  2. Hello all😁! I am a returning Rezzer player and I need a pick me up. i started playing Rezzers in 1st edition and have been playing them primarily since with a fair smattering of breaks here and there. I fell off right around book 4. I did pick up most of the models however. Book 5 on the other hand has (although owned) remained mostly unopened. Upon recently getting stuck in again (played 2 games yesterday) i am realizing that I can’t seem to recall much of the synergies of the faction. i played against guild who threw fees out left and right. And then a neverborn list completely themed around collodi’s synergy’s. so I guess really... TLDR: what cool gimmicks do rezzers have these days outside of poison? What cool combos do we have? Not looking for “gotcha” moments on my opponents. I just want to know what to throw on the table outside of book 1 staples. sorry for the long winded post I just want to love my dead again before I Think about starting another hobby project. Thanks and Happy Haunting!

    Lucius: Huntmaster (Brainstorm)

If this is necromancy, I am most sorry. I hope a year has not quashed this very interesting idea. Do you have any updates? I associate the Fae of this world with hunting in my mind too, likely by way of elf-shot and the greenwood-- ''we dare not go a-hunting for fear of little men'' and partly from dim memories of a book -- I think by Terry Pratchett -- in which the elves hunt men (read in my aunt's library nearly fifteen years ago -- Lords and Ladies?). P.S. -- This really ought not to detract from Masquer's work, but I include my own thoughts on Lucius and hunting: perhaps someone would be interested? I confess if I imagine Lucius as a huntsman, it would be either on horseback in the scarlet coat, top-hat and white breeches of the Quorn and Pytchley Hunt (a deliberate abuse of language, the two are entirely separate, but a slight modification for the world of Malifaux) or, if on foot, the green coat, white breeches, green stockings and coloured collar of a good beagling pack -- you can get good pictures of the rather different brown velvet of the Eton beagles on the internet, also of the collar-flashes of other packs) -- a bob-wig akin to a barrister's and a crop in one hand with a scarred whipper-in and a brace of Guild Hounds to hunt down his quarry. In the faery case the predominant colour ought definitely to be green, being both accurate and folkloric. If anyone wanted to model a Malifaux hunt -- most would need to be sculpted from scratch -- it would be a fascinating diorama, -- Lucius on a fine horse, a grand lady riding side-saddle, the Scribe carrying on his tray the silver stirrup-cups and a suitably nasty and badly scarred whipper-in with a pack of deformed and vicious hounds (the original description of the Guild Hounds indicated considerable aberrancies of behaviour and appearance as a result of exposure to the aether Breachside over several generations. A similarly gruesome set, on foot, could be the Malifaux Beagles, with Lucius on foot with a whip, a huntsman, another aristocrat looking down at the hounds and a mauled corpse in a Badlands ditch -- not clearly human, but it certainly never was a hare. Either of these would work very well with faery huntsmen replacing aristocrats: elegant, eyeless lords of the Autumn Court parting to reveal, of all things, the neat figure, velvet-green coat and spotless white stock and pin of Lucius Mattheson. Shock and then a slow, agonising death. It would have been better if the Hounds had devoured you. http://www.countrysportsandcountrylife.com/sections/hunting/Beagling.htm It should be noted I have never studied the rules as I live in a very remote place and my interest is aesthetic, so I have no idea how useful any of this actually is! However, you did mention brainstorming so I've imposed on you with everything I can think of.

    Tara : how do I start ?

Declared Faction: Outcasts Crew Name: Talos 50ss Leader: Tara - Cache:(4)Emptiness 0ss Dead of Winter 1ss Knowledge of Eternity 2ss Out of Time 1ss Voiceless Words 1ss Malifaux Child 2ss Hodgepodge Emissary 10ss Conflux of Nothingness 0ss Talos 8ss Void Wretch 4ss Void Wretch 4ss Void Wretch 4ss Void Wretch 4ss Freikorps Engineer 6ss Desperate Mercenary 3ss My latest Tara brew, played one game with it and it went okayish, gotta try more. The idea is that you can bury two enemy models off Talos and HPE if you got the suit (HPE can get a model 23" away, which is insane), Wretches are protected by Voiceless words by further straining your opponent's hand. Then your Wretches just chomp on the buried guy to their heart's content. And Talos with Engineer buff is extremely tanky

Talos and how to best use it

Obvious choices: Hamelin, Parker, Von Schill -- they can deliver him within burying range Obvoius synergy: Freikorps Engineer with Armor +2 he gets really survivable I've been playing with him in Tara with Emissary, and the crew worked pretty well even against the horror that is Collodi
  8. Been searching for more information on how to use this awesome looking model and am wondering if anyone has seen a good post with synergy with masters. Thanks in advance!

Firstly, it's excellent to see so many responses, very, very good indeed. Phinn: Yes, we all seem to approach the same material from slightly different slants, even if one reads the same story twice at different times or in different moods. The analogy with miniature craftsmanship is at once fascinating and disturbing again, thank you, I shall copy it into my commonplace book. Yes, our fairy-tales have all become sugar and sentiment, just as in France in the seventeenth century they were rendered in elegant and beautiful silvery prose for the salons of Mme. d'Aulnoy and the précieuses. As you say, the old tales are very dark, near in fact to the most ancient human fears (from wherever they may spring), in Malifaux the forms of the Neverborn. Mortarion: ''A Great Adventure'' is to be found in text form in ''Ripples of Fate'', pp. 203-216. Quite fascinating, on account of the Widow as well as the Teddy: a glimpse of a pitiful, child-like creature unaware of its horror or of the hideous deaths of its victims (the appalling pulping and mutilation conveyed by the ''naughty box'' and ''number blocks'' are quite sickening as they should be, the grotesque game of hide-and-seek with torn-out eyes). One would assume that the creator, the Widow, would be quite evil, but Malifaux is more subtle -- and a good deal darker -- than such simple conceptions, she possesses a perverted parody of love for her creations -- presumably anticipating, intending the horrors they will wreak, but grieved by their departure after so much work. Also the terrible family -- corpse, blood-puppet and hideous monster that maims and kills with love and whose ''clumsy mistakes'' rip open a woman's chest. ''The Final Word'' can be found on pp. 6-17 of ''Storm of Shadows''. Also of great merit in that edition is the ''Malifaux Orphanage for Sick Children'', -- ''double for a nice young one like this'' -- which is pp. 18-23 and incidentally the origin of Iggy. The sheer wickedness of human nature, the worthlessness of life, greed for money -- the orphanage itself -- and the sinister, elegant Miss Dora. ''Price of Freedom'' can be found on pp. 76-94 of ''Broken Promises.'' To my considerable annoyance I omitted to buy it. I have corrected the omission via thrurpg. Loki: ''Master of Fate'' can be found on pp. 138-151. It is some time since I read it, thank you for bringing it back to my attention. TOS is not for me (all a matter of taste), but I thought that ''Little Star'' was truly brilliant in parts, innocent but deeply unsettling, especially when we consider that the Burning Man consists of the incandescent (and presumably agonising) remnants of the Governor-General. The following is simply private speculation, my own views: I remember my old Art mistress telling me that all personal responses to a work of art are equally valid (Lest that sound very grand, I mean the art-mistress at what I believe is called grade or elementary school in America. I cannot and never could paint or draw on account of a permanent tremor in my hands thanks to a serious haemorrhage in my brain as an infant, producing mild cerebral palsy, so my art-lessons largely consisted in plundering books of illustrations for impressions for the imagination -- hence it is so kind of you to admit me as an ''observer'') and I tend towards such a view myself. I would be interested to see if others' reflections (likely deeper than mine) produced a like response. It's interesting that the Man itself is never strictly implied to be malign. I think of it as faintly akin to Lovecraft's Azathoth: neither evil nor scheming in itself, likely incapable of either, senseless with pain if it possesses any life or consciousness at all [I believe it to be screaming in agony and despair], yet to its ''followers'' (if my guess is right, of whom it is unaware) a sort of aetheric beacon on account of the sheer force of magical power released and hence an apparent sign of madness and ruin accompanied by a solar wind of magic that will devour and deform. Nikodemus: I am not familiar with the Broadcasts, but reading all of the stories is well worth the time, believe me!

    Wyrd Chronicles 36

I'm glad people liked the articles The prize for the Obsidian Gate event is a new Adjunct model for someone, so it seems like there definitely will be some new stuff from time to time (and a dual-Allegiance Commander is inherently a new model for that Allegiance too), but I agree that this is a really solid business plan. It also makes things way easier to balance, since you can only have one Envoy so you only have to worry about balancing new things in the Allegiance's pairs.

Can't say I've read or listened much of the fluff. I did read Luther's (alt blessed) Chronicles #17 story while I was painting him. Not something I often do but it gave me more appreciation for the character. Nice story too. Malifaux, orphans, little something to eat... Might have to give Breachside Broadcast a listen one of these days when I paint.

    Titania Tactica

Titania can tarpit even without Royal Indignation, it just increases her survivability. On the other hand, Pact stops SS use and healing within 3", not just damage prevention. SS users cannot stone for suits and such, reducing their effectiveness. This is powerful against certain masters and henchmen that rely on suits for key actions. No healing means tanky models or setups that include healers are now weakened as well. Your opponent now has to spend resources killing Titania or getting out of her 3" bubble. While she's not unkillable, it will distract them for a bit while Nekima wreaks havoc. So while it doesn't directly help her tarpit, it complicates things for the opponent when she's acting as a tarpit. They have to be a lot more careful with their resources, especially when Nekima's Fears Given Form is up together with Titania's Thirsty Roots. I find that I seldom aggressively attack leaders or use The Rot Within as I tend to play against high Wp crews. But I guess that's also partly because I keep forgetting she has a free suit and +1 damage against leaders. Instead, much of the AP is spent getting Titania into position or trying to get healing/command triggers to support the other models in the melee.

I really liked Master of Fate in Shifting Loyalties. The interactions between Lilith, Pandora and Zoraida were great. If we're accepting TOS stories, Little Star in the newest Chronicles is really good. They're doing Chaos corruption better than GW did themselves.

    Titania Tactica

How does Pact help her tarpit? It's designed purely around killing masters and stopping them preventing the damage. Are you referring instead to Royal Indignation?

    Wyrd Chronicles 36

It's a good idea. It lets them keep armies thematic, while using mercs/infiltration type mechanics to let you bring some other units in. Bring a dual commander, take some models from the other allegiance. And hey, while you're there, you might like it enough to grab that allegiance. Smart from a balance perspective and a marketing one. Though I'm guessing they're going to toss each existing army the odd unit per book to keep interest going. There's going to be people who want to stick to a certain army, and not supporting that at all will lose customers over time.

Yeah. It starts of at the scene of a murder and then splits up into three different stories. One about a Teddy, partially seen from his perspective, one about the people involved in the investigation being haunted by something and one about a mercenary.

    Titania Tactica

Hey guys, just won a local tourney playing Titania. Played a gunline with Trapper, 2 Changelings and Doppelganger. Starting to really love Pact as I been using Titania as a tarpit and push model with Nekima to engage enemy beaters, while the gunline keeps rest of the stuff in check. Of course, this is highly dependent on terrain as well, this probably wouldn't work as well in more cluttered boards with no vantage points. Feel free to check out the Battle Report here.

Pics are a bit crap, but I've added a lot more contrast to the lower skirt. Not 100% on the highlight placement or blending, but it's a step in the right direction. Swords definitely look like they stronger shading now.
