  1. You can only go up to 3x [+] right? For a total of 4 cards flipped? Or were you just saying 4 cards on a positive flip? Just making sure I am not misunderstanding that limit off hand. (Granted 4x [+] would be able to happen, and apply against any [-], right?). The trigger only gives up to , but if you channeled when declaring the charge that's another , and if you channeled the attack also that's another , so Levi can have a base total of to the damage flip before factoring in anything like HtW or whatever / you might have gotten from the flip itself. Though this is a bit of a double edged sword in that every card you flip increases your chances of drawing the black joker.
  2. Thus, in a Peacebringer Blade attack, the effect is the damage, and the source of the effect is the model performing the action. Thus, just like damage is an effect, or giving slow is an effect, places are an effect. The effect of being placed is coming from the acting model, Lust or whoever, just like a Rotten Belle is producing a move effect when they lure, or Rasputina is producing a blast effect when she attacks. We don't say the model being damaged by Rasputina is doing damage. We don't say a model being slowed by Chiaki is creating a slow effect; Chiaki is. In no way should we be saying the model being acted on is producing the effect. If Lust or the Belle attempts to end that effect within that aura, they cannot. . "Enemy models may not end placement effects" does not reference those generated by enemy models, but those which act on enemy models. If it was talking about placement effects which are generated by enemy models then this part of the ability "unless that effect was generated by ... a model in this crew" is completely uneeded. Why say effects generated by your own models aren't affected by this ability if the ability only affected placement effects generated by enemy models?
  3. You also have to take into account "If I can't have it..." which gives Envy a +1 to his Sh giving him Sh 6 and makes his trigger to get + on moderate and severe as long as the target is within 3" of a scheme marker, which isn't all that hard in a Colette crew. If Colette were to prompt him all 3 times, Envy could get 3 focused shots a turn. Give him reactivate on Turn 5 if he's still around for another focused shot or two more shots. It's a pretty strong combo. Thought about suggesting it to one of our local arcanist players before but didn't get around to it.
  4. Excerpt from the vantage point rules "Models between the acting and target model which are below the vantage point model are ignored", so yes, if it wasn't for the boxes in the picture then Raspy would have LoS. If Rasputina was more than 2" away from the edge then it depends on what type of terrain she is standing on. If she is standing on Blocking terrain then she can not draw LoS to Lilith, if she's just standing on terrain with some cover trait and not blocking then she will be able to draw LoS to Lilith. As for your second question, yes, the trapper would have LoS to the target model. The terrain above the target has no bearing on LoS or cover, and as referenced earlier, models which are below the vantage point model are ignored.
  5. Quite simply, no. The better question is why did your opponent think that the Dreamer does get reactivate. Where are you getting LCB wad killed from?
  6. The use of Terrifying here is because that is the most common way to cause a Horror Duel, and in most cases thr only way a model will encounter the chance to take multiple horror duels. This is just one of the things to keep in mind when choosing who to target with Exhale Terror. If you don't have your web markers up then it's probably better to prioritize models that have already activated.
  7. When it says push into base contact that just gives you a direction and target location. It's no different than a push to/away/any direction with a set distance.
  8. I guess I should ask this now--can models take attack or tactical actions while in process of climbing a wall, provided the climbing model's melee range would "reach" even factoring in both vertical and horizontal distance? Based on the quoted section, answer seems no. No. The side of a wall is not a legal location for a model to end it's movement.
  9. They have an engagement range equal to the distance of its longest range close() Attack. Changlings do not have such an attack. They are able to use other models' actions, but they do not have those actions. You can not set up a chain of Changlings and have them all copy the same Action from a model at the end of the chain.
  10. As long as there isn't a literal instead there you will draw LoS lines from both the Leader and the Watcher, which means that if there is suitable terrain between either of them and the target, the target benefits from cover. (Although drawing LoS lines from the Watcher is optional, even when you have used the ability.) Is there anything that supports either? FaQ has nothing in it about this, or on Ice Mirror which has similar wording. The only differences between the two are that Ice Mirror has some restrictions to use it and how it would work fluff-wise
  11. If I had to rate them on general usefulness it'd probably be; Lust and Greed near the top because of Lust's movement shenanigans and Greed's ability to get you soulstones. Envy is next up because of his ability to give someone focus and his aura being placed on an enemy rather than on himself. Wrath, Pride and Gluttony. These 3 each have a more specific use for them. Wrath is a pretty good beatstick with his built in heal and ability to buff up Ml damage, as well as drawing attacks away from other models due to his aura that damages you if you don't damage him. Pride is great for forcing making cheating cards really expensive. If you can get his anti-cheat aura in range of a summoner then he is well worth the 8-9ss to get him. Forcing them to discard a card or suffer damage, then if they did cheat fate they have to discard another card or suffer 3 damage. Gluttony likes scheme-marker heavy games. Being able to just get rid of scheme markers as a (0) and giving out a condition that forces an enemy to take damage and get rid of whatever scheme marker was just placed. Sloth is the only one I haven't found a good place for. His ability to put out slow and paralyze is nice, but I just can't figure out how to fit him into any crews.
  12. Hold the phone, she can "jump over" anything? So say she's standing on the outside of a wall and a portcullis. So she can generally see though the door, but it's completely barred off, and a wall between her and her potential target. Positioning her target on the other side of that gate would, by your presented argument, mean she can leap any distance vertically as long as she ends at the same height, allowing her to make the first charge at a full 8" of movement, and 2" Rg. Target charged. But by the same logic, she would never be able to jump and LAND on that same wall we would be willing to allow her to jump COMPLETELY OVER? I mean, I see there needing to be rules and logic and all, but that seems a bit absurd. And I guess you could call this a corner case, but at the same time, if I simply followed the way you outlined the ability here, it would be fully legal for me to do that first charge over a full 2" thick 5" tall wall, as long as I can see through it (Sometimes even without seeing through it, as someone mentioned the Scout the Field upgrade with Outcast-Misaki). The whole Height issue seems like something that could stand to see a bit cleaner rulings. Considering we measure distances without absolute Cardinal directions (IE 2" is 2" any direction, not just north/east/west/south), why is measuring diagonal for vertical movement such an anathema to us? She may ignore terrain. This has a clear definition, if there is terrain in the path between her and her target she may ignore it. If you are trying to move on top of the terrain then you are not ignoring it, and thus have to account for it's height. As for your question about why we don't measure diagonally, it's because we don't. If you want more than that go talk to Wyrd.
  13. Disciple doesn't work with Mulligan. No cards are ever discarded due to the wording of Disciple, so you don't get to draw any (though you can use it to put cards from your hand into your deck and shuffle your deck, if you're so inclined). With Yan Lo he's utterly ridiculous, though. He can copy Yan Lo's excellent heal (10T have a distinct lack of decent ranged target-other-model heals, and are mostly self-healing), or he can copy Ascendance and spend Chi that the Soul Porter has given him to get the Ascendant upgrades. Because who doesn't want a Yu with Impossible to Wound, Incorporeal or Hunpo assault? Having two Terracotta Curses is also pretty bad-ass. "Any cards that this model would discard over the course of the action are shuffled into its deck instead after completing the action". Sensei yu casts disciple for Mulligan. Discards up to 3 cards, then draws the same number. Mulligan is completed, so not the discarded cards are shuffled into the deck. Disciple then resolves. If they didn't want it to work specifically with Mulligan, then they could call out Mulligan as not being a valid target instead of wording it in the way that they did.
  14. The short answer is no, because Misaki only has Rg 2 attacks, meaning a model that is 11" away will be out of range. Additionally there would be no LoS, because the Ht 2 model is too far away from the edge of the terrain per Vantage Point rules(pg 41) Edit: Just saw your second post. My first point still stands. Long answer is still no, assuming we moved her or her target 1" closer to the edge, so that the model isn't outside Misaki's max charge range to begin with. While it's true Misaki ignores terrain while charging, that doesn't apply when you actively want to not ignore terrain, which in this case would be trying to land on the terrain(see FAQ #8 & pg 42 of the rulebook). With her Cg being 8, she would be able to move the 6" up to the terrain, and only 2" left over to try and both scale the terrain and end her movement on it, which is not possible as the terrain is 3" tall.
  15. I would say no. Slug just has you perform a flip, which would make it still part of whatever action causes it. Walking Fire has you perform a completely separate action.
  16. They can be placed in base contact with anything. As long as the trees aren't over other markers you're good.
  17. Illumianted are very tanky and Huggy can just come back, as well as having Incorp and a few built in heals. You're also forcing your opponent to discard cards to protect them for a turn at most.
  18. I would say it's more he wants to cultivate talent. He doesn't care as much for the students that refuse to branch out to other styles.
  19. It's also worth pointing out this bit of the passage "... actions printed on a model's card can be used by that model." An upgrade card isn't a models stat card, and always states what model(s) gains whatever abilities or actions it grants.
  20. Because it gives the action to Luscious. That doesn't mean the action isn't printed on the card The rulebook says that actions printed on a model's card can be used by that model. Therefore, the emissary can use the action printed on the card, and card doesn't say anything because that would be redundant. That's the conclusion that "If the words are printed on the card, it's good enough" leads to. In order for the action to be printed on the card, those words have to printed on the card in the appropriate manner. Embedded in paragraph of text for an Ability is not how an Action is printed on a card. The rule book exists to make general rules. This is a specific rule, and is nowhere near the only one that would contradict the rulebook.
  21. Because it gives the action to Luscious. That doesn't mean the action isn't printed on the card
  22. That first part is just blatantly false. The action is printed on the card. There is no way to deny this. It doesn't matter that the Emissary can't use the action, the action is printed on it's upgrade card, and the Emissary is not leader. Those are the two conditions needed for Mimic to work.
  23. Doppleganger can mimic any (1) action that is printed on a non-leader model's stat card or upgrades. Backstab is an action that is printed on a non-leader model's upgrade, so Doppleganger should be able to use it.
  24. It's not a single declaration, it's three. You declare charge, move the model and then declare the two attacks. The attacks are however a result of and happen during the charge. In my opinion the callout box on p38 "actions causing actions" would imply the effect goes away. It would all have been neater if both this one and channel had stipulated (1) actions or non-charge in their descriptions. How does the callout box imply the effect goes away? From the callout box: "Some abilities may force models to do something when declaring an action (such as taking a duel for manipulative). For these abilities, each new action generated triggers the ability separately." - The ability is is timed on declaration so should follow this box in my mind. I still think with FAQs considered that Somer should get the same boost as Leveticus. Just not happy with actions causing actions and consistency around those parts of the rules in general. You have the option to use Channel and Rock on Head when you declare an action which then causes an effect that lasts the duration of the action. If you wanted to you could activate the action on each attack from charge as well as charge itself because you have to declare each one.
  25. When you move the flying model, you ignore any of the terrain (because it's inconvenient) between where the model starts and where it ends. So you measure through everything else--measure the distance across a wall, don't measure up one side, across the top, and then down again. I believe that does mean that a model on top of one 10" tall tower that wanted to move using Flight to the top of another 10" tall tower would end up calculating the movement as 10" down to the ground, then the distance between the two towers, and then 10" up the other tower. (Edit: Although I think the model on top of the 10" tower does have the option to move off of the tower, fall to the ground harmlessly for free, and then continue moving. So you don't have to pay to climb down the tower...) Because the FAQ for flight says that the model has to pay the vertical movement for its final position: I think the "practicality over fancy effects" version is that even models with Flight have to move along the table surface (ignoring and thus effectively moving "through" terrain as they go), rather than moving their base through the air. That's actually something I hadn't considered, but I agree that RAW a model with flight would still fall as soon as it moves off the terrain and would have to move back up to the top. That would imply that falling doesn't happen until the end of a movement instead of immediately.
