What Outcast models work in Neverborn?

Buying Malifaux is quite addictive and December was pretty much dry for Neverborn :D I really want to get something before the year is over and as I have bought almost every NB M2E model and don't want to start another faction,  I have turned my gaze to the Outcasts. I already have Bishop and Killjoy and I am quite happy how they perform on the table. Probably I am getting the Freikorps Specialist from a friend because he seems handy against those pesky ressers. I REALLY want to get Johan and Taelor but it seems they won't be showing up anytime soon. Right now I am looking at the Strongarm Suit and Lazarus, but as much as I love their models I am not sure that I will get anything from them on the battlefield. I have played mostly Lilith and now I am focusing on learning Lynch, but later I will try to master Pandora and Zoraida.

So, what outcasts do you play in NB? Do the suit and the robot make sense in that faction? Thanks in advance and happy holidays!

Trapper's are useful for everybody.  Convict Gunslingers are also very good though the 1SS Merc tax might make them less favourable.

One thing to note - Taelor almost certainly won't be showing up on her own at all.  She's already part of the Viks box so you are likely to need to buy that if you want her.

A ronin.

Ignores armour - something we don't do well.

Seppuku - for 2 soulstones or 2 cards. This has synergy with our masters in different ways. Lynch can benefit from cards here to boost final debt. Anyone with wings of darkness can benefit from the extra soulstones too.

Disguised - makes her a great model to be moved up with tangle shadows by Lilith - and free defensive stances cements this

Next target - bring able to strike and push away makes her a good scheme runner, as well as good at dealing with other runners.

My most used Mercs for my crews are:

Killjoy - Because KILLJOY!

McTavish - Works well with most any master (as he can be very independent), provides ranged attacks that don't randomize and ignore soft cover, makes an excellent Mimic target for a Doppelganger (Having 5 shots of his gun, with  :tome  trigger, over two activations a turn is just brutal), has a good melee attack  with a 3" threat range and a potential 1-shot trigger, can eat corpse, scheme, or scrap markers, has a mobile soft cover area for a 0 action, and he works well with swamp fiends for added synergy.

Ronin - For all the reasons Joel mentioned above

Performer - wonderful scheme remover, good lurer with wonderful triggers of paralyze and expunge essentially (love using her with Zoraida and Lure + Paralyze trigger the voodoo doll and it's hem target, works better than a nurse to me for the simple fact that I never have to make the tough decision of potentially healing an enemy)

Jimbo, the most likely upgrades, for me anyway, to put on Strongarm would be either Fears Given Form (any enemy activating inside the model's engagement range takes a Df test or else suffers 3 damage) or Retribution's Eye (this model ignores Armor, sacrifice the upgrade to ignore Armor and Defense triggers until end of turn). With Strongarm's 2" engagement range and its ability to charge so easily, it would make either very handy.

Mimic's Blessing might not be bad either if you are worried about shooting on approach or want to hinder swarming against him *as he can charge out of combat near the end of a round it means the following turn they cannot just recharge him so easily*

Fears given form also forces tests from friendly models. It's in the FAQ/errata I believe

Hell, it's still an auto-include for me...Huggy, Pandora, Candy, others. I use the hell out of that upgrade. I just am careful with my deployment placement and my activation order if a friendly is close to a Fears Give Form model (I'll activate the model first and move them away if needed/able unless it would potentially screw something up, then I'll just plan on cheating the defense dual if I have to).

To be fair that does seem a popular opinion and I fully intend to go back to trying it out, but both neverborn and Lynch are brand new to me (new faction for a new year and all that!!) and so I am just in the stages of learning what my models do. Having to be extra careful about activation order etc. is just a headache for me right now.

Anyway I didn't mean to derail the thread. Back on topic I fully echo what Joel said regarding Ronin. Armour appears to be the bane of my life since moving away from my beloved Outcasts!!

Fears given form is for henchmen and masters only - not enforcers like the strongarm suit I'm afraid. Eye of retribution is fun on him, but he can ignore damage reduction anyway on a trigger, so he doesn't always need the upgrade.

Can't believe nobody has really discussed Johan / Johana! Condition removal isn't really something that is common within Neverborn and it's incredibly useful not to mention he has a Relic Hammer and HtK with 8 Wounds AND Flurry. Johan works well with anybody and even at 7ss with the merc tax he's worth it! I can also see Sue being useful with his variety of support buffs and he's pretty kick ass with his guns to boot! Not sure I'd pay 9ss for him though. Hans on the other hand... Yeah... I'd totally take him for 9ss  :D Killjoy with Lilith seems like a no brainer!
