  1. Yes, it does. Because by default multiple instances of the same effect stack. There's a whole callout box in the rulebook specifying the exceptions (Rules Manual, page 63, it's almost the entire page), but multiple auras is one of the examples of things that do stack. Note that there are auras which are worded things like "Enemy models within 6 of one or models with _____ suffer ______", and that's one of the ways of writing an aura which doesn't stack with itself.
  2. This situation still falls under the 'effects which end your activation' FAQ entry: Because the part about Paralyzed effectively ending the activation is in the third paragraph. So at the moment all Paralyzed gained due to Terrifying prevents the model taking any actions after the one that caused the Horror duel.
  3. Where do you get the idea that the markers are "floating"? All of the markers in a stack are considered to be in the same physical location--on the table. The fact that you're not using infinitely thin planar markers doesn't change the fact that Markers are, by the default definition, simply a position on the table with no Ht value. After all, you'll note the part in the rules where it doesn't matter what order markers are stacked.
  4. I assume you mean that the action should specify "+1 Ca to Actions" or "+1 Ca to Duels", since that's where the ambiguity is.
  5. I think the major feature which will improve the interaction with the game is to make the significant terrain features a whole number of inches tall, and design the flat surfaces keeping mind that bases have to stand on top of that surface. Stairs and ladders are really difficult to make both look good and functional at the same time, and the sort of staircase you see in a dollhouse don't work unless you specifically have 'model support wedges' (or lots of non-sticking clay) to put underneath the model so that it can walk up the stairs while remaining level. (Models that walk up stairs at an angle fall over, break, and make everyone sad. ) Two of the functional approaches that I've seen: a staircase build out of overlapping platforms (where each platform was large enough for a model to stand on); a ladder built with base sized slots so that you can slide a miniature's base into the slot. If you want models to be able to move around underneath the platform, you're probably going to want to make the platform three inches tall.
  6. Why not? Anna Lovelace has the Mercenary characteristic (as rare as that is in Ressurectionists) and I don't see any special rule on her card saying she won't work for Guild.
  7. The sticking point isn't the part about Bete Noire arriving because the model was killed, it's the part about Bete Noire arriving with "may unbury in base contact with the killed model before removing it from play." Blind Sacrifice, the option in question, starts off "Target friendly model within 6" may draw a card and then discard a card. The target may Activate immediately after the current Activation ends as a Chain Activation." So the Corpse Candle is "killed" but you have to leave it on the table (and thus still in play) in order for the rest of action to make sense. And because the Corpse Candle is still on the table, Bete Noire hasn't arrived yet. Edit: That, and as Adran points out, Bete Noire isn't on the table yet when you declare the action. Per the action declaration rules, all of the choices (things like "choose one of the following" and "target friendly model") for an Action have to be declared before you resolve the action. In other words, the target for the choices is declared before the Corpse Candle is killed, and at that point Bete Noire isn't within the distance.
  8. As far as I can tell, the Divergent Paths games are in addition to whatever weekly event the campaign generates. Just like how you can play one of the small box story encounters as a campaign game, you add the changes made by the campaign rules and the weekly event to the rest of the rules for the encounter.
  9. The effect is ending, it's not being triggered. That's the difference, and why 'Hold This' is going to end when Papa gets killed while buried.
  10. Little Big Wars in Fargo has signed up to host the Divergent Paths event. We're still getting organized, but we should have the posters and the log book ready on Monday. Open play format, I'm partial to getting 'Malifaux Mondays' going but still nailing down the details. Will update this thread as we get organized. Disclaimer: Just a Minion in motion.
  11. Yeah, as far as I can tell it's referring back to "We ask is that you keep track of every player who plays in at least one event game during each section of the event (every two weeks)." So the ten weeks are divided into five (5) two-week sections, and you've got to show up and play a game during each section. I think I'm going to be scratch building some Malifaux players this week, hopefully be able to get an actual event game in by the weekend.
  12. De gustibus non disputandum est, even if the rest of the world has bad taste. And popularity is just another passing flavor.
  13. In no particular order... You need line of sight to the scheme marker because it says the key word target. Vertical distance is currently only accounted for while moving, and then it's being done according to the terms of what's allowing the vertical movement: Falling down is free but may cause damage Moving up (and safely down for incorporeal) costs 1" per 1" when using incorporeal or flying Moving up (and safely down) costs 2" per 1" when using the Climbable terrain attribute There isn't (yet) a FAQ to reign in placement going up and down ridiculously tall terrain features.
  14. If you want the full model information, you're only real choice is to buy/borrow the books, either in paperback format (about $45 each, I think) or in PDF (about $28 each, I think). Wyrd has announced an crew builder app which presumably will have the model information in it, but that won't be until the end of the year sometime, knock on wood and prayers to the software testing spirits. While there's an increasing trend in the industry to make all of the model information available for free as a way to advertise the game to new players, Wyrd and a lot of the other older game companies are still working in the "We publish very nice books with that information, and nice stories to go with it" model. It looks like Wyrd might be shifting towards making the model information more open (they put the master cards up on the website last month, which was a big surprise at the time), but it's probably going to take a while before they adopt the "free information as advertising" approach.
  15. That's okay. Plenty of other factions think that paying 13SS for Aionus is fine.
  16. There's a problem with your question. You can't freely interchange 'target model' and 'selected model'/'chosen model'. Because 'target model' requires that there's line of sight, and that's an important distinction to internalize. The answer to the question "Does that mean I could place it underneath the chosen model?" is "You should be able to." (Same problem as in the first question.) I'm sure you're referring to the FAQ entry which doesn't permit that sort of thing when placing in base contact. The various marker placement effects have different limitations, and the FAQ is just clarifying what "place in base contact" means. Note that it's used in many different effects beyond Interact actions. The FAQ can't be forbidding placing markers overlapping models, so you should still be able to place the marker overlapping the chosen model to satisfy the 'within 3"' requirement.
  17. You're remembering wrong. It's summoning that has the rule that it fails if there's no room:
  18. Ah, okay. There it is. The relevant portion for players (addressing the store owner), because it's a bit hard to find:
  19. From the newsletter: The details don't see to be up yet. Is it a raffle for a certain number of figures each two weeks? I want to go bug my local game store owner to sign up, what do I tell them to do?
  20. Touching any particular point on the table doesn't mean that the model is occupying that point on the table. So touching the Centerline of the table doesn't mean that the model is simultaneously on both sides of the centerline. There are games where areas are defined in that sort of manner. When a person plays that sort of game, that person can point to the definitions in the rules as proof for why a model is in a region when it is touching that region. Note the absence of those definitions in the rulebook. More importantly, this is a game with premeasuring and open measurement. If a model is known to start a given distance from the centerline (say, because of deployment) and it advances only that distance to the centerline, it hasn't crossed the centerline. If it's unclear what distance a model is from the centerline, the mechanic that the players choose to use to determine an answer before proceeding with the game doesn't change any of these facts. So, again, touching the centerline of the table doesn't mean that a model/marker/object is on both or either side of the centerline. The model/marker/object has to actually have part of its base on the other side of the line.
  21. The statement that you deploy your models completely within the zones in a different section of the rulebook. It's page 92 of the rules manual, under Deploy Crews: That's why you can't deploy 6"+base size forward.
  22. I'd be sort of skeptical of "just touching" qualifying in this case just because of the unique definitions that apply: So you'd have to be whatever fraction of an inch past the Centerline to be considered on a side of the table. You could be on both halves at the same time, but not by virtue of just touching the Centerline.
  23. Which continent are you on? Got an online store in the US which claims to have two in stock: http://chaosorc.com/product_info.php/arcanist-brass-arachnid-blister-packet-p-24377
  24. Huh. Double checking the PDF's, the PDFs appear to be wrong, too. So it looks like someone caught the mistake when preparing the card, but then the process stumbled.
  25. The simplest thing to do would be to just say that the table doesn't have a Centerline. Searching for "Centerline", I see four references to it in abilities in Crossroads models and I don't think lacking a Centerline "breaks" any of the abilities. It means that Vanessa won't be able to gain her bonus, but there are going to be other abilities that are going to end up useless in a strange format game like Pit Fight, anyway, because no one is going to have a Leader in the game. On a related note, if someone decided to use Ashes and Dust, I would say that everywhere would be more than 6" away from the non-existent "enemy deployment zone". Otherwise, you'd pretty much need to do something like flip a card for each of the four possible centerlines and highest card determines it.
