Mako
This is the new updated first post, where I'll be posting up group shots of my crews, and links to any tutorials and things I've done. Enjoy! Been a painter for many moons, and Kirai was too tempting not to get. I've used an ivory, green and purple colour sheme and kept everything muted except the white faces. Kirai's streaked makeup took a bit of fiddling to get it even (she had one raised eyebrow at first!) but I'm pretty pleased with the results. I've also been sculpting some extra heads for my seishin to avoid having any duplicates. No doubt I'll get distracted by other models fairly quickly, I'm terrible for doing that, but with any luck I'll be able to finish the crew first! osoi
They look fantastic, I really like the muted scheme, it works really really well. Where did you get the other heads for the Seishin or are they scratch sculpts? If so very well done.
Mako
Cheers, the head's a scratch sculpt out of fimo, joined to the body with green stuff as I didn't fancy putting the metal body in the oven, just in case! Hence the random colour changes. Quick job really, knocked it together in about 45 min one night when I was too lazy to find paints and brushes. CannonFodder
Best Kirai I've seen to date. I like the subtle colours. And If that's 45 min of sculpting I'd love to see what you consider taking your time.

Mako
Cheers guys, things have gone a bit slow while work goes mental (just about to start a 36 hour shift in a room with no aircon :-fate) but I've nearly finished the onryo, only masks and fans to do. More green and purple but again I've muted out the colours a bit to stop it being too garish. I find that sculpting goes either really quickly if i'm in the mood for it, or really slowly and badly if i'm having to force myself to do it. But I am thinking of doing my own shikome at some point, so there might be a slow piece of work on here soon...
Freakshow
Awesome job mate. Very nice indeed!
Mako
Here's the Onryo, they've got more colour on but in real life they're still fairly muted, I've kept to adding grey to everything to avoid it getting too vivid. The freehand turned out to be more of a pain than I thought, shading such a complex pattern took most of an afternoon! Mydnight
They all look gorgeous! How do you get such a smooth transition from highlight on down through your colors? I can't seem to make that work.
