Round One Results & Round Two Begins

I have a few things to touch up on my model but am feeling so rotten with a cold I might just leave them. Some Iron Painter I am. 😒

My first crew ( and those who followed )

Nice colour choices. Face is hard to make out in the pic though. Any chance of another one?

Round One Results & Round Two Begins

Ugh, not sure if this is the longest I've ever spent painting a single figure, but it certainly feels that way. I have a newfound appreciation for the term monotonous. 😴

You should make the plinth by gluing a stack of bases together.

Is it just literally a blank 30mm base? Because if it is I've now ruined it.

Iron Painter 2018 - Round One

I bet he's just sitting at his desk, cursor hovering over the submit button, cackling occasionally. I hear he feeds on anxiety.

Iron Painter 2018 - Round One Voting

Was there a timer for voting? I assumed we had the rest of today as the announcement is tomorrow.

Zipping along on another terrain board (ish): Zeppelin!

This extremely awesome. If you wanted to use it for malifaux you could centre it on the table and rule the bow and stern (probably misusing those) as off limits using crates or something to block access. Then you could fill in the rest of the board with gangways and ladders or what have you to make vertical movement easy and set it up like a dry-dock. Regardless I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Iron Painter 2018 - Round One

I started off great but ground to a halt after starting a new job. Now all I have to do is put together some sort of diorama tonight so I can get some photos during daylight hours tomorrow! :O

Coryphee Base - A make it up as I go adventure.

Crew look nice. Bright colours came out well and all the details are picked out very tidily, so I'd say your method worked. 😀 Zenithal priming is about as professional as a buying a second can of €2 spray paint and missing most of the model with it. 😀 It's essentially the same as what you're doing with the drybrush using a different method. It can help with lighter colours since some of the model is white or grey, but it'll only get you so far in terms of directional lighting in my experience. I'd say with the coryphee you could nearly do a light glaze of a spot colour (maybe a dark blue), put on the metallics and call it a day. They look pretty striking as they are but monochrome often looks better with some hint of colour included and the rest of the crew is quite colourful. I'm not sure how black over white drubrushing would work. Never seen it done so would be interested to see how it turns out!
