...and, a little bit later, here's the work-in-progress of the Golem, and Arik:

The statue head on Iron-Arik will be repainted into a pale marble / Ivory colour. The blue is very pretty, but it makes the base too intense and distracting.

I have also been messing with a few other ideas, so this has come into the mix:

But these guys are in early development.

There are some awesome pieces in the works for this month - I'm loving watching everyone's projects!

@Purple Mist: The best way I have found to do running water is with a combination of Vallejo Still Water OR Vallejo Water Effects gel. However, the real secret is ... fishing line! Have a read though this link.

Pandora is almost done:

I do not like the dark blue corset and collar so I decided to repaint them in leather brown in the same way I did for the robe.

Pandora and Candy.......

Main job done.....hoping not to get bad surprises unpinning the two minis.  I'll evaluate the opportunity to add some highlights to Pandora, but my attention now goes to the fountain and Kitty Dumont.

Some stuffs I bought online are till somewhere in EU; at worst I'll have to search my stockpile of bases to finish the job.

Hello there!  I'm done with the dawn serpent (for 9ss), glad i finished it because i had the base done for a while now, and the non painted mini with the pretty base was an odd combo on the table XD

After quite a lot of thought about the color scheme, I ended up going with something pretty much like the boxart... Also I recently got one of the super matt super saturated scale 75 reds and wanted to try it

@Caedrus and @Viruk I thank both of you for clarifications.That model looks huge; I'm sure with Viruk's experience and painting talent we will see soon a great mini.

I begun going after Malifaux at the time of 2nd Edition; honestly I'm not a big fun of metal minis and the only M1E ones I collected are the plastic remakes. I consider I bit odd Avatars were left behind with M2E, that's from my "collector" point of view. Talking about that with M1E games I got their opinion Avatars were unbalancing the game.

Got so little time for a few weeks, so finished the jury and printing press, but didn't make a photos of them. So here they are (low quality, but cant do better right now). Already varnished due to specific attaching to the bases.

@Caedrus and the group. I think this month will be another mulligan for me putting me in painting purgatory. Some times life gets busy and painting has to go on the back burner.

With that in mind I had planned on taking over hosting the challenge next year, but unfortunately I just don't think I'll have the time. I'm sure one of you fine people will be able to step in and run it instead. Hopefully I'll still be able to participate, be it on a lower level.

Thanks guys, even though I haven't had the time to paint over the past few months I've still enjoyed lurking and seeing all the great work you're producing. Rotten Harvest entries were all fantastic too, keep up the good work

@astapable great job with the last two minis.

As regard pics, my suggestion is to employ filtered light. Using a home made photobox is common choice.

About best size of the photobox and the color of the surfaces I have till doubts...... Guess you have to size it considering that most of time you'll take shoots of one single miniature. Then, for the color of photobox surfaces, black was the most common choice and most of times it gives best results.

On the other way you can try using light filters: baker paper is cheap and seems to work very well. Cold bulblamps can be enveloped with baker paper to filter direct light to take shoots without photobox.

My initial 37 soulstones now followed with 28 nightmarish ones, which brings me to a total of 65 soulstones. Don't think I can paint more this month - only a few days left but will definitely continue next month. Well, at least until Dec 15th as second batch of PS5 is expected to be available then  More pics as always on my blog and IG

first of all I must congrat with you all for  the great figures I could admire this month, too.

For me it was a long month of hard work, made even harder by this second Covid Wave. Well, it was, but all, a good month for painting.

Although I missed some of the targets I planned (I was unable to complete Lazarus and the big fountain because of "still water stuff" shortage), I had goot times assembling some heavy cruisers and battleships for my Drop Fleet Commander force. I also assembled and primed more Malifaux figures for the months to come, then and most important, I successed putting pigments on plastic to complete 4 Malifaux models:

Kitty Dumont (9ss), Pandora (15ss), Candy (8ss), Baby Kade (7ss) for overall 39ss.

Caedrus, reporting in!

So, this month, I finished two miniatures, and I've been messing about with photoshopping in a black background. The two finished miniatures are at 10SS each, making a 20SS total.

First, my original pledge of Arik Schöettmer:

Second, my eBay-rescued Rail Golem:

With both miniatures, I was trying to improve my skills in NMM and OSL effects. I was pleased with my Iron-Man-Arik's copper NMM on his green-stuff backpack, and I'm slowly getting better at light source placement. I think the Golem could do with more contrast, though. I'm not sure of the purple glow really works, but it's done now.

I almost forgot! I also painted three entries for the Wyrd Halloween competition!

For 15SS, this was my Elvira Bathory!

There were some great entries in this category, but it's a great fun mini, and soon to be converted back to an Amelia Bathory!

At 10SS, the Brutal Emissary!

I had some fun with this miniature. The little demon pit (into which the accused is being dropped) didn't photograph well. I was pleased with the OSL, and the resculpted hand, though!

Finally, for 7SS a Bayou Gator with the Two Gremlins in a Ghillie Suit upgrade!

Well, my vision for this did not work out. I was envisioning a much more cohesive miniature, but this is what I ended up with. It's a silly thing, but it scored me a Silver, so I'm not complaining!

So, my Grand Total was 52SS!

I had lots of fun, and learned a very great deal as well from the competition!

I had a great November, now onto the final month!

For November I added a few Insidious Madnesses, the last Daydream, Witch Pandora as Zelda and her Poltergeist to my Hyrule Neverborn for 36ss.

And then, revealing my Rotten Harvest mentioned from last month, Teddy as Beast Ganon, built from a Rougarou, Wild Boar head, Thunderwolf arm, Lightning Claw hands, and a good bit of greenstuff:

Continuing my work on the honeypot with 2 beckoners + 2 illuminated + huggy for 31.  I'm specially happy with the beckoners as I HATE the beckoner sculpts, so I made some from the new m3e illuminateds.

To go with them I got 1 m3e illuminated and one m2e

And no honeypot is complete without huggy.

Since other people are putting them in I might as well count my rotten harvest models too, so I did a Colette and a dead rider for 25

So @Caedrus say I'm at 56 for the month

@Caedrus - love the Ghillie suit, reminded me some Planescape fluff about levitating, disguised squirrels. Hope it's a versatile upgrade so we can see it applied to more models ;).
 

@Boomstick - Poltergeist looks sweet! Not that the rest of the bunch don't look great also but the colour composition on that one is outstanding.

 

@bedjy - some seriously awesome basing work there. Absolutely love the ethereal effect + lighting you've done on Kitty also.

 

@muraki - those Beckoners are class. You've improved on both the Illuminated and Beckoner sculpts in my opinion. The Magenta glow and masks completely sell the idea of what the models are supposed to be. Top notch.
