    Newish player here! Coming from Warhammer via Infinity and for some time now, playing Malifaux with a few friends - for whom I also paint stuff. Feel free to comment and criticise - I'm always happy to find ways to become a better painter First off: Ressers - the McMourning starter, painted for a friend.
  2. First of all sorry for my english and possible game mistakes, I didn't take notes in the tournament and I can do mistakes here. This will be a different Tournament report, I will tell you my impressions and my game style, that report will be of the valuable actions of every turn, and I will save my oponent crews in case they do not want to teach them, I will not post my crew or his crew, but if you read you cant take notions of it. G1 Darky NB Zoraida G2 Jon Ortiz TT McCabe G3 Rober Resus Yanlo G4 Linar Guild Hoffman G5 Antonio Arcanist Ramos G1 Zoraida's crew with 2 Will o'the Wisp to summon Grupps from the 2Ap of the Mother and Dolls from Zoraida, for me his biggest error was expose Zoraida to Snow charge on T2, with my Gamin I can kills Zoraida really fast. T1 With one push from Angelica Banasuva charge to Nekima T2 He expose Zoraida to do an Obey on Snow and Snow charge her T3 Snow kills Zoraida, Sandeep kills enemy sucker one Will o'the Wisp T4 Nekima kills my sucker and later I kill Nekima with my Vendetta Oxfordian, Sandeep kills the Spawn Mother T5 With only a few models in enemy crew I take the rest of the points One great game and great opponent, his crew seems powerful with the Will o'the Wisp taking 2Ap's actions I was took Vendetta on Nekima, Sucker on one Oxfordian and the central mission was Ply Result: 9 - 5 Win. G2 McCabe's crew with a Emissary, Jorogumo and a lot of minions to give upgrades, the deployment kills my enemy, he put his 50mm miniatures cover the rest of the crew and the escenography doesn't let him pass T1 Banasuva charge to McCabe and Snow discard IE to charge Yin with the Gamin and engaged with Luna and Emissary T2 Snow kills Yin and Luna, my crew takes positions and do some dmg on his crew T3 Sandeep kills Jorogumo, the Oxfordians kills Emissary, a Monk and dismount McCabe T4/T5 McCabe move, reactivate and move to take points, I kill the rest of the enemy crew except Sun Quiang for Take the Prisoner My opponet loss for the table elements, he play good the miniatures but he can't pass and with my placements, pushes and teleports I doesn't have problems with that I was took Hold up, Take the Prisoner and the central mission was Symbols, I kills so fast his crew that I can't take points of Hold up, mistake here Result: 7 - 2 Win. G3 Yanlo with full spirits and Sybelle + 2 Rottens, so much movement tricks in this crew T1 One Oxfordian take Vendetta from Datsue Ba, Banasuva kills 2 Seishins to cut his activation control, a Rotten takes Vendetta from one Oxfordian T2 He expose Yanlo and Snow charges to him, mi crew takes positions and do some dmg T3 Sandeep + one Oxfordian kills Yanlo, Snow charge and engage with 3 miniatures, the rest of the Oxfordians push the wagon and do some dmg T4 I kill his sucker with fire that was Datsue Ba, he doesn't take points and I take 2 points from Vendetta, I kill all his crew except Sybelle, Chiaqui and 1 Rotten that can't let me move his wagon to denny his points T5 Continue the fight to move his wagon nothing inportant happens I can't kill Sybelle or Chiaqui, and can't move the wagon My opponent plays pretty well but his crew have a lot of incorporeal models and my crew have full Ca attacks, that lets me kill him really fast I was took Vendetta, Hold up and the central mission was Symbols Result: 10 - 5 Win. In that point I was happy but knew the last day would be hard, what I didn't know was how fucking lucky that I was going to be... G4 This man plays milimetrical, is a really good player, and his crew, for me, is the best in Malifaux: Hoffman + Ryle T1 He do his chain on Ryle with triple Obey and kills 2 of my Oxfordians, Sandeep push him closer and summon Banasuva and Gamin, Banasuva hit him, and later Snow walk and hit him with the first big luck of the day RJ on dmg, Ryle ends to 1Wd T2 Snow discard IE and triple hit with and... can't do 1 dmg on Ryle he has Df8 because of 'El Mayor', Hoffman Obey Ryle and get him out of the combat, Banasuva charges to Hoffman T3 My Sandeep kills Hoffman with a moderate on , Ryle can't come closer because I can summon a Metal Gamin or teleport an Oxfordian to kill him, we fight for the points, place markers and move carefully T4 Snow kills Ryle and engage with Francisco T5 Angelica push my miniatures to get points and Sandeep kill the Guild Investigator that deny my markers For me the most dificult game in the tournament, we move very carefully but when I start with 2 Oxfodian killed that was terrible, for my luck I have the RJ on dmg from Snow and that was a reliable point, in all moment I try to get my important miniatures like Sandeep or Snow in the range of Medical I was took Eliminate the Leadership and Search the Ruins central mission was Public Executions Result: 10 - 1 Win. G5 I know he is a great player and in fact are the only with me that goes 4 - 0 so that will be hard again, he plays the Vox Ramos list, that push you with Mauler, Cojo and Captain and does 12 - 16 dmg out cards, bad news T1 Like in the G4 we move carefully, he put Strike markers with Ramos and the Child, I push an Oxfordian out of range of the markers, and summon Banasuva and Gamin ready to charge the Mauler, at this point starts the fight, he uses the Captain to push my Banasuva back, but I move one Oxfordian and shot my own Banasuva to push him again in charge range, Banasuva charge to the Mauler with +1dmg and , doing 9dmg + burning on the bear, and with melee expert atack hit the captain with a RJ on dmg, he prevents but gets BJ and die... this is the second point of luck and the biggest, Mauler dies at the end of the turn for burning T2 At this point he lost so many pushes, and the Strike markers doesn't are effective, I have the table control. Snow discard IE and charge to Union Steamfitter to try kill him and stop the scrap generation from Ramos, Snow can't do it and Sandeep finish the job T3/T4 I kill all his miniatures except Ramos, that can't move from his deployment zone, we decide stop play in this point I really have a lot of luck in the fist charge, because my Banasuva can't cheat the fate, the Mauler have a low defense but the Captain ... and he has bad luck on the prevention. Opponent crew and game style was good and hard but sometimes the deck want to speak. I was took Undercover and Guarded Treasure, central mission was Ours Result: 8 - 2 Win. I play a hight movilithy crew, pushes, teleports, placements and more pushes, with two/three heavy hitters and two supports, all the games have the Medical near to my key miniatures like Sandeep, Snow or Oxfordians My priority was engaged or kill his valuable miniatures with Banasuva/Snow and take position with my Oxfordians all the time that I hit I do with thx to the Gamin Try to not waste cards on hurt, select the right moment and waste cards on kill, a miniature do the same job on 1Wd or 10Wd Hope you enjoyed this report and thanks for reading

    Mei Feng in GG 2018

    Hello Arcanists Forum dwellers! I've been away from the hobby for a couple of years and come back to find my only master is "bottom tier" (I say this like such a thing matters or even makes sense, but it still irks me that she might not be the most tournament competitive anymore). I've been scouring the forums for current discussion on her post wave 5 and in GG2018. I was hoping to stimulate some discussion on how people are using MEI nowadays or what they're bringing with her. What works, what's lackluster etc. In a flurry of excitement with limited reading I've gone and picked up Amin Naidu, medical automatons, steamfitters to add to my Ramos box, Rail golem and metal gamin (now very out of vogue post nerf apparently) I'm also hoping to nab an arcane effigy soon. Having trouble finding a place with Mech porky in stock (Australia tax aka international postage) otherwise bid likely have ordered him too. Any early opinions on my choices? I proxies a steamfitter in my first game back for a public execution game and was quite impressed. Next game will be vs outcasts... Ply Surround them Covert breakthrough Set up Take prisoner, take one for the team. Since I'm still learning we've shared lists in advance so I don't mind posting what I'm bringing to get people's opinions on how to approach this. Declared Faction: Arcanists Crew Name: how meiny ply? 50ss Leader: Mei Feng - Cache:(3) Seismic Claws 1ss Arcane Reservoir 2ss Rail Lines 1ss Emberling 3ss Amina Naidu 9ss Imbued Energies 1ss Kang 9ss Union Steamfitter 6ss Medical Automaton 5ss Rail Worker 5ss Willie 6ss I was hoping to stay balled up I. Media gas cloud in the middle, pulling people out of position with Amina and rendering key beaters useless and peonising him slowly while keeping her alive with stones she'll be generating and the mech Auto. Also have Willie as a ranged threat to poke at them if they're unwilling to advance or throw things at their hiding scheme runners. I'll have a couple of good options for the sucker, or could use the emberling to either run or fake surround or covert. How did I go making this? I'm keen to really try and invest in making Amina work. Do I not have enough punch? How do you strike the balance between ply and pow for activation control? I know my opponent is fielding vonschill with Sue, midnight stalker and a librarian, Hannah and strongarm. Ouch! Any Pointers given I'm not backing out of this list now? I think it'll be hard to Protect my back line with this matchup now.... Also if MS goes scheming Willie probably won't be able to kill him 😕 Thanks in advance fellow Arcanists

    My finished Rail Crew

    This one was kind of a big deal for me. I'd painted miniatures before but always guys in full metal armour, 40k necrons, zombies and tree people. Regular people were new, it was also a interesting challenge to try and blend vallejo colours to get a asian skin tone since lots of premade ones were questionably orange or yellow compared to real people from the same region the Ten Thunders come from. Think it turned out okay overall and was quite a learning experience. Definitely love the Rail Golem and it should look great on the tabletop, not too happy with the Emberling as i've never painted anything close to that type of material before. For the most part though its my first finished painting project in like 13 years and i'm super happy to have something ready for the table beyond just priming 😛
  5. I'm relatively new to Malifaux, been playing for about 2 months but the game has inspired me to paint like never before. My first crew is a Leveticus crew with all the bells and whistles, and I'll post that up if I can get a decent shot of all of them. But for the past few weeks, I've been eagerly painting up the Nightmare Edition Dark Carnival box that my friend picked up from Adepticon 2016, plus a few in-theme extras (Angelica, Coryphee), and I'm really excited to share this here as my first ever post on the forums. Some models were more interesting to paint than others, but overall I had a blast working through this crew, and it's quite a brain burner in-game too! Here goes...

  8. Hello Everyone! Like my friend Shadowfane, I have just gotten my first few games of Malifaux under my belt. I've opted for Guild, although I have already paintd some 10Thunders models as a random project. I thought I would share them here in the hopes that it will motivate me to finish what I have started! Please add comments and recommendations, I'm trying to get my head around painitng such beautifully detailed models, sometimes I think I take short-cuts just to get something looking finished! My first Malifaux mini, an Oiran. A bit dark, so I shall try get some better photos! Shang (Misaki is on the way!). I wanted to try my hand at 'realistic' flames. On a model who is nothing but fire I was a bit daunted by it, but I'm quite happy with the way he turned out. The flash is a bit bright (I have some work to do on my picture-taking it seems!), but it kinda helps him shine. And finally, my current project, Lady Justice. I got a bit excited with the tiny leaves, I really wanted to get a sense of movement to the model (the hair alone should do that, right?!) and have had this little box of maple leaves begging to be used, so I thought she was the perfect model to try them on! These seems to be a horrible dark bit on the side of her face which I'm going to look at this evening, I hadn't noticed it until I took the photos As our adventures in Malifaux continue, I hope to be adding much more to this post - so keep checking back!   9. Hello, I originally started Malifaux with Gremlins and after playing them for a bit decided I do not like how they play. So I am open to suggestions in starting a new faction, I am looking at the following masters in outcasts, arcanists and had a few questions about 10T as a whole faction. For outcasts, I am looking at Parker, Misaki, Viktoria, Schill, Possibly Tara/Leveticus (I hear Leveticus is a bit op so I may have to steer clear.) For arcanists, I am looking at Colette, Ironsides, Marcus, Ramos, Sandeep For 10T faction, Is it a faction that is difficult to play? I read that it is a synergy based faction and I am curious if since gremlins didn't really work for me that 10T might be a miss as well. If folks have some recommendations on what to try/whos their favorite let me know, cause I am stuck lol. Thanks in advance.

    Play against Dreamer

    Hello! I have a question about tactics, that can I use in play against The Dreamer. I have Marcus, Kaeris and Colette. Which one can I take against The Dreamer? He have next roster: Dreamer, Teddy x2, Daydreams x3, Widow Weaver and Insidious Madness. Upgrades are different between different games. I have a big problems with two Teddies. But when he summon Chompi - I have a terrible troubles... Teddies hold my models. Or just kill them... I'm newer and played not so much games. And maybe I don't understand some subtlety in game. Can you help me?

  13. Sandeep's Tutelage upgrade lets him copy a Ca action from a friendly Academic once per turn (and also lets him temporarily make models Academics). Both of Amina Naidu's (0) actions have triggers that let her use a different action on her card for free. If he copies one of Amina's (0) actions and gets the suit he needs, say Missing Forms for example, is he able to take the free Collier Navy Sh action from Amina or not? I want to say the answer is no, since Sandeep doesn't have those other actions on his card, but I am not sure if that matters. What about when he copies Freeze from a Tutored Silent One and gets the Frozen Shards trigger, where the free additional action is the same one as the spell that was originally copied? I think that this one is legal, but I am not sure. Tutelage allows Sandeep access to the Freeze spell for one action, and until the new Freeze action from the trigger is resolved, the original Freeze spell is not considered resolved (see Actions Causing Actions, pg 36 mini rulebook). If anyone can point me to more definitive proof on how this sort of copy ability works I'd love to see it.

  15. Yesterday I played the first game of a 6 week campaign. It was Joss vs Candy playing Turf War. Joss came out on top 9-6 but Candy got the wandering relic. By the end Joss, Howard, the gunsmith (Percy), and metal gamin (Oliver) controlled the turf. Anyway here's One Man's Trash is Another Man's Battlefield One Man’s Trash is Another Man’s Battlefield Joss crested the hill overlooking Junk Valley, a large ditch in the Wastelands that was mostly filled in with piles of scrap metal and spare parts. He began to look around for anything useful to the Arcanists. After all that’s what he came here for. With a number of loud clicks, clangs, and scrape of metal legs on metal the steamborg executioner, Howard Langston, clambered up the hill followed by Percival Grey and his trusty metal sidekick Oliver. “‘Ey boss.” Howard called out in his rough voice “What’re we even lookin’ for here? Ramos just told me we’re here to pick up supplies. Anything in particular?” “‘Re you blind Hank? This place is practically a gold mine! If we control these hills we’ll have enough resources to last us years!” Percy piped up, “There’s gotta be something worthwhile in here. Maybe something for Oliver.” The subsequent whistle of excitement from Oliver made the whole crew chuckle. “There are also rumors of a gun in these piles of scrap. If I remember correctly it’s name is Edict. I’m going to get my hands on it if at all possible. This old thing has served me well, but I think it’s time for an upgrade.” Percy looked down at the custom side arm on his hip. “If that rumor is going around all of Malifaux we’d better be prepared for a fight to keep it,” Joss said with his back to the group. Suddenly a high pitched, ethereal laugh rang through the air. “Neverborn,” Joss said with disdain “We can take ‘em,” growled Howard. Out of the corner of his eye Howard saw a small girl in a dress holding a basket. “Candy… This can’t be good” “Let’s go boys! Percy, you take the high ground,” he pointed up a tall pile of scrap. Howard smiled and skittered off towards the little girl as Percy clambered up the junk pile. When he reached the top he could see the whole yard. A woman in a black hooded coat with a rifle was standing just behind a smaller pile. “Angeleyes.” Percy growled knowing she had to be killed. His own personal hatred for the Neverborn was enough to put rage in his heart. In addition she had to be here for Edict. “Oliver! Find the gun!” The little construct started scrambling around looking for the gun. Joss smiled and charged towards the little girl with his arc axe raised high. Howard stood directly in front of Candy towering high over her. With a grin he let loose with a flurry of claws. With his first strike he slices across Candy’s chest and she falls. Pulling a small stone out of her basket she squeezes it to her chest and her wounds begin to heal. She looks up at Howard with large, innocent eyes and suddenly his metal heart softens and he stops. Candy’s look of pain and sadness turned into a grin of malice as she held up a hand to Howard and suddenly he found himself unable to control his own claws. “What? What’s goin’ on?” with a slash and a scrape howard embedded his own claw into his chest. He watched in horror as his other claw swiped at his neck but by sheer force of will he was able to hold it just inches away from it’s target. Seeing two ghostly green forms phase into view through the piles, Joss shot a blast of arcing energy towards the first Sorrow striking it in the chest. Angeleyes knew she had to find an optimal position to take out the steamborg monstrosity attacking Candy. As she climbed to she felt a searing pain in her shoulder as a bullet pierces her flesh. Black blood begins to pour from the wound as she looks to the origin of the shot. A young man crouched behind a stack of rubble was pointing a pistol in her direction. She lifted her rifle and loosed a shot back in his direction but it fell short and ricocheted off a metal plate in front of him. Percy smiled. His experimental razor shot had worked. He could see the blood running down her arm. He shot again but the bullet whizzed past her head. “Alright, Poppet. Playtime’s over.” Howard slashed at Candy and cut her down. Her small body fell to the ground unconscious but still breathing. When their leader fell the two sorrows were immediately on Howard, clawing at him with their ethereal talons barely making a dent in his armored legs. The gash in his side continues to bleed but his resilience is enough to keep him standing. With a resounding bang Angeleyes falls from a bullet to the thigh, the pain driving her into unconsciousness. Percy smiles thinking she’s dead. Suddenly with a green flash a sorrow is upon him clawing at his chest. He switched his gun to his left hand and drives a bullet through the spirit. It’s incorporeal form flickered and starts drifting away slowly. Not dead but badly wounded. Out of the corner of his eye Percy sees a horned figure with purple skin in regular clothes holding a shiny, glowing pistol. A bloodwretch that had been sneaking around the junkyard to find the very thing the neverborn were there for while the rest distracted the arcanist band. It began to run north through the Wasteland being chased by Langston, Joss, and Percy. Oliver trailed far behind as he was much slower than the rest. Eventually the trail of the bloodwretch went cold. “We should head back and collect the scraps we came here for,” Joss said begrudgingly. The party trudged off back to junk valley. Upon returning they found the bodies of Angeleyes and Candy had disappeared. “Where’d they go?,” Howard grunted after looking around the yard “They’re gone, Hank,” Joss sat on the discarded carapace of a Peacekeeper. “Doesn’t matter. We came here for the scrap not for the gun.” “We just need better equipment. It should be fairly easy to find. After all this junkyard is our turf. With our mechanical knowledge we can easily make something out of the materials here,” Percy said fiddling with the hammer on his pistol. “Yeah. You ‘n’ Doc Ramos can figure out how to use this crap,” Howard said pulling an old machete out of the pile to his right. “‘Ey I kinda like this” he chuckled The team gathered the best of the materials they could find. Percy and Joss began to tinker as Howard and Oliver began building a shelter. “We could stay here a while to make sure nobody takes anything else,” Howard suggested. “Like a kind of hideout.” “Not a bad idea Howard,” said Percy as he placed an arachnid resembling one belonging to Viktor Ramos. It gave a little whistle that resembled a bark. “Hey! It works!” a bit of the body fell off leaving a spot on it’s side. “I’ll call it… Spot,” Percy chuckles. The steam arachnid walked in a few tight circles before plopping down and rolling onto it’s back. “He’s like our own junkyard dog” Joss chuckled. Percy spoke up, “Well, one man’s trash…”

First off with the Performer from Colette`s band. Her face is the best I`ve painted so far - and it`s surprising that it actually has eyelids sculpted in!

    Bishop Usage

    Hey everyone, I got the alt Bishop model a while back, so I played a few games with him and was moderately impressed with him. (Bishop +imbued energies is ALOT of attacks.) After those few trial games I set him aside for my more regular go to models. As I was looking over my cards trying to be inspired for some new crew ideas I saw his card and thought "you know I should try him again....but how? and with whom?" So if anyone knows of some good reasons to run him or crews for him to be in me know. They can be funny or weird lists I'm not going to a tournament just some fun times with friends. PS I have Ramos, Rasputina, Colette, Ironsides, Mei Fang, Sandeep, Ulix and Zipp and a smattering of other models to round out those crews a bit. Thanks for the ideas/advice

    Which master for this crew?

    I'm relatively new to the game and I've joined a shifting loyalties campaign. Time to buy a master but I've got a mixed crew of arcanists: Joss, Kudra, Mech Rider, Arcane Emmisary, 1 Oxfordian Mage, 2 December Acolytes to choose from. The masters I can choose from are Rasputina, Sandeep, or Ramos. One problem is that for this game week I can only afford the master and not any upgrades (you even have to pay scrip for 0 upgrades). I'll have to face Asami and a ten thunders crew in one game and Nicodem with some rezzers in another. Reconnoiter, Distract, Vendetta, Assasinate, Bodyguard. At the moment I'm thinking Rasputina and the Wendigo to paralyse and eat things. The acolytes can be her ice mirrors and she can give out frozen heart and armour +2 if needed. If anyone can see a better course then feel free to illuminate me.
