  1. There is a way to possibly out range the viks with hoff but it's a difficult match up for sure. Emmisary, mobile toolkit + austringer and possibly a death marshal. Toolkit gives +dg to emmisary. Austringer moves up flank 7" Death marshal charges Austringer and buries him. Hoffman makes toolkit slow gains fast, loops in his otehr construct (probably peacekeeper) for free. (0) fro scrap and (1) to give targetting upgrade to emmisary. (1) Machine puppet with rams to give emmisary fast + Focus. (1) Machine Puppet Emmisary Masks to push 2" and shoot with Range 18" ignore LOS+Cover sh7 +damage flips. Repeat last 2 (except dont use rams for first one as he already has fast). Emmisary activates with fast, + flips to damage, Built in rams (from discarding upgrade) and has a 12" sh7 ignores los and cover shooting attack with built in crit strike and +dg flips. It's pretty sweet when you pull it off and it's situational on terrain but you can catch a vik on tehir back foot with it at times for sure.
  2. I have a standing theory that people concentrate too much on the construct theme whenever they take him and end up picking a whole crew based aorund powerlooping. I honestly think you are better having 3 powerloop targets and build the rest of the crew with otehr things like scheme runners or anti scheme runners. That way you are only really spending 1 ap from hoff (Which is usually from OSA anyway) to loop your 3 constructs. Then go to town with healing/machine puppets.
  3. This line alone makes me wonder why people don't rate Som'er higher!? He's so damn adaptable
  4. I would still put Som'er as a higher tier than all the other masters. Agreed the otehr do their 1 thing better, Ophellia shooting, ulix summoning, but Som'er has them as he really isn't that far behind in either field. Having the flexibility to do both, while not as well is a major factor in his tier ranking imo. Add to that his squeel even if attacks miss unlike the others, the ability to make that trigger "built-in" relatively easily for a (0), the ability to deny triggers if needed for a (0), Bayou Two card and finally (and coupled with) "Bigger Hat Than You!" makes him a lot more powerful than just the sh/ca stats on his cards imo. I play him regularly and I'd say in the right hands he is borderline OP. Hell making opponents lose their control hands every turn after the first is absolutley devastating when you're running a full bayou two card crew.
  5. Looking at that wong list I would advise taking at least 1 death marshal. Gracie is tanky (I assume she'll be glowy too) and likely getting reactivate. Easiest way to deal with those turbo tanky models who like close combat? Bury 'em. Rail golems, Peacekeepers, Giant pigs..... stuff em in a box and keep that high card in hand to stop them getting out again. Austringers are a safe bet. Merris is a prime target for them to be focussing down. One of the biggest issues is the Pigapult I guess. With Sonnia only df 4 and it sh5 (reduces sh by one when it sac's a stuffed piglet) it will hit more often than not. For that reason it may be worth while dropping the judge and looking at fransisco with "Hermanos" to pull sonnia along the table. If she gets within 14" of the pigapult she has a prime target to start blasting off. I always run the effigy with sonnia. She goes down to a stiff breeze but with the effigy around as long as you keep her above 0 wounds she can heal up ridiculous levels (especially in close combat). Healing one wound for each enemy damage with her blasts all over the table? Really good 4ss choice for her.
  6. this is along the lines i was thinking, throwing 3 stuffed piglet to surround one model and send the taxidermist reckless with dirty cheater across the board at another.
  7. I hadn't thought about the fact that they are Rare 6 I wouldn't be able to create extras until one dies, good point! Have you found that the "dead mans switch" has been a deterrent to opponents at all? Seems like with good positioning (pigapult) you could really force your opponents hand when trying to take him out.
  8. Mechanical pig and mechanical cats are already a thing I guess! Don't 10T have a mechanical hound looking thing (I'm not that clued up with 10T models) I want to say something beggining with "K". Little metal dog/lion things with flames inside em?
  9. Lenny is an awesome addition not only giving you rams and damage reduction for all near but alows the BG's to go drunk and reckless for 1 damage rather than 2. However don't count out using Trixiebelle instead. While I've not use dit in 35, in 50ss having a skeeter to do it like dis for masks, somer spawning 3 gremlins, slop haulers heal them up to full. Then once you've out activated get all the bayous to shoot somer (and miss) to make him squeel across the board to within 12" of the enemy master. (stone for cards if you dont have at least 2x 11+ cards and a mask on the draw) Trixie cheats initiative next turn, somer does do it like dis for masks (ensuring squeel for the turn) and then bigger hat than you their master and shoot twice stoning for rams if you really want to pump damage. A lot of opponents crews will be punished playing every turn thereafter with no control hand, you having squeel built in and bayou two card.
  10. So I ordered the Creative taxidermy over the easter sale originally just for the stuffed piglets but started looking at how useful these guys can be. I doubt I would run more than one in a list and would likely run a full 6 stuffed with him. Read up on the PMF page but thought I'd also ask here how people have found them first hand. On paper it looks like a full compliment of stuffed piglets could be a deterent for your enemy killing him at least but how practical is that? Right now the obvious choice seems to be: Taxidermimst 6x stuffed piglets Pigapult. Anyone got any feedback from using him?
  11. Abuela running alongside Santiago is not a bad combo. She can pass a wound off to santiago to get him to that special 4wounds area. If you're doing that though you might want fransisco there for el mayor on santiago to keep him a little safer once there. A lot of peopel EM Perdita for a stupidly high df/wp9 and I'm starting to think there are just better targets for EM such as abuela and santiago. Dita deals out enough damage herself to not need more heavy hits form a nearby fransisco. Df/wp7 (and poosibly stubborn anyway) is high enough to keep her from getting into too much trouble usually anyway. Split them up and put your big threats on either side and use EM to force multiply rather than just skyrocketing perdita. Since she only has 10 wds and she almost always wants to spend her ap shooting take the effigy. If you get abuela to shotgun wedding it it can drag 'dita around the board (relocate), saving her ap for shooting and can give her 3 wds back per activation. Austringers are always great but I'm still a fan of the papa box. Activate papa, give hold this to dita and go df+2. DM buries and just runs headlong towards the enemy. We all know the trick. Plus if something is really troubling just bury it and hide.
  12. If you really want to use the emmisary bury shennanigans you might want to look more at guild pathfinders, watchers and cheaper options for activation control. Hoffman - Arc assets, Field mech, OSA Mech Attendant Guild pathfinder Guild Pathfinder Howard Langston Emmisary Watcher Watcher 4ss pool. You'd have to play pretty aggressive but could work well for something like hunting party or killy schemes. Deploy pathfinders up the board with from the shadows and deploy traps turn 1 trying to block lines and filter certain lanes off and focus shoot anything tehy can see so opponent cant ignore them. Activate Howard and just go df+2 (wastes an opponents activation) Activate Hoff and make attendant slow, loop howard for free. loop Watchers preferably with trigger for 1AP, Hydraulics on the emmisary for 1AP then double machine puppet him to walk forward twice draggin hoff along behind him. Now emmisary is up to 14" forward so hide him in cover etc. Move mech attendant up. Move watchers to flanks to go do schemes or scheme markers to unbury. Lastly activate your fast, nimble emmisary and do what you like really. Shoot, charge, drag hoffman right into the thick of it? Next turn you should have plenty scheme markers around the table with watchers and pathfinders (who can drop them this turn and a mini hoffball of death in the enemy deployment zone for turn 2) Leaving you with traps and pathfinders covering centre/flanks and watchers dropping schemes. Howard, emmisary doing the heavy lifting and hoffman just keeping them alive using all his AP to heal and machine puppet those two. hell since you don't need nimble anymore remove it with field mech and give him targetting systems, bury howard with machine puppet. now your emmisary can have up to 3 attacks with auto trigger decapitation. Your issue would be in getting teh emmisary to survive at leats until hoffmans second turn activation so he can heal him back up. Depending on who you are facing then the armour plating might be a better choice than the hydraulics.
  13. iirc there was a post (I wanna say by Aaron but may have been Justin) mentioning that they would love to release The Other Side later this year (read that as GenCon) but they wanted to do extensive playtesting on it and it would be ready when it was ready rather than aiming for a strict release date such as GenCon. All but confirmed we'll see a Book 4 and with all of the models currently unrelease from 1,2&3 being in production it's likely you'll see the last few remnants of those models and maybe a couple of models form the new book as special editions/limited releases at genCon. I'm expecting: Last few wave 3 models, Book 4, Nightmare Guild crew box, nightmare Arcanist model, a couple of special edition boxes/models from the new book maybe (if all teh models from current released book are already in production). And a preview/demo of The Other Side. then a general release of otehrside around Black Friday.
  14. Gremlin player here. Levi I've played against once and he caused me some trouble, destroying ashes to pull himself forawrd then shooting into by bayous after cutting himself and stonign for the trigger to pop abomination up right in my crowd of bayous. Hit before they get a chance to spawn too many. Gremlins (at leats when i use them) like to stick nearby each other. Every crew I use are pretty synergy reliant with things like merris, old cranky, lenny, slop haulers, do it like dis from skeeters and somer. This has left them pretty vulnerable to the viks. More than once I've lost half+ crew to a catapulting, oathkept, whirlwinding vik. Failing that Trapper or two to take out the slop haulers early on? The grem player is less inclined to reckless every turn if they can;t get those wounds back. If I'm playing against gremlins I usually know I have to hit them hard and fast otherwise they are going to overwhelm me in numebrs or have better board position due to most of them having reckless by about turn 3. So get in there and take out some key models before they get too much to handle.
  15. Cool, that's how we played it at least. Thought it would be the case! Cheers!!
  16. Hey all. What would happen in this situation. a death marshal buries an opponents model. The opponent makes a strategic Withdrawl at the start of the next turn. the player controlling the death marshals takes the rest of his turns as normal so do you make opposing wp duels with the buried models even though they withdrew? Do the models count as dead and suffer a finished off flip? what if they win the duel and unbury?
  17. a few guild and gremlin ideas... a Hoffman t-shirt with "Walk this way!" Across it... in light of a recent movie release an Ortega one with "guns and chimichangas" a lucius t-shirt "please... I have lackeys for that!" Guild McMourning with "I love saying that" A gremlin t shirt with build instructions printed on for a gremlin in 30+ different pieces. a top hat on a t shirt with the phrase "I'm getting my bro!" A trixie t shirt with "I will gremlin lure you..." a lenny t-shirt "sorry, I'm immune to conditions" a "bigger hat than you" t shirt t shirts with actions printed on e.g. a gremlin t shirt with set er off rule printed stating "the wearer must charge..." a hoffman t shirt with "the wearer gains the power looped condition at the start of their activation" a lucius t shirt just sayin "Lackey"
  18. Well you deduct a at least one tortoise and hare from your tear stained battlefield as they'll sit amongst my collection (despite not playing 10t or arcanists..... I'm a sucker for LE and alts)
  19. Sorry to hear that (but my wallet isn't), look forward to them in the future. Seeing as I haven't built any of my Black Friday stuff yet I'm sure I've got plenty to work with for now!
  20. Feb newsletter no longer lists Witchling handlers as a Feb release whereas the "upcoming" section and the Jan newsletter did. I'm guessing they're either accidentally missed or slipped til at least April now?
  21. Was pointed out to me for Hans with the brutal emmisary. even more so with Hoffman. Loop the emmisary, machine puppet for fast trigger and bury hans, possibly machine puppet to focus. activate emmisary do smile like this and take one focussed, one unfocussed shot to shoot 2 upgrades off within 18" and the opponent can't discard cards to stop it like they do with hans. Then end the activation and hans drops out ready to activate and shoot for himself. Brings some range to an otherwise melee centric crew. Or just go for shots everywhere. And pop Hans out wherever your watcher is laying scheme markers after you've gotten rid of that essential upgrade or two.
