  1. @Diddick If I could give you a hundred likes I would.
  2. Emissary looks great. Always felt the mini was a touch too busy between the coffin, the cage and the dude in it.
  3. These two pieces are more practical, and I think look a lot better. They've a good playable area and mix of natural surfaces. Not quite sure what the best way to paint stalagmites. Seems like with a zenithal light they'd have no shadow or highlight and I'm not sure directional lighting works for terrain. Think I'll break them up with some moss or something on future. You don't actually see that in nature, but I figure these caverns have been opened up by mining, so stuff from the surface can get down in there.
  4. First piece. Was originally going to have an overhang and water-feature but the warped base ruined so I went for something simpler. Was considering using some of greenstuffworld's spider serum on parts like the arch, but it's very fragile and probably not suited to terrain. Main thing I learned from this piece is that large expanses of rock are surprisingly hard to make paint interestingly, so I should have used some other material to break it up.
  5. Some of this stuff has actually gotten painted! Had to switch the bases for mdf as the cardboard ones warped badly. The foam seems to continue expanding for a long time which also caused to the initial coats of paint to crack. Was an easy enough fix, but I think if I'm ever using expanding foam again ill go heavier on the wall filler, cut the pieces into smaller chunks and glue them straight to rigid bases.
  6. Finished up some more terrain. Not that interesting, but it's been a slow month. Witch hunters for scale purposes only. That and investigating any connection between Arcanists and some mine accidents that are about to happen. I'd say they're both focus pieces, so 20SS @Caedrus. I've one more that might get finished this month, although it's functionality is a bit more... questionable. 😉
  7. Looking great so far. The inner glow on the dust-fellows is really nice and the brass looks super-good in all the complex areas like the fingers and toes of the Talos. On the upper areas you might want to up the depth of shadow moving forward. There's less opportunity for volumetric shading on say the chest, but it'd totally reflect some dark objects in the environment with how flat and polished it is. You could also try work in some other colours to break up all the brass. Could use either weathering or reflections, or just go with a strong contrast on the tabard colour. Pop out the highlight on that left knee too while you're at it. 😉 Stellar work as usual Caedrus, really looking forward to seeing how they turn out.
  8. @Nikodemus - if you wanted you could add some pink and blue to the gun by way of reflections. Right beside his kabuto seems like a place for pink reflections, and you could fudge more in by imagining some environmental cherry blossoms or something. For blue some glazes down the centre of the cylinder would read as the sky while tying in to your scheme. Not that any of these are really needed. Mini looks great as it is.
  9. Cool! You can make blood spatter with red paint, varnish and a toothbrush. Just pretend you're 4 again and try it out on some paper first.
  10. Cool idea. Think the sarcophagus looks the best in terms of scale, but it's a cool effect in general, especially on the tower.
  11. Painted up some terrain this month. No particular reason for it. Just had it lying around and decided to cross it off the to do list. We'll call it a scatter piece for 5SS. It's a lot larger than what I'd usually call scatter, but functionally it's just providing some elevation and cover. Have a lot more of this kind of terrain. Some of it might end up too gobliny, but I'll post any Malifaux appropriate ones i get around to.
  12. Whew, cutting it a little bit fine here. This is the last of my Resurrectionists. Tried to make them look more like the glow was coming from in side them as they're ghosts. Don't think it really worked but you live, you learn, you die, you come back, you forget, you take vengeance on the living for their perceived wrongs, or something. That'll be 19 SS for Jack Daw + Restless spirit @Caedrus.
  13. Top notch stuff. The extra texture and patterning you painted on really brings the models to life and Somer's sloshing jug is amazing.
  14. Awesome, really polished finish. It's going to look amazing when it's finished.
  15. I used it once and had to throw out my airbrush after. It was only a cheap one that was probably on it's way out but I don't espcially feel like chancing it through a good one now. Also, only way I could get anything to spray at all was whacking the air on full and pulling back the needle to blast little puffs out. Not sure if Viruk had similar pains using it, but his results are certainly cool looking.
  16. As well you should be! Also, real shame Relic Knights imploded the way it did. Thought it was a really promising system.
  17. Really like it, left arm looks a little askew though. Looking forward to seeing the finished model.
  18. Finished up these three for the Reanimator crew. Well, besides a badly needed dull coat on Mortimer. 😛 Do that's 8 + 8 + 2 = 18 ss @Caedrus
  19. The April Challenge My best three pieces of advice are: Set your own expectations based on time, purpose and your own abilities. Challenge yourself to try something new with every mini or project. There is no 'right' way to paint anything. This is art, not engineering.
  20. But, if you're in Australia and you hang them upside down after washing, should we wash them upside down and then hang them right way around?
  21. Looking good. Do the added stick help with warping?
