Oops, apologies I obviously did not write a story this time :sad. Work and all.

I'm going to sit here and watch what all of you do/post periodically! How is that game by the way? I've been intrigued by it off and on but it's so dang expensive. Almost $100 for 6 figs? No thanks.

Australia it's 31th May from 12 hours already(M2Ebeta countdown)

I highly suspect we won't be getting the rules until late, LATE Eastern Time which is UTC -5. -
There's a fair amount of us that play on Vassal in North America. Tharen used to have a league going, we could probably try and start it up again.

Buying useless books [or: lacking a better title]
Ryu replied to Gabbi's topic in Malifaux Discussion
I gobbled the old books up. Figure it'd be nice to have some 1.5 materials to look back on the "good old days" once M2E hits - and for the fluff as I'm still not sure what's going to happen there. As for discounts, I wouldn't hold my breath. My personal opinion is that the commercially available copies will probably continue to go up in price in the short-term. -
Yay M2E! Prentends Malifaux Child has become MALIFAUX MAN the baddest Malifauxian super hero/master around

Any friendly model. Not just 10t! Shoot, I made an error! I just consulted the book (answered while I was at work) and it turns out it's target friendly 10T model, my bad.

That is going to require some serious Madness protection on your part. I've had two opponents try this on me and I make a B-line for the Madness every time. Also, Self Loathing isn't particularly effective against him since he ignores his own weak damage and reduces his moderate to two. If you can guarantee a severe then that might be worth it (unless you've tricked him or allowed him to cast Charge Up! first and he's at 3/5/6). As a mainly Freikorps player I have to say there's nothing more annoying than Tarpitting my SAS, especially with a bunch of puny models ("chump blocked")! He doesn't have a particularly effective method of getting himself out of melee other than killing whatever has engaged him. His gun is magical but his fists aren't so small fast moving spirits are great for tying him up - this has been a problem against Night Terrors and Kirai's crew. In doing this though remember the goal isn't to kill the SAS but rather to tie him up. My SAS has died in exactly 1 game since the start of the year, and that's because I put Frame for Murder on him. So the above posts are correct, don't try and flat out kill him unless you have a high damage model with the RJ in hand to cheat. If he's in a non-freikorps crew or if you can somehow kill the Libby then he's a lot easier to take down; but taking down libby is usually harder than taking down SAS unless you can make her a mannequin.

Outcasts: The Old Fashioned Way: Play a list without using any spells. 10 points Right Between the Eyes: OHKO an enemy non-totem model at full health with Hans or a Freikorps Trapper. 5 points The Neverending Story: Playing as Leveticus die every single turn of a game. 5 points Nuclear Stench: Deal 10+ damage in a single "Pull My Finger" or "Swamp Gas" action. 5 points Arcanists: All in the Family: Playing as Marcus hire only in-faction. 10 points

I'm hoping for more realistic clothing too. Not more gears though (except for maybe Ramos and Hoffman), that's a bit hackneyed.

I want to see him wear a helmet. Is that too much to ask? A HELMET! I'd like to see him keep his versatility and durability - but not be virtually unkillable like he currently is.

The Best Laid Plans...What will M2E mess up for you?
Ryu replied to Iron Heel's topic in Malifaux Discussion
Unless Killjoy is dramatically changed he's always been a Merc. So you could, assuming no dramatic changes, just hire him as a Merc with new Collodi - depending on his hiring restrictions. -
I'm in too preferably for Misaki or Von Schill if they're going to be in the beta. Otherwise any non-rezer non-neverborn. On second thought here's the rank of who I'd like to be: 1) Misaki 2) Lucas McCabe (assuming they're included) 3) Von Schill

Wong. Any type of counterspell is going to destroy her, though Wong has animosity Ten Thunders, so he's not going to help you out anytime soon. If I ever think my opponent is bringing a casty crew Wong is my answer - even if I guess wrong Wong still brings enough utility to the table to make up for it usually.

I'm so glad that a Gundam Avatar Hoffman is getting released!

I'll be in again, maybe I can actually devote more than 1 hour to writing my story this time

We can argue over the semantic usage of corner case, but I don't think it should be retired. You may view the use of corner case in reference to a particular skill or ability in a vacuum as tenuous, but it doesn't change the fact that it's still in the semantic realm of defensibility; though technically you are right in your prescriptivist definition of corner case as it generally deals with the complex interactions of multiple components. As for your first sentence - practically every model in Malifaux has a true corner case or two anyway. That's what gives it character in my eyes

Corner case is not a hipster term, perhaps new to Malifaux but it's been in use for decades. You can't vote to remove terms from language (unless your France, of course they don't really succeed in removing popular terms such as week-end anyway, they just try to). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corner_case

If you could find a way to make it immune to influence...

Yeah, it's interesting to see how people do their internal calculations. I simply card count my enemy's severe cards + jokers and try and keep a simple running analysis of what they have in their hand by how and when they cheat. I weigh killing a model higher than not-killing it and so I'm more apt to spend more resources to make something die than I am to not do so. This approach is a great baseline though, and I don't think that he's saying to follow the formula explicitly, he says straight up that a lot of times gut feelings are factored in and the weight of cards is variable depending on card draw and other factors.
