  1. Sonnia can set things on fire by herself with little issue. And once she manages to generate 1 stalker, that will also add burning.
  2. I agree, burning is not the problem, its tomes in hand. I don't think I've ever run out of burning before I ran out of tomes to locomotive more.
  3. Whilst she doesn't have Nihilism she will just sacrifice herself to generate rats, and remove the condition that way.
  4. Marcus is a hard master to master, as he can do so many different things, and have such a varied crew. When I play Marcus, I normally use him as a missile. He can attack a model in the enemy deployment zone before it has activated if you want. Against the Viks I would probably look to get in their face straight away. Try and make sure that you make a couple of models beast around him if you can If you've got the +3 walk, Ml expert +2 damage, and the right hand, you should get something beasted out on the Ml attack. If you also have feral and Pack leader in the list somewhere, you can make something else a beast and gain a free attack, meaning that his Defend me trigger virtually makes him invulnerable. Or imbued energies for the extra AP. My Marcus rarely gets to the end of the game, but by making the fight happen in the enemies deployment zone, I've normally got the rest of the crew drop the markers required as they come up to help him, and then also die gloriously in the opponent s deployment zone. My opponennt often gets to the end of the game, and discovers I have no crew left, but he hasn't left his half of the table, and so not scored. Other ways would include the DF 8 marcus just holding up the Viks at a crucial point. They can't afford to let him get an Alpha off against either of them, because they are so killy, that they either need to go into him as hard as they can (and you hold your high cards to cheat as required in Df, posiibily aslo with a Jackolope nearby to take one hit for you) or avoid him.
  5. My first advice would be to look at how Wong is working, and plan around that. You say he is tossing Stuffed piglets with the pigapult to target with wong. Then don't you get an activation between the stuffed piglets and Wong? Kill the pigs, or walk away. Put up Flame walls to block any los that wong could get to the piglet. All those will disrupt his plan. As will engaging the piglet. If I remember rightly, it will take wong 2 walks to be able to cast a spell at that piglet, so he only gets one chance, and if instead of the piglet he ends up hitting you, it will be much harder for him to be able to cheat in the damage for the blasts. (or he will have used the lovely assisatant to have fixed the randomisation, but still need to use cards from his hand to get the attack on the piglet to win by enough) If Wong can hit sonnia, then Sonnia can hit Wong. Alternatively Disrupt magic is not Wong friend. Get a stalker or an Orderly near Wong with that aura, and Wong will not be happy. I'm assuming he makes Burt Magical. if you have either very high damage, or Armor ignoring, then its not hard to kill Gracie. (Try Sam hopkins with burn them out, and after you've put burning 8 on her once, she will give him a very wide birth. Or use Sonnia on Gracie, and get the blasts to then hit Burt, his defences wont be any use then. ) I'm not going to create a list for 2 reasons - Firstly, you don't normally know what you r opponent is running, so its better to work out how to answer problems with the list you already have. Secondly, regardless of what the opponent can do, you win the game by scoreing VP, not by killing their list. Building your list to get you VP and deny your opponent VP is better than building a list that doesn't die and kills your opponent. And Not knowign what the Game is, or how the board looks, its very hard to work out a good list (The layout of the board and the amount/lposiiton of Blocking terrain does make quiet a bit of difference to the way you want to play Sonnia)
  6. The FAQ answers this one. If you gain a condition from 2 different sources, you use the end condition from the later source. Although thinking about strength from below and this, it does lead to some very strange outcomes. In fact everything about strength from below leads to some very strange outcomes when you try and do anything other than just gain armour from it.
  7. Jacob lynch just wants a quiet place where he can play cards. He ended up with the casino after a game of cards, and is paying ten thunders protection money, as well as Having to try and Keep Graves and Tannen happy (well at least from killing him) whilst they worship the hungering darkness which is based in his basement. Zoraida was human who came through the breech, then became neverborn. Lileth stole leadership of the Nephilm from her sister by politics rather than strength. Nekima still hasn't forgiven her. Whilst she might think people like Zoraida ought to follow her, she lso admits that Zoraida does things and sees things she can't. The dreamer is an Earthside child, who somehow when he sleeps he can conjour up these things in MAlifaux. Chompybits follows him around to see how he uses the power.
  8. I don't think any of the stories have been drastically changed between editions. So all of the rule books still have valid backstories that are canon. Through the breech podcasts are reading the stories form the books, I think They've part way through the 3rd book. (so still in the first edition) From memory the first book looks at the beginnings of Molly, and a little on Ramos. The second book has Kiara and Nicodem and Hamilin as major characters.
  9. We already have the rules for the corrupted hounds and they do have black blood. They are in Shifting Loyalties
  10. There are a lot of little tricks to a lot of the cards that you often don't see until you've used them alot. My Advice is to try and make use of similar models whilst you are learning the game, as it means you have less to worry about (So even having multiple Bayou gremlins for example, once you're happy with what you can trust a bayou gremlin to do in a turn, you are going to be comfortable with several of your crew members). And before each turn (or possibly each activation) ask yourself how you are going to score points this turn (or deny the enemy). Then try and implement it. Killing your opponents models often doesn't score you anything. Don't let it distract you too much from your aim, you can win games without killing a single enemy model, even if all of yours get wiped out during the game. (That's an extreme answer, and you'll not often manage that, but killing one model instead of earning points by doing something else is a good way to never score points)
  11. In my experience there are almost no masters that have "must have" models. If you want a colettte crew filled with Sabertooth cerbrii and steam arachnids, then go for it. It can actually do quite well. Models which summon other models will want to have some access to the models they summon (Playing Ramos and not havign access to any spiders is probably not going to go all that well), but isn't entirely essential. Obviously there are some models that give bonus' to a type of model, so a Lucius crew will probably contain a high proportion of Minions, but which minions you pick will still vary lot. And some models that really support a style of play will often be called auto includes, but aren't. (I'm referring to things like Slop haulers in a Sommer list for healing, Mortimer with Corpse bloat in a Nicodem list for corpse generation, as things that can be really helpful if you are trying to play in that way, but the master certainly doesn't have to focus on that aspect). I would start with a crew box you like the look of and play taht a few times to learn the rules, and try and get a feel of the interactions of the models. Then afetr you feel you're comfortable with the rules of the game, either look at where you struggle, and buy non masters to fill those holes, or try a different master to let you see how they master has warped the game (they all do in some way). Most people will do a combination of the 2 over time, but if you only want to play 1 master then its perfectly possible. It is a game of picking the right tool for the job set before you, but sometimes using the tools you know well is better than picking the "right" tool and not knowing how to use it.
  12. Try using the Lightening bugs you got with Wong in the healing role, using the Skeetars to give the correct suit for their healing trigger if needed. Its probably slightly harder to control than the Slop haulers, but should help heal up for the summoning engine. If your only healing is quality mash liqour, then you can summon, but you won't want to summon lots.
  13. Zoraida typically is a force multiplier. She takes what ever you have and makes it that little bit better. For a lot of her tricks it doesn't matter what you take, but anything hat likes extra AP is good. things with good 1 actions are nice, as are things wiht good 2 actions, because its much easier to Flurry if Zoraida has already got you into the right place. Doesn't really help you with the what to buy, but I'd consider looking at some more beater models. (they have a good obvious use for extra AP, and the box already comes with one of the fastest models in the game for scheme running.) Although She is a neverborn master so primordial magic and Doppleganger are good considerations. Even if you want Zoraida to summon in the voodoo doll part way through, you can use the primordial magic as a scheme marker to score before that. (depending on how you use your doll).
  14. Yes. You can turn 1 burning model into 2 stalkers if you get it right.
  15. I don't think there is a wrong master for any of the Strategies. Crew wise you will want to have some durable models to contest each stash marker each turn. Ophelia and the rest of the kin should have been able to do the mission fine. She has a good versitility of attack actions, able to kill single models or hurt large groups together. She can also move her crew about to get them into the right place as required.
  16. Wave 1 Arsenal Decks contain the cards and upgrades from the main rule book. Wave 2 arsenal decks contain the cards from the Crossroads book. the main purpose of these was to allow players to use the last edition models The models come with the cards needed, and some upgrades. The Generalist upgrade deck contains the upgrades that you can't get by buying the model cards, generally because they are upgrades that aren't crew related. It does contain upgrades from all 7 factions, so if you have friends that play different factions, you could split it, but Malifaux is a bit of a one more crew game, so you never quite know when you are going to start playing another faction. The cheapest option is to just buy the figures, the cards and upgrades that come with them are fine. I then recommend getting the Generalist upgrade deck (since its cheaper than buying the 2 arsenal decks) and that will give you all the cards you need. If you are a completionist, or particularly like looking at the cards of models you don't own, then the arsenal decks will get you those, but it isn't required. Any new book releases are unlikely to come with arsenal decks. (Shifting loyalties didn't, you can't get the model cards from it except from buying the models when they are released).
  17. Dogs are much easier to train and get to do what you want than cats. And dogs are much more a pack animal than cats, so you expect to see them together. (I makes it 4 generic dogs, and 2 named dogs. If you include the rogue necromancy, you get 3 generic cats. ) And 2 of the dogs are trained by the guild as police dogs (although the corrupted hounds got a little out of control), we don't really have a police cat department yet.... Looking alright as a sculpt. Generic wolf (if you paint the back spines as fur related) or chaos hounds springs to mind. At least they should attach to the base well.

Typically I find they die to ranged models with high severe damage and/or armour ignoring, and that the Focus the sniper has used to get the range means that if they hit, they can easily cheat enough damage to kill. Hans and Nino, and the Pathfinder can do it, and then trappers and snipers can with the right suit. Melee its typically armour ignring models, or relic hammers that worry me. And to be honest I will normally bond in the first turn, before these matter, but the ranged stuff can kill one back in my deployment zone if I'm not careful, so may have to combine on the first activation
  19. But last year we only failed due to the tactical genius offered by Matt (I might not have kept up with the rankings, but who, I'm sure, completed his guild 2015 challenge, and now holds the best in faction trophy. ) And without him, who could stop our inevitable march to triumph. Unfortunately don't think I can make this, which is a shame, Its a great event, and the atmosphere was awesome.
  20. Not all totems have it, but you'll find it on the back of the Wendigos card as a tactical action.
  21. Yes, a model dying by poison counts for Assasniate. Lizzy got told during the game that it didn't, (which was wrong) and lost the game because of it. (and as said, there are some schemes and starts that do matter who killed it, but assassinate isn't one)
  22. I doubt that we would ever get mixed kits of part translucent and part plain plastics, as you said, you can paint up the bits you don't want translucent. (And as I understand the moulding process you make the whole mold each time, and so you can't mix and match in the mold, and what are they going to do with lots of translucent Lynchs and solid plastic skeletons?) They have been doing more and more kits in translucent form over the years, and I would say they are doing it to kits that have models that would look good in the translucent. I'm not sure what in the Lazarus kit I would want to be translucent.
  23. Personally I agree that Vendetta is not worth taking. Especially if you are also setting up to use reposte, and so have other uses for high masks. It becomes a little more promising if you use it when she hasn't charged, so she has the positives to her damage flip, but 2 attacks that I expect to do weak 3, vs 1 in which I expect to do weak 5 is something where I prefer the less resource intensive nature of only having to force 1 attack through. Some of that is play style, and what you prioritise. Likewise, I find that her death is most likely to happen from 1 big hit, rather than lots of little hits (Especially when you aggressively reposte) so the defence that the badge does give her is a really big thing. Even if you don't use it until the hit on her to prevent 1 damage and keep her alive, it has warped your opponents way of playing into her for most of the game. But I disagree with the idea that its not worth concentrating on reposte, it is a very awesome ability. I would much rather use the high card form my hand to both save her some damage and hurt the enemy whilst they spend AP to do it rather than have to spend my own Ap on it. But it does require you to spend a bit more effort on thinking about the opponents hand and what they have already done with it each turn. I wouldn't stone on the first couple of attacks, but after I've seen them use a couple of severe cards from their hand, I may well push for it, even if I'm only Df 5.

Yes, if you're running individual corephyee, learn what can kill them in the next activation, and if they are at risk, merge.
