  1. I will definitely give it a try! So far I've been playing only a very unispired Izamu/Manos/Chiaki/Gravedigger/Gokudo/Gokudo list.
  2. you can also deploy deep. and if your opponent happens to be an attacking player, you can deploy Yan as far from Nekima/Lady Justice/other alphastriker as possible.
  3. there is an information on the box (under an asterix) that cards included are only for retail release models (i.e. models which were sold in shops like ordinary boxes), like alt Rogue Necromancy, Graves, Tannen, etc., whereas cards for promotional (i'm not sure if that's how they're called officially) alts are not included.
  4. you mean Concentrate once during its activation and then for the second time after Shen attaches Low River upgrade? you can't concetrate twice.
  5. you're correct. other models are Archie, Carrion Emissary and Nurse. I played Tormented in my very first 3rd edition game and it was a bad idea. Steep learning curve. Not good to begin a new edition with. I know Molly is your only Ressurectionist master. This is going to be a hard time for you. Please, accept my condolences.
  6. Long time no see! My current personal preferences are Redchapelle for Turf War and Reckoning (caveat: my Redchapelle list has only 16ss of Redchapelle models in it), Forgotten for Explosives, and Ancestor for Idols, but I can definitely see myself playing some of these strats in different configuration. Thus, if you prefer attrition over aggresion, you might do well taking Ancestor or Tormented into Reckoning. Forgotten can do well in Idols, BUT you want to avoid Molly if your opponent declares 10T, unless you're 100% sure they won't bring Shenlong. If you want to play Urami, I believe they can be good at everything (although I don't like to give my opponent initiative in Idols). As for Experimental, Revenant and Transmortis, I have no opinion yet.
  7. Frankly speaking, I haven't been very keen on Transmortis after my first reading of the cards, as I really didn't know how to evaluate them then. Now, having many 3ed games under my belt, I have re-read the cards and they make me extremely hyped about the perspective of fielding professor von Schtook and his eager students in the near future. So much free Focused. So much card draw. So much free movement and additional actions. There is a list I am going to try in the nearest future Albus von Schtook 5 ss cache Assistant Gravedigger Anna Valedictorian w/GST Undergraduate A Undergraduate B [Undergraduate C or Necropunk or second GST on someone and more cache] Here's the plan: Gravedigger gives everyone Focused, walks twice or once and takes Concentrate action. Albus gives an uprgrade to the Undegrad A, makes him and Valedictorian Fast, gives Focused to everyone and pushes them. With Academic Broadcast being 6'' you can deploy Undergrad A deep in your deployment, making him less vulnerable (or even invulnerable) to preemptive strike. Undergrad B tries to push Albus or Valedictorian or both or none, depending on the circumstances. Assistant does whatever. Anna does whatever. Valedictorian activates and at this point you can soften a big target for Undergrad A to finish it off (with stat 7, double Focus, Fast and Flurry she can definitely do that), or kill something else which is up to 4'' from the activated model you want to kill later this turn. Undergrad A jumps 2'' from Valedictorian and now can make 3 focused attacks or 2 focused and 2 unfocused attacks to kill the target and summon another student. What can go wrong?
  8. Daydreams are reasonable choice as Ancient Pact holders.
  9. Very interesting points on Yin! I need to finally read her card.
  10. Seamus is a very strong master with a very weak keyword, so going OOK is usually a right move. He's my most played master so far, but I do hesitate to bring him into Planted Explosives or Corrupted Idols. However, he is perfect for both Turf War and Reckoning. This is the crew I am toying since the beginning of 3ed and I recommend you trying it: Seamus /The Wisper Copycat Killer Archie Carrion Emissary Nurse Dead Doxy Dead Doxy Dead Dandy To get more value out of Seamus you want to be able to make two focused attacks on turn one, and that's why you bring Nurse and Emissary (both are great models on their own). Archie is here for mobility and more pressure already from turn one. Most strats and schemes require you reach at least the centerline to score, so being able to tie opposing forces close to their deployment zone already on turn one can deny them many points. Seamus' main strenght is his mobilty and ability to pick a model and remove it from the game. His preferred targets are big minions or enforcers with Df 5 (that's another reason why Seamus likes his Emissary: Injured!). However, he is very fragile and susceptible to focused attacks which are ubiquitous in competitive meta. This makes him a really sad panda in front of mobile and hard-hitting Masters with access to free focus. I haven't played against Viktorias yet, but I can imagine they can be a very difficult matchup for him.
  11. Are you sure you've never played Malifaux before? Because you sound very informed 😉 As for Shenlong, I think tmod wanted to say that his keyword offers a lot in terms of support, not that Shenlong is a supportive master (he definitely can support his crew, but at the same time he likes to be supported to maximize his offensive powers). Usually, you have to declare a single faction during a tournament. The only exception I am aware of is Trinity: you play three different masters in three different factions (or three different factions only, I am not sure about that).
  12. I recommend running Grave Spirit's Touch on Jack and one of the Hanged, as it grants them Regeneration +2, which makes them (especially Jack) more durable. It also increases already high TN for Horror Duel on the Hanged. As for SS, you need plenty, at least 6 imho, as Hanged are Attuned and you will be more than happy to keep them alive using these soulstones.
  13. I have seen two of these used with Daydreams. You are keeping them backfield anyway for pushes and lucid dreaming, so the risk is relatively small.
  14. Wyrd says on their webpage that Collodi's fate will be revelead soon, so I expect him to come back with new card and title. Some people speculate that he will be among Explorer's Society masters (searching for his creator), which I don't find very persuasive, as he hardly fit the aesthetic of the faction. But who knows.
  15. Currently, I don't feel there is any strong difference between factions in terms of playstyles - the difference is mainly aesthetical one. However, within factions there is a whole variety of different crews, organized around Masters and divided into Keywords: every master has a Keyword linked to him and in most cases models who share a Keyword synergize with each other. Obviously, each Keyword has a different playstyle too. So if we are to help you, you need to specify what do you expect of the crew you would eventually like to play.
  16. As for alt Philip and Nanny, I was thinking of her standing on a piece of rock fiercely beaten by waves. I think the restless sea will match the aura of the miniature quite well.
  17. I'm sure it cannot be on purpose - Soulstone Miner seems to be a model balanced around beta-version of Stunned. Now it is just too good, especially with that Gremlin upgrade which translates markers into Focused. To my mind, Mine Soulstone should be reworded to resemble the way Stunned worked in beta, e.g. "At the start of this model's Activation, it may add one Soulstone to this Crew's Soulstone Pool. If it does so, this model cannot take Bonus actions this turn".
  18. That's a good point! I wasn't aware of that. Anyway, in our game my opponent used Drop it! on Barker's pistol to force a marker and summon on turn one and it was the last instance of him summoning anything this game.
  19. Nurse brings card draw (kinda), healing and free focus, beside of many situational but still usefull abilities (bedside manners, distracted, daze, condition removal), which makes her a perfect addition to every crew. I don't say she's necessary in every crew, but I don't see how she is not usefull outside Experimental and I can't imagine myself playing Seamus without her.
  20. I think the easiest way to learn the answer is to read Nellie's card.
  21. I feel that faction is much more diverse and interesting to play now than it was in 2ed, when most masters where summoners and the faction as a whole suffered from that (especially from Nicodem's non-restricted summoning). I really like the way the faction has changed. I feel that your judgement about it is based solely on the reading of the cards - I recommend playing some games, your perception of what which keyword is supposed to do may change.
  22. Titania, Von Schtook and Lucius all play in a different way, so you and your guests are going to experience Malifaux in all its variety! Have you already seen Guild models available for Lucius? I think Guild Investigator (that one with a dead body wrapped in a carpet) may fit your taste in victorian macabresque.
