  1. Love it! Now I wish I had been a little more open to odd color choices when I painted mine. next one maybe...
  2. Could I ask where you are finding all the images for these? Are they free or did you purchase them somewhere?
  3. For the beginning of a campaign all it takes is one or two heavy hitters and you will find yourself in trouble. The small size of the game and no masters mean it can be heavily influenced by one big nasty guy (Ashes and Dust, a Rider, Izamu, etc.). Depends on your meta of course, but something to keep in mind. Otherwise all those puppies are going to die fast and often.
  4. I think the other official story contest was also going on at the same time. Might have caused a drop off. Will there be another one coming soon?
  5. Was this ever completed and voted on? I haven't written anything in a while, but I enjoy the entries and the ideas they can give me
  6. Vent... I hate Outcasts and all they can bring. Freaking Ashes and Dust, Nothing Beast, Taelor, Killjoy.... OK. So how do you all handle Outcasts big hitters? Specifically Ashes and Dust? He can't be charged, can get almost anywhere on the table, due to 3 general AP, hits like a train and you can't even put conditions on him. That with a ml 7, decent defense and doesn't actually die when you kill it. As with a lot of Outcasts imo he is a bit overpowered, even at 13SS (imo any models over 10SS are very hard to balance in this game and tend to be the worst NPE). What do we have that can take him on? Rogue Necro and Izamu might, but not if he gets the charge on them first. You can't really lure him out of position or try and ignore him due to his 3 AP and great threat range. I've just not been able to find a way to not have this one model completely screw me. If I try to avoid him (can't) or just run my schemes he ends up wiping up my crew. When you throw in models like the Nothing Beast (another 3APs for attacking plus a built in Bury trigger), Taelor with the Relic Hammer (really, Relic Hammer? More like "Everyone and their brother, except Resurrs, Hammer") or gods forbid Killjoy, I feel like I don't even have a chance and the game becomes no fun anymore. I don't mind losing, do it most of the time, but I like to think I at least had a chance. Against these models I don't even feel like I have a slim chance. I tried last game to stay hopeful and to focus on getting VP's , but was more or less tabled by turn 3-4 with only a couple of VP. I just dread seeing Outcasts and it makes me less interested in playing the game. Any good model combos to try and neuter Ashes and Dust? I've got most Resurr models to play with, just can't seem to find the right combo.
  7. Very nice. I've avoided MDF for just this reason, though I still have a few small pieces sitting in my bitz box. I'm piss poor on photoshop, but maybe I'll try something like this myself. Thanks for the idea!
  8. Except you can push through Severe terrain. You can't push and climb though. So all those walls and fences become non-existent for pushes and can open the table quite a bit in some crews (teddy and Baby kade come to mind) from personal experience). Just one thing to think about. We personally allow it, as I couldn't find anything specifically denying the charge to go over a climbable object, whereas a Push spells it out specifically.
  9. If you have a paypal account we can do it that way, but if you don't have one already, I'm guessing you don't need/want one. I will keep looking. Once I get to Portland again I'm hoping the game store there may have one still.
  10. I'm looking for the old metal Mortimer the Gravedigger, not the plastic one. Willing to pay a fair amount. Thank you!
  11. It makes for a negative play experience and can make the game as a whole seem unbalanced. If that is your first interaction with the game you may decide its not for you, when in reality it is only a small part of the game. This means fewer players and the wrong interpretation of Malifaux in general. Just because you don't care, doesn't mean it doesn't affect others and potentially the growth of the community. It's not impossible to play against, but it certainly is not a fun game for most. For someone who might be lucky to get a game or two a month, this kind of experience can ruin a player's (new or old) desire to keep playing or buying Malifaux.
  12. It's pretty well established that if an ability says something like "may push up to.." the player does not have to do so. It's a choice the player can take if desired. I'm not sure why this use of the word 'may' would suddenly become a 'must' just because of another ability. And I hate Colette and her crew.
  13. I still see a payment button here: http://www.breachingthefaux.com/rules However, i would like to go ahead an sign up. Why not - gives me more reason to paint more stuff so I have options. I'll email you!
  14. Did you scratch build the cacti? Just out of pink stuff? It all looks great! I need to make some more.
  15. Not a bad report, though you really need more terrain. A lot more terrain. Interested to see more as they come!
  16. So I got my first set and am very, very happy. Can't wait to order more. I got the set with 3 buildings, 1 market stall, 4 fruit stands, 2 baskets and 4 crates. The buildings have removable roofs and doors that open. I also picked up the fountain and some more crates. The building footprints are on the smaller side, but I prefer that as I think several smaller buildings looks better and is more playable than one or two large buildings. It helps create more alleys and corners for more interesting games. Next I will pick up the 3 pack of buildings, the market stall set, and a couple of bases I think. Pictures with models for scale are too big to load here so here's a link: http://1drv.ms/1NxONf8
  17. Ugh. That board is awful. That is a Warmachine or 40K board, not Malifaux.
  18. They are not auto-takes at all. especailly the Belles in my opinion. They are both very strong models in their own way. I just don't always get great use out of belles as I don't always want to pull stuff towards me (the Doxy's are better in this regard). The Nurses though are very powerful pieces able shut down models quite effectively. Almost to the point of being an NPE (I am not a fan of any Paralyze effects which is similar to what the Nurses can do). However, it can difficult not to take them as cheap as they are. You do not need either to be competitive though.
  19. Killjoy... for all the reasons. Particularly with Nix and rats. Really I don't care for the 11+SS models in general. They seem to be hard to balance and can more often lead to an NPE.
  20. Just a quick mention of another Kickstarter. His first one was for single deck card caddies and he has a store for them and is actively producing them. They are cheap and very handy imo. This one is for Double Deckers, which aren't really as interesting to me as the storage and scoring add-ons. I'm hoping he get to the stretch goals. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/narrowshill/the-card-caddy-2x-and-3x-deckers-w-snap-on-accesso
  21. Yeah, the scale may be a little small, but I think it will work. And while somewhat pricey, you can get 3 pre-painted and assembled buildings (with working doors and removable roofs) for about $50. Where else can you get that? The bigger buildings get a bit pricier, but the 3 pack of the southwestern or brick buildings is very reasonable. I'm going to order some (the market stall set I think in the southwestern looking stuff) and will post pics with minis for scale.
  22. Hi all, Just found this new pre-painted stuff from a company I've bought from before. I haven't seen these as they look new, but they look like they could be useful for Malifaux and reasonably priced for pre-painted stuff. Looks good quality too - the other stuff I've bought from them has been. I'm going to buy a set of the Series 1, maybe series 2 just to see how they look. Thought others might be interested. http://www.crescent-root.com/pages/Product/28mm/28mm.html
  23. Very nice! I agree with nep though - make the numbers more clear even when backed by an image and make the suit easy to read. Wish I had skills at drawing cause I really want to make a deck.
