  1. I was all set to say that "Choose a Marker within 6" and LoS of the target" wouldn't violate anything, except you're not even allowed to target a strategy marker. I'm aware of the fact that the targeting rules make it clear that there's a difference between "target" and "choose": So I would be wary of trying to "choose" one either. So by the logic and quotes you give here, Gluttony is free to "choose" the strategy marker, but then cannot remove it at that part of his ability. The target model pushes into base contact, doesn't remove the marker (because it cannot be affected) and thus takes no damage.
  2. So between Collodi puppetmastering directly, and Zoraida obeying the three changelings to use Collodi's puppetmaster again, and the changelings using it AGAIN under their own power... you're looking at 9 uses of puppetmaster per turn for 31 stones worth of dude.... What do you put on the receiving end of that power? I assume Hinimatsu or maybe a coryphee (because flips are a thing?)
  3. Regarding your original question, I think this part of the buried rule saves you. If Killjoy takes lethal damage while buried, since he can't be buried again his demise ability is ignored. from buried section: Buried models cannot be Buried. If a Buried model would be Buried by a game effect, it ignores that game effect
  4. There's a lot of grumping going on about multiple masters in general right now. It's entirely possible the problem is NOT that they're DMH, but that they're just another Master caliber model on the table. Coming up with a houserule specific to DMH like this might not solve the problem, just disguise it.
  5. According to the rules reference sheet staggered is +x but the rulebook doesn't list that. Does it actually stack? My guess is no and the reference card is old.
  6. A different weird trick I like them for is putting Killer Instinct on them to make them run faster/go cheaper. It gives them 4 extra inches of pushes per turn for a total of 6 (2 to push toward the corpse they put down, 4 at the end of the turn), and also lets them turn unneeded corpses back into Soulstones (helps pay down your now 8ss scheme runner if you don't need the corpse it's making).
  7. Look through the rules at how "replace" works. The current health carries over by default. So your 4 health Lucky Effigy (full) becomes a 4 health Lucky Emissary, who then heals 2.
  8. The rules for Aura stacking are different. From page 30. So if multiple Auras would do the same thing to a model (like both of your examples), then only one triggers. Though looking at Life Leech specifically, I'm unsure how many heal. The activating model is only taking 1 damage, but multiple Sorrows might heal? I don't know...
  9. Oh good. The only other place it talks about doing that is under "damage flips". We're fine then, I think.
  10. I get the logic, but I feel like this exposes a hole in the rules. Specifically, what happens if you flip a Joker? We know what you do when a joker is flipped in a "damage flip" but since the disengage apparently isn't a damage flip, we suddenly don't know how to deal with flipping the Red Joker.
  11. I'd argue that "interrupting" a push is actually a defined term, when the pushing model encounters impassable terrain (Pg 15). So the only way for the emissary to be interupted by destructible terrain (and therefore remove it via that part of steamroller) is for that terrain to be impassable. Since we're not talking about a destructible, hazardous, impassable terrain marker "interrupting" never happens and the push continues "through" the hazardous terrain, so the emissary feels the effect of it, then removes the marker at the end of the push (via Steamroller's final clause) Edit: it would remove the marker THEN take damage/whatever from it. Forgot the timing of the hazardous terrain effect. Removing the marker doesn't mean it didn't go through it.
  12. Reading comprehension ftw. I totally missed that "it". Thanks.
  13. Because I've still got Beta rules on the brain, I have to ask a follow up. If the changeling is only partially in the terrain shadow, but all the sight lines pass through the terrain, the changeling still out of LOS? Or only just in cover.
  14. They push themselves, not the model that triggered their Misery auras. Is that not the case? I thought it pretty cleanly aligned with the Bushwhackers aura example from Pg. 30 of PDF.
  15. To be clear then, "Once per activation" is outlined on page 33 of the PDF. It specifies that it means Once during *an* Activation, not *it's* Activation. So Pandora can use it during every activation of her own side and every activation of the enemy side, but only ONE time during each of those activations. All your searches for "game state" should have landed you in the section on Auras (Pg 30) which talks about how multiple copies of an aura interact. It's admittedly not the question you're asking (sorry) but it's a common question to get into with Pandora since her theme crew ALL has Misery, so the odds of multiple Misery auras cropping up from a single triggering event is high.
  16. "once per activation" is exactly what it sounds like, once during any given model's activation, Pandy can trip her Misery ability. Keep in mind that a single enemy model cannot be effected by multiple auras at the same time (they can't all "change its gamestate" is how the rules put it). So someone getting stunned in the middle of 3 models with Misery cannot suddenly take 3 damage. They *can* take one damage, and two of the other models could push though. Those pushes aren't effecting the now-stunned model. It absolutely does have a limit since Candy (for example) could give out fast AND stunned in the same turn. Pandora only gets to push/damage one time during that activation.
  17. I'd looked at that and missed the key bits to get to "as many teams as possible touch the marker". Is that due to the timing of their placing?
  18. That fits. We just got our first Cult player and figuring out all the weird nonsense he can pull with portals is making our collective brains hurt because we keep finding some new way to work them, and those ways start to feel a bit too clever at times. We'll adapt.
  19. Hopefully simple, but wanted clarification. When a model places into base contact with a marker (portal marker in this case), is there some guidance on how that model has to be placed? Or if I was placing a squad for example, could fireteam 1 be placed entirely over the marker, so that fireteams 2 and 3 would be placed in base contact with 1 (instead of having to touch the marker).
  20. Not sure the point of confusion, so I'll just lay out all the logic on it. Guy on building is Sz 6 for determining LoS (because models and terrain positioned on top of buildings add the building ht to their Sz/Ht) Guy on ground is *not* in the terrain shadow extending from the building (because he's not within 3". Shadows extend to max 3", diagram is wrong here) Because Guy on building is "taller" then the building (Sz 6 vs Ht 4), the building is ignored for purposes of determining line of sight. Guy on Ground doesn't have any way of overriding that and making the building count again. Generally speaking, people standing on tall buildings are going to have LoS over pretty much anything with a Ht/Sz. If you don't want to get shot, either hide in terrain shadows (so get close to the thing you're hiding behind) or behind dense/blocking terrain that *doesn't* have a Ht stat. The part about adding Ht is sort of one of the fundamental assumptions to how the LoS system deals with vertical terrain. Without it, the LoS system gets a BUNCH of weird bugs, or you have to rebuild the rules from the ground up (sorry) to work with however you approach "ht 2 model is on a ht 3 box".
  21. Correct. That particular part of the LoS logic was how we got the suggestion about buildings not being wider then 6". This system gets strange if you apply it to a 10" or 20" wide building.
  22. LoS questions. It MUST be a new edition Ok, so let's establish some ground rules and reference so we don't run into trouble. 1) Model on the right is effectively Sz 6 for determining LoS (pg. 18) 2) This means it "ignores" the building itself for determining LoS (pg.17) and can therefore see stuff at ground level assuming Shadows don't get involved. With the trivial pieces handled, let's get into how the Shadow makes this more complicated (But nowhere near as complicated as 2e) 1) Shadows extend *out* from terrain. Your terrain piece here is a building, so the black area in your diagram is the shadow (Pg 18). You goofed a bit in that the Shadow is a Max of 3" though. 2) Because Left model is not in the Shadow at all, currently he's wide open and both models can see each other. (Pg 17 again, point 2 above) 3) as soon as Left Model moves even partially into the Shadow of the building, suddenly the building no longer gets ignored for LoS purposes. This means that suddenly Left Model is out of LOS. (Pg 18). That continues as Left Model moves closer to the wall. 4). Right Model has an answer though. Because it's standing ON the terrain that's casting the shadow (and thus blocking LoS), if it gets within 1" of the edge of the building, suddenly the building (and it's shadow) get ignored and Left Model is exposed again. (Pg. 18).

    Family gathering

Family Gathering is a keyword on the Drunk and Stupid upgrade. It's how a lot of the summoning type upgrades work. It would leave the door open for doing a different version of them later on.
  24. I was interested. Weird that the Soul Porter is on all the Ascendant upgrades though. New Chiaki lost her flute and mask and she's PISSED about it.
  25. "Once Per" effects are all per model. So each model in the crew can only concentrate once per each activation. You could not, for example, have Abuela take the family values trigger off her Sharp Wit, then follow that up with "Listen Up, Young'un!" to force that other model to concentrate again. She *could* have some other model concentrate though, no problem.
