  1. I believe Nellie is good as long as you can create a vocal point to harras with but I do not feel you need more as her and two Henchmen to do that. By large because not using Reporters with her feels like a missed option to me then. Obviously preforances can differ
  2. Retry with Perdita, McCabe or Hoffman. Lady J can be added to that mix also. BE is there for anti swarm purposes most of the time but making it Family, 'McCabe 2.0', Construct or Death Marshal certainly adds another layer of use. Sonnia for me has enough anti swarm options, Witchling Thrall will be awesome. Nellie wants numbers. Dont own McMourning or Lucius.
  3. I agree with the above message. However I do think that it will work out. Another thing that would please me is when you look at the back of the card it would remain benificial to know how many Wd are left, perhaps even make an alteration to the card for this.
  4. @Aaron Is Syndicate the TOS version for Merc? And does this confirm the above are also eventual playable factions?
  5. Real. Yin Yan, Buddhist Deamon mask combined. Not only are we getting a whole page, the Crossroad Seven from Malifaux are also connected with them, or at least a man and woman from the Court of Two. True but the Dragons can thake many shapes. Shenlong the Tyrant Dragon currently does not have a Dragon shape either. It's a cool Dragon Tattoo, certainly but one of more than one specific shape
  6. I think you can go a lot of ways but the Guild part of the two-player starter box also seems like a useful addition to Guild McMourning, even if only for the thematic aspect but visually that does look very cool and this obviously matters in starting games. The synergy itself isn't massive but you do end up with a very aggressive and hard hitting crew.
  7. Like Arcanists you make up with it with high stats and high numbers of cards. I'm fairly certain with that you can really make up for it. Really good question. What I believe is that they have breaches but also wouldn't be suprised if Earthside (but largely Africa) has Soulstones aswell. The way I see a real world parralel is having oil and diamonds, both of which can be found in Africa also. But if we'd suddenly have a portal to a world where we could struck 'infinite oil' you'd be certain we'd be all in that place also. It's the stuff like this that allows for technological progression in our real world, where soulstones allow for magical progression in Wyrd's Earth and Malifaux. Obviously we shouldn't look for too many parralels but I think the thake on Soulstones is very intresting especially because it's also used to influence the world, like oil, diamonds and gold .
  8. Agreed and in Malifaux terms I'd call that the Arcanist vibe, I'm almost certain that at some point the smaller grunts might come in also (little machines) but so far they are the superior stat guys, with superior cards in hand and a ton of glory/hard hitting options. Quality over quantity and all that. The funny part is that King's Empire actually feels like Guild (ranged) so far.
  9. If I could be of any demo-ing advice I'd replicate the art we see of the Gibbering Hordes fighting with the King's Empire. Usually a clear picture of chaos vs order, alien vs human sets a very clear picture of what's actually going on. Abyssinia versus Burning Man should work out reasonably well in that regard aswell, largely because you've got the chaos vs order, mutant vs armour thing going on. Abyssinia vs King's Empire or Burning Man vs Gibbering Hordes would strike me as a 'monster game' if I was unaware of the lore and I do not think The Other Side is really a 'monster game' or 'soldier game'.
  10. I can't agree, it only possible requires a more creative thinking process. Like hiding seems in model/miniature design you can simply do the same in diorama design if you really want to. My plans as such are a lot of rubble stacked upon each other, which easily lends itself to be cut in three parts so this way you can also easily remove pieces from the Fireteam. The only reason for me to continue with plugs on fireteams is that it allows me to mix up the diorama aswell. As soon as I have the product I'll try to share something without an issue. Here an example of something I've done in the past and I guess I should just open up a topic for my crew stuff aswell... (30mm base) So as always, the only creative limitation your working with is a limitation you put there yourself.
  11. Well how I see it is that the KS is both an advantage to us, as the customer and as the compagny. First you use the largest medium known online to make sure your project is seen, secondly it's a tool to see if there even is enough interest for such a game. I believe that the intention goes both ways, if you want to have a massive project, you simply said need to be certain there is a big enough market for it. Especially army games are always costlier as skirmish games and the result of this is that this step is a massive step for Wyrd games. Producing a single boardgame or even skirmish game is peanuts compaired to producing a whole army game. By large because your producing more models (quantity) so sell products for a higher price. High prices mean a significant smaller market and in return that small market is competing with just a handful of bigger names but the costs required to mass produce this game is very much higher as in Malifaux or other board/skirmish games for that matter. So far, the way Wyrd has been communicating to us, their community, I believe the intention of the compagny is to make really cool unique and flavourful games and miniatures. When I look at GW I only see great miniatures, when I look at PP I only see a great game. Doing both means you need your crew to work on full cilinders and seen by Aaron's imput a lot of his private time is also invested into the compagny. Going next level really also means you need to do more as just produce really cool miniatures or just produce a cool game.
  12. Sure, but not to the point where you deliberatly make a newer faction better. To the point where it becomes a well known meme. GW knows their most selling product (Marines) and has done everything to sell more of that product. Including tossing a whole fantasy game and include marines into that aswell What I see is that many players start learning about miniature games by GW products (they have the most shops after all) and usually leave as soon as they become aware there are better (balanced) games on the market.
  13. Not concerned! If the game is as good as I hope it to be it's a logical consequence of playing a really good game. What I'm still most excited about is how the 'Schemes' work out in this game. It's very important to me because for me that's the main selling point of Malifaux and general Wyrd games. I obviously love combat but having a logical reason for combat is the next level stuff Wyrd has been presenting us so far.
  14. I don't think the quantity of factions is the problem. Games Workshop works with a system for years and that's akin to the same system we see on phones. Everything that's the newest is also slightly better. Their cycle seems to have repeated this process since the early 2000s. The prime reason as to why I believe GW does this is because despite it's name it's much more sales driffen. Sales Workshop would be a more logical compagny name switch. I even worked half a year for GW, the compagny isn't about games, it's about sales. Remember the day you first set a foot into a GW. Did they tell you about the game or what they where selling ?
  15. I think we can really go both ways. I don't really know where the faction bloat worries come from though. I feel 8 is usually the perfect number for factions and adding a 9th that covers Mercs/Syndicate models is working out very well for different systems. Honestly I know a lot of systems and faction bloat never really was a concern in any of them... Good design isn't limited by faction bloat, instead you can create your own diverse paths even more because there are so many mediums to work with in a game like Malifaux and The Other Side. Examples of this are not only models such as Titans, Fire Teams 30mm, 40mm or 50mm but also cards, objectives, tactics changers, trigger builders, you name it. The only limitation in design is the stretch of imagination of a design team. What I see now is: - King's Empire, ranged and tactical advantaged, very much like Malifaux' Guild - Cult of the Everburning Man, glass cannon and speed advantaged, very much like Malifaux' Neverborn - Abyssina, low numbers and high stat advantaged, very much like Malifaux' Arcanists - Gibbering Hordes, high returning numbers and essentially more Wd as 'usual', very much like Malifaux' Ressurectionists. Now obviously the themes are different and the factions are designed much less in terms of their triggers matching their faction's identity or symbol but the styles are very comparable. Logically I'd say the Syndicate are the first of the Merc choices to appear, some of which will also find home in actual factions. If I had to make a wild guess of what's next I'd hope for the following: Guild appearnce, akin to Gremlins, favouring higher numbers and 1-2's to deal with things, Three Kingdoms, very infantry support, like Ten Thunders, Syndicate, our Outcast variant and Necromancers, a 'new style' which simply creates more zombies by killing opponents with reinforcement tokens.
  16. Obviously the more Mad Max this gets the better!
  17. We'll have to wait and see I wouldn't be suprised if indeed some models where part of the Syndicate and also part of a faction. Several games have several 'solos' who are both Merc and part of a faction, even non-Outcast Malifaux characters.
  18. Yeah we'll have to wait and see. But if Guild doesn't end up as a Earthside faction I'll punch a horse.
  19. A lot of units remind me of Neverborn. They are a lot of glass canons basically but hit absurdly hard in melee. As mentioned by retnab their shtick seems card and fireteam manipulation, like Neverborn they also have acces to cheap stuff that clogs you up. I wouldnt be suprised to see a Cult summoner soon either.
  20. Which is something I like more. As mentioned I hope they are more or less the Henchmen/Enforcer of the game. Two on average per army is cool enough for me
  21. @RMK honest question, what stops you from creating the diorama with plug bases? From the getgo this was my own plan. The beauty of 30 mm stuff is that you can find pipes that diameter which might assist you in your creative journey.
  22. Yeah whatever found its way to her can still expect a sword to the head if she wasnt killed in one go. Papa Loco and Death Marshal remain great friends for her but thats pretty much how Guild damage boosting goes
