  1. Ahh, that looks like something I can put up with. 😁 Thanks!
  2. Eh, that kind of feels like exactly what I don't want -- huge detailed game art, trying to look dark/cool, faction-specific graphics, etc. Especially the top one with the giant "13" and everything spelled out instead of just using the recognizable suit icons that the game already has. I'm looking for something with a cleaner deck-of-cards feel. In used to have the retro fate deck and it was perfect, really, so I'm just wondering if Wyrd has done anything remotely close to it more recently. (And again, apologies if I mess up attaching an image below!)
  3. I'm just getting back into Malifaux after a long time away, and need to get a new fate deck... But there are so many more fate decks now! I'm wondering if any of them are like the old Classic and Retro fate decks, looking more like a regular deck of cards or at least without character/game-related art on them -- I've just never been fond of the "here's some assorted masters" look. I can find previews for a few of the decks online, but not all -- the Other Side Malifaux/Earth decks in particular I can't find example images for. Of course, I know what I really want is the Classic or Retro fate deck, but they seem to be impossible to find now. I imagine they're long discontinued, but if anyone knows where to still find one, I'd appreciate that as well. (And if there are plans for similar decks in the future, please please do that Wyrd, they were amazing.) Also, apologies if this is in the wrong place... Like I said, it's been a while. 😅 I'll happily remove/relocate it if necessary.
  4. I don't mean to come off that snarky, I just think practicality is a silly argument to make when you're dealing with Malifaux, and especially the Showgirls of all crews. Were there really so many people pining for their stage magician character model to look absolutely nothing like a stage magician? Other models are representative of what their characters are and what they do. Colette's was, and now it is not. They took everything that made Colette visually different and interesting, the main draw for many of her players, and tossed it out the window. That's the problem here.
  5. Because I know when I'm looking to run a crew of literal showgirls led by a flamboyant lady magician and her giant-clockwork-sword-wielding assistant, along with their mechanical dressing dummies (some of whom have big scissor hands), the first thing I ask myself is "But are they practical?" (And don't even get me started on the Viks and their Hired Wardrobe Malfunctions.)
  6. Huh, Googling Victorian-era executioners doesn't reveal anybody with giant metal bear claws either. Go figure. Why should they even be trying for realism? This is Malifaux. We've never really needed it before.
  7. These are the only pictures I can find, but I'm not so sure about that.... This is Cassandra's new art-- she looks about exactly the same (but actually with a plainer bodice) : And I'm pretty sure this is a Performer.. (Correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't seen it named anywhere) : So yeah, I think they just turned the Flamboy-O-Meter way down for everybody, because apparently that's how things are going to be from now on. The glamorous magician/actress/showgirl crew can't be glamorous or frilly anymore because we want to seem dark and "realistic" instead~
  8. Nope nope nope. A thousand times nope. I've already said this, but here goes again: Where's the master magician? Where's the trickster? Where's the fabulous stage presence and flirtatious facade? You had such a unique design going-- where else could anyone find a Victorian-burlesque magician crew in a skirmish game?-- and you kinda just threw that all out in favor of making her (and the rest of the Showgirls that I've seen) look like any other female model in the lineup. She looks like a minor support piece for some M&SU crew (Goggles...?), or one of the generic Through the Breach build-your-own-characters-- not one of the best and most popular masters in the game. I'm really curious who approved it, and why. What was the thought process on making her look absolutely nothing like what her character is? You can't even say this is her smuggling outfit, because it's been established that she dresses down and wears pants to smuggle stuff through the tunnels (like a normal, practical person would-- another reason I liked her). This has no personality. This is bland. And Colette du Bois is many things, but she ain't bland. But I have to say I was expecting this. The art so far has seemed to discard the interesting design choices of v1 in favor of saying "Make it darker. No, darker! We're dark now! MORE GRIT!" I thought it was nice that the art would become more cohesive, but so far it's just.. made everybody look the same. Colette is now Gothic Steampunk Woman #16. And that's a shame, because she could be (and was) so much more. I'm late on replying to this, but yes! Another thing I liked about Colette was that, for once, here's a female character who actually has a reason to be slightly cheesecake (as opposed to wanted criminals or supposed tough-as-nails fighters, etc, just running around with their bosoms askew even though it makes no sense at all for them to do that). And even with that excuse, she still came out less cheesecakey than you'd expect! I loved that. She should be flamboyant and flashy, because that's her thing. That's how you get people's guards down so they don't notice you running circles around their objective markers.
  9. I have risen from the posting grave to cry out in anguish at the new Colette. NOOOOOOOO Seriously, what happened? That is neither a master magician, nor a fabulous stage star, NOR an accomplished Arcanist smuggler. I think I got that top from Hot Topic when I was 15. Not that I was expecting much for Colette after seeing the v2 art take a turn toward such pervasive drabness and "See how DARK we are now??", but come on now. What are the goggles even for?
  10. That would be pretty neat, actually! I'd completely forgotten about the Riders -- even if they don't get unmounted versions, their redesigns should be cool to see.
  11. The thing with this is, for some people it really is important. The plastic models and the existing metal models are nothing alike-- the plastics are smaller, better proportioned, lighter, etc. When you put a plastic next to a metal, (especially a giant figure like Lady J), they look differently-scaled. Hell, even some of the metal minis don't scale up next to each other, in the same crew-- Francisco and Santiago come to mind. If you decided to just 'grab yourself the current metal ones', your models would forever be larger and bulkier than any of the forthcoming releases. Lots of people have favorite crews. Say you have a favorite crew. You love this crew, it's your best playstyle, you play one or two others but keep coming back to this one. But the models have always been a little lackluster in their sculpts. They're usable, and you might even like them by themselves, but they could be better. But now Wyrd says all the crews are getting re-done in plastic! They'll be more cohesive, they'll all be on the same scale! You know there'll be change, but that's okay, the first few redesigns look awesome. And then your crew comes out! ...And they look terrible. And then someone on the board says "Oh come on, if you don't like them you don't have to buy them! Play another crew, it's not like it's life and death." What would your response be? "Okay. I guess I shouldn't have hoped to have my chosen crew in plastic anyway. I'll keep my opinion to myself." You're right it's not the end of the world, it's just disappointing when you DID want to buy the minis, and now you just wish you still did. Also, I'm pretty sure with Wyrd's plastic method, the art gets turned into the render that gets turned into the model, at least most of the time. So yeah, it's entirely possible these are the sculpts.
  12. Or you can just poke them with the pointy bit on the end. Really, the Peacebringer is a gun of options.
  13. I'm not even going to touch the exploitation and stripper-heels and cheesecake talk, because that seems like a fast track to losing this thread to the void, but I just think Lady J now looks even less like a badass government agent/undead-fighter than she did before. Also, I didn't even realize that was her hair until someone pointed it out-- I thought she had some weird scarf on. Even setting aside all the gender-based quibbling that Justice seems to inspire, it's just bad. I'm sorry.
  14. Could be-- the picture is small to begin with, so I can't tell either-- but I was hoping she'd put on an actual shirt or some kind of tough-looking coat or... something. Yeah, and one of the current Death Marshals does that to me too-- the one with both of his legs folded up had me mistaking his coattails for wide-legged pants for about a year. It almost feels like some kind of tradition now.
  15. Welp, I guess the new Justice art puts my 'Practical Victorian Swordswoman' hopes out the window. But the three Death Marshals have some interesting poses going on. Better than the old ones, even! Not sure about the flaming skull heads (I thought they were just sunken and haunted-looking guys..?), but I don't play them so okay, I guess changing things up isn't so bad. Please don't do anything drastic to the Showgirls please please please
