  1. OK, someone had replied to this post saying they were starting TT in the area, but I think it got lost in the Forum's woes recently. I didn't note the forum name. If you are in the area and looking for games please post or PM me here and I will be glad to work out a game sometime. Good time to start with Nythera going.
  2. Is that a Fat Mat or Mats by Mars? Please post pics of the prepainted stuff. I am interested, but the price makes me wary.
  3. Eeek, those boards look kinda bare. I would want more scatter terrain. Those seem to favor shooting forces heavily. Nice write up though and always good to see pics. Thanks!
  4. I don't have the card handy - does Night Falls Stack? That could get nasty quick. If they were not insignificant, I think they would be auto-includes. As they are they are still useful, but not overpowered for 3 stones.
  5. Mortimor's Fresh Meat can be very helpful to get the rest of the crew moving. He is expensive though. Added bonus of being able to fling poison +3 around as well. Never a bad thing for McMourning.
  6. I don't mind the paralyze from Horror as much as from other sources. I could still see a failed Horror test costing the model its activation, but I would not have any problem if Paralyze went the way of the dodo (and I say this knowing how good the Crooked Man's trigger is).
  7. I honestly don't care for Paralyzed at all and would be glad to have it removed completely. I know not a lot of models use it and Raspy would have to be reworked, but basically not getting to use your models for a turn (or several) leads to a less than fun gaming experience. Slow I don't mind as you generally still can do something. I haven't played as much as others so some of the above combos are new to me. I do agree that Shenlong and Yu tend to break things a bit. I've never been a fan of Leveticus (rules, not fluff). He was big part of the reason I turned away from 1st edition. Companioning yourself is a bit... silly. Shouldn't' happen too often though. While Molly's scheme shenanigans seem odd, they are somewhat resource heavy just to get a scheme marker. Colette and company can do far worse scheme marker craziness. I understand people's issues with summoning as well, but I feel the current edition does a pretty good job of balancing this. I am a bit biased as a Nicodem player though I could see limiting it more or making it only once per turn kind of thing. I don't look forward to ever playing against the Mech Rider or Ashes and Dust...
  8. I was thinking the very same thing! The table in the battle report needed much more scatter terrain - crates, boxes, carts, bushes, fences, etc.. That would have helped greatly with those wide open alleys and firing lanes. I liked the battle report though overall. Would like to see more with more pictures or diagrams though.
  9. Not a problem as I already had an account from buying the electronic rule book. Also, did not in any way read Aaron's post as sarcastic. thanks - reading through it now. This is a lot of content for free!
  10. If you go with LadyJ just don't get frustrated if she keeps dying. A lot of players will throw her far out front on the first turn and while she is quite killy, can be taken out by a combined attack. Keep her back just a bit with her crew and she'll stay alive longer. That said, she has a nasty threat range and can be used like a missile to kill stuff, just don't shoot it off too soon
  11. That board is pretty awesome. Would love to try playing Malifaux on that.
  12. Wow. I haven't played against Gremlins yet, but this has always been my fear. They just seem sooo powerful on paper. I love them too, but have avoided collecting them just yet. On topic: I always fear Neverborn, but that may be that I haven't faced them enough. I also worry about facing Gremlins, but again this is more fear of the unknown than real life experience. Outcasts don't really worry me overall, but if they are announced I always worry about Ashes and Dust and how to handle it.
  13. I have. They have a moderate Warmachine/Hordes player base and I think some played Malifaux long, long ago. I have put up flyers before there, but never got any hits. I've thought about doing a demo of some kind. Maybe I'll take a better look after I get the starter kit. Though honestly I don't love all those models and I pick my painting time carefully. I've got plenty of Resser models painted now though and will be working on some Arcanists and TT soon. I'm not sure how much interest I'll get there - it always feels very pro-PP/GW and somewhat hostile to other games. Just my impression though... Evolution has a large number of tables and some good terrain with a good amount of space, so would be a great place to play. They have pretty much stopped carrying any Malifaux in store sadly. Honestly, they could be a fantastic store, but need to shut down for a couple of days and do a complete clean/reorganization.
  14. Sadly no. I drive up to Portland every now and again to play. There were a couple of players in Salem, which is closer. Still cant' find players here or in Eugene (I live in Junction City). You would think there would be some players at OSU. If you ever want a game let me know. I keep meaning to go to the Tabletop Gaming Club on Thursday nights (they only play boardgames, but maybe I can convert some).
  15. I took off his flags - they broke while I was trying to put him together, so I knew they'd never survive real life. I don't miss them.
  16. Some reputable online merchants may also still have the old metals in stock if you prefer not to use eBay. Or even a LFGS. I know we still have metals in the stores in Portland.
  17. I have all three of the metals ones painted (and I don't like painting), but I will be picking these plastics up and replacing my metals. These are awesome. I am a little worried about the crouching guy, but maybe he is better than I think. I still cringe every time I have to pick up my Izamu - I just know one the arrow heads is going to snap off some day....
  18. I recently went to OFCC here in Vancouver WA and while there were people there playing AoS, the general response and feeling was that it was big joke.
  19. This has been in the FAQ for quite some time. At least one LOS has to pass through the terrain to gain a benefit (#30 in the FAQ). The FAQ does not cover the specific question of B to A and if A needs to be within 1" of the part of cover that passes through the LOS or just 1" of the cover in general. For now I think I'd go for 'yes, A gets cover' based on the current FAQ and rules. From the FAQ (if you look it up there is also a picture): 30) Q: In the following example, does Lilith have cover from Rasputina, as Lilith’s base is partially located within soft cover? A: No. None of the LoS lines between the models pass through terrain which grants soft cover.
  20. Good advice above. I would probably highly point out this little tidbit though. People look at Lady J and think "killy!" and rush her forward as fast as she can go to try kill, kill, kill! However this tends to just put her in severe danger with no support. You may catch a new player or player unfamiliar with LJ out the first game, but once they realize it is very easy to counter. She might kill one model, but will then find herself in serious trouble if not dead. If the LJ player thinks of their whole crew as 'LJ", and then she is killed turn 2 they can often just fold and give up. LJ takes a good deal of thought to use well and to keep alive. I would also echo moving up to 50SS. Anything lower can be problematic for balance.
  21. Some nice short stories this round. One of these days I will try my hand again...
  22. I concur. They are pretty awesome. Curious to see what other sizes and extras he has planned. This is much easier to fit in my box and I will be using this for my Scheme deck as well.
  23. Just want to point out that spending a Stone does not give a to the Damage Flip. A stone only give a the the Attack flip (p18 SRM). You would need some way to give him Fast before his turn so he can Focus before trying to Lobotomize. He is still a monster of a model and I look forward to using him.
  24. OK, time for my yearly post here. I live in Junction City (between Corvallis and Eugene). While there is a great community in Portland it is difficult to get up there on a regular basis to play. Are there any players in the Corvallis or Eugene area that have started playing or want to start playing again? Love to find a group to play with on a regular basis. Thanks!
