  1. Proceate is similar to Greenstuff, in that they are both epoxy putties. Procreate does have somewhat different properties, however. Procreate is much less sticky than Greenstuff, and when dry has a surface that feels more like plastic and less like hard rubber (depending on how you mix your Greenstuff and what additives you may use). You could certainly use Procreate to make a water/ice effect (depending on how you want to paint the finished sculpt), but it sounds to me like you might prefer one of the scenic products that mimic water and/or ice instead.
  2. The RMS (Reaper Master Series) Golden Skin triad makes a reasonable Asian flesh tone. You can see it on the Reaper "not-Charlie Chan" figure I did here: ---------- Post added at 09:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:09 AM ---------- The RMS (Reaper Master Series) Golden Skin triad makes a reasonable Asian flesh tone. You can see it on the Reaper "not-Charlie Chan" figure I did here: Here you can see it in contrast with the Foundry standard Flesh triad (5A/5B/5C) on the other detectives: As you can see, it makes a reasonable difference without becoming an offensive cartoony yellow.
  3. Supposedly excess humidity is the biggest cause of "frosting", so you may wish to wait for dry clear conditions.
  4. The "dusty" effect that you describe is a problem that some sealers/varnishes can generate (often called "frosting"). One common solution to to apply another coat of the varnish. You might also want to browse some of the dedicated painting forums for other remedies. ---------- Post added at 03:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:01 PM ---------- Here are some links: http://www.lead-adventure.de/index.php?topic=33539.0 http://www.lead-adventure.de/index.php?topic=12775.0
  5. Thanks for posting these, I've been wanting to see some examples with paint on them. Did you find that you needed to do extra work to disguise the dovetail joins at each corner?
  6. Very nice! Can we see some additional closeups?
  7. Those look to be Fenris 30mm Resin City Streets bases: http://www.ebay.com/itm/30mm-round-DS-city-streets-resin-bases-/380177608980?pt=UK_Toys_Wargames_RL&hash=item588459f114#ht_500wt_1308
  8. Absolutely brilliant! Can we see a picture of Ikiryo against a brighter background? I'm losing a lot of the detail in the darkness of the photograph, I think.
  9. I believe that the professional term for colors that "shift" is transference colors. Some hobby paint manufacturers make them, and/or should should be able to find some at your local art supply store.
  10. Perdita's hat comes separately, so rather than cutting her head off and tilting it up, you might be better off simply changing the angle of the hat so that it is worn more towards the back of her head. That would reveal more of her face. Of course, you would need to do a bit of resculpting to her hair/forehead, but it would probably be easier than removing and repositioning the whole head.
  11. If you actually wanted an attractive Madame Sybelle (runs counter to the background IMHO, but to each their own...), you might want to look at the Freebooter line of figures. The Queen of Shadows figure would make an excellent Sybelle: http://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/miniatures/freebooter-miniatures/freebooter-queen-of-shadows.html There are also some other similar figures scattered throughout the Freebooter's Fate line of figures.
  12. I posted some WIP photos in this older thread here: http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=11992&page=2
  13. I agree, the freehand is excellent on those (as is the rest of the painting). Beautiful!
  14. Beautiful painting and an excellent muted palette on those. Love the Seishin sculpt too. Top marks!
  15. A very effective conversion, I think. Nicely done!
  16. Very effective basing and nice solid painting. Well done!
  17. Brilliant! Best Leveticus crew I have seen by far...
  18. Awesome! The beautiful freehand was well-worth sacrificing the runes.
  19. Beautiful designs, an unworkable scale and absurd prices.
  20. Thanks for the heads up on these- Cute! (The game sounds interesting too).
  21. I agree! A parasol/fan equipment sprue would go a long way toward making conversions easier...
  22. Fenris Games 30mm Round DS Rough Timber Board Resin Bases: http://cgi.ebay.com/30mm-round-DS-rough-timber-board-resin-bases-/150395970915?pt=UK_Toys_Wargames_RL&hash=item23044c6563#ht_500wt_1156 They also have a large selection of other sizes and textures that I have used for my other various Malifaux crews. Reasonable pricing, fast shipping and excellent customer service.
  23. I'm doing my Kirai Crew on rough splintery wooden boards (as though they are the inhabitants of a haunted house, or of an abandoned Japanese home from which the tatami mats have been removed): It's difficult to get a sense of the floor texture from the unpainted photographs, but this will be enhanced once they're painted (wood grain, etc.).
