Give Me A Name, Bastian!

Even though the likes of Dashel Barker rose from Enforcer to Henchman to Master, not everyone can aspire to such lofty heights.  What about the little guy?  What about the beaten and the downtrodden, just looking for a little bit of a step up in the world?

Which Minion or Plentiful Totem would you like to see get a name?  Not like a alternate Miss Anne Thrope, but an upgrade to a single model single named Enforcer or better.  Like an Aspiring Student get their red belt and become an assistant instructor, or a Desperate Mercenary get a good run of jobs and build a reputation.... and they get a name.

Who would you elevate and name?

You appear to miss that Dashel started life as a totem, the drill sergeant (it may have even been a peon). I don't think he was ever an enforcer (He was a henchman in M2E, so was already different to the generic Guild captain enforcer)

So far Misaki, Hamlin, Wong and Jack have fully progressed from minionhood to Master (Lucius, Von Schill, Kaeris, Molly, Ophelia and Collodi started life as the 6 first edition henchmen who got promoted during the first edition switch).

Arik and Howard and Maurice started life as generic people.

You could possibly argue that Tara was a desperate mercenary before she became a master.  And I imagine that at one time Shen Long and Sensei Yu were just aspiring students.

I could have sworn Wong started out as a Master.

Nope.  First appeared in Storm of Shadows (along with Burt and Gracie) as Outcast minions at the end of 1E.

Actually, Mortimer is arguably this in reverse:  a unique named gravedigger (by in-universe profession) who was eventually followed by a generic counterpart model.

I bought Wong as an outcast minion in first edition.

Dang. I missed a whole book apparently.

I'll have to turn in my grognard card.

Most of the unnamed totems would be pretty funny as named enforcers/henchmen.  As much as I love the young lacroix with the bare butt and I'm sure he lives a rich public life, I'm not sure I'm gunna go out of my way to field his (no doubt wario) influenced card....

I was trying to think with some of the crews I play, and a lot of them already have models that could fill that 'named / bigger version of x' role.  Like sure Sidir / Wastrels aren't directly 1 to 1 but they have overlapping skillsets / abilities.

Some good ones tho:

  • Witchling Thralls (cause who wouldnt want a more smashy thrall henchmen?)
  • Domadores (would add some interesting options for marshal)
  • Draugr (Cause the beard guy is already pretty special and deserves a name)
  • December Acolytes (cause the new sculpts are awesome but not so awesome i wanna field a bunch)
  • Rooster Riders (cause who can resist more chicken sculpts)
  • moon shinobis/fermented river monks (cause brewmaster doesn't really have any new models who lean into the 'wow im trashed' look)

I agree with Draugr. I miss that they don't have size changing rules. I feel like with the replace mechanics it would be easy.

I agree in the rooster riders, and it looks like Wyrd is stead of us with the Bayou Bash versitile stuff that is coming out.

I'd really like to see a Taxidermist that got the bump to enforcer or henchman. Maybe a stuffed gator to go with him.

Freikorps has a library division with a head librarian but no head engineer for the engineering division. Seems like an opportunity for advancement.

If you want to give me a good 14" gun model to for That One Count as Mine—I wont say no

A Domadore Enforcer/Henchman would be very cool (although the thought of painting it makes me just as sad as the thought of painting the minion versions.  Or painting in general!)

I'm not sure about the Thrall though.  There's not much personality in an enslaved beatstick.  A named Handler who is particularly skilled at controlling Thralls though.  That I would like to see.

The Puzzlebox story gives us a witchling stalker with a secret personality, so its not impossible, but specialist handlers feels more likely

I’d like to see Molloch (sp?) from the story where Toni and him both hunt down a psycho ice mage who has gone on a murder spree but has ties to the arcanist, so she wants to take him out first. Great story, and he is a kind of pompous dandy who is also badass, with some implied interesting backstory

I don't rember that story; is he a Gunsmith or something else?

Sorry, quoted to imply he was a witchling handler. Called his stalkers his “hounds”. It was one of the breachside broadcasts, but I can’t recall the number. Back from 2e based on the fight with ice gamin, and they explode when killed.
