  1. Could the "something different" nathan mentions be that this year is a Mr. model?
  2. From Nathan's Post Just Because... 6/15/16 This years Miss miniature I got a particular tickle over just because it's different. Some may like it, some may hate it, others might just give a big ol' meh. It does involve a penny-farthing though, that much I'll hint at. So knowing, or i guess assuming, it is an arcanist. Speculation on what it could be? With a penny farthing involved the only idea I could come up with is something mounted or riding, which boils down to basically Mech Rider (or Envy I guess). Any other thoughts?
  3. Howard - Solid, mobile beatstick. Seems that he fits into alot of crews regardless of master. Rail Golem - Very swingy model with locomotion, but if it works can really swing the game. Plus I like the concept of bashing things with an I-Beam Willie - Yes... Just Yes. Maybe I'm biased because i've twice gotten jokers on his dying explosions which covered some serious ground Mech Rider - Solid model, ranged dropping of scheme markers makes certain schemes super easy. Johan - Kinda cheating here too, not an arcanist model, but has some nice synergy with M&SU, plus potential condition removal, topped off with a Relic Hammer for good measure. Always a strong contender if I can fit him in my lists.
  4. I think just based on a single render it is rather harsh to say this model was done poorly or lazily. Especially since it was hinted there may be more to the model than what we see, and also because we know nothing of the fluff/design behind the model. Plus, despite what has suddenly become the consensus, there are some of us that like this model (specifically the hooks on the sleeves seem cool to me). Everyone has a right to not like the model, but I think it is important to acknowledge that also has to do with personal preferences, and not simply that wyrd did a "lazy job". And, as solkan mentioned, it's more important we focus on getting this tie and get two previews next week...
  5. While this sounds potentially awesome (I don't have the cards in front of me to see specifically how it would work), doesn't Brass Arachnid have to be in a Ramos crew?
  6. I think any and all of the Frozen heart models would look sweet in translucent blue. I have the Raspy set and love it, but adding Snowstorm, Blessed, Silent ones and the like all in the same style would be awesome. That being said, no idea if they are planning on doing it. I'd buy if they did.
  7. Could you do like a Rasputina counter alpha-strike. Roll with Raspy, Snow Storm, and a december acolyte, have snowstorm advance raspy, december acolyte deployed with from the shadows to set up your mirror point, and then just drop some damage onto whoever (rats, nix, wretch) using raspys main attack to destroy the core of his crew.
  8. I think into the steam has all sorts of rules about creating different gamin types via different immuto, so it wouldn't surprise me if the future design space has room to bring some of those over from TtB.
  9. Unless i'm mistaken, you can't use tactical actions targeting yourself, so the brass arachnid can't reactivate itself.. You can however make this happen with Lazarus and Assimilate.
  10. Maybe i'm confused... But to me it sounds like first you have a problem with one guy who has threatened to rape 200 women in your area.... And you've also been roofied while gaming... These are terrible things, but I'm finding it hard to make the connection between that and the appearance of females in malifaux. To me it sounds like there is an asshat in your gaming community, that needs to be dealt with (probably by the police). While i'm not a legal expert, if you have 200 people all corroborating that this man has threatened to rape you, i'd bet there is something the police can do... The connection is what confuses me... Did this guy start these behaviors specifically after he started playing malifaux? Even if this guys plays malifaux, I don't understand how wyrd is responsible for it, and how their models support it... I'd guess most people in the malifaux community think this guy is an asshat. It sounds like he is a terrible person, that happened to buy malifaux products, and would still be a terrible person regardless of if he was playing malifaux, warmachine, monopoly, or chutes and ladders. I don't get how having wyrd products condones this behavior, it doesn't make sense... Again, maybe i'm just dumb and not drawing the connections here, but to me it seems like a stretch.
  11. Off the top of my head, I know that my dabbler has Sorcery 5 and intellect +3, so casting at an 8... Has skill focus so he has an inbuilt . He has also taken the critical strike on his sorcery, and a general talent to give him a , so he is casting at an 8 with a , so with the alter damage immuto, his damage track is effectively 4/5/6 with a chance at 5/6/7. He also has toughness 4 i believe so something like 8 wounds. His df and wp are pretty low, like 3/4, but because he has such a high attack he keeps his high cards for cheating on defense. I also have a melee focused fated who has 8 wounds armor +1, ml 7 and a critical strike on an enlarged, folded steel bludgeon, which puts him at a 4/5/8 damage track. Thanks again for the advice everyone... i've done some of these things, and have some more ideas for the next session.
  12. Thanks all, I've used some of these suggestions... and while I find that i've used TtB as more of a storytelling/skills challenge, my problem is my Fated are just cocky, and their solution to everything is "we'll just kill them and anyone who gets mad at us for killing them".... For example, we ran the first steps of Defense of Innocence. Rather than looking for dade, they decided to go confront the mayor about his campaign, and if they found him were going to try and kill him to guarantee he didn't win the election. Needless to say I didn't allow them to find him, but that is an example of the "arrogance" for lack of a better word, that my fated have. They know that nobody in town is strong enough to kill them, so they figure they might as well run the town... My current solution is going to be to throw a few "NPC Fated" at them, knock them down a peg, and see if they still think they are all that...
  13. Hi all, I'm currently the fatemaster for a campaign, and we're about 9 sessions in. I don't know if people have had the same feelings, but I feel that the fated are ridiculously powerful. For example, one of my fated has spent all his points on sorcery and toughness, making him hard to kill, and ridiculously powerful. He isn't the main talker of the group, so never needs to use his social aspects that much. Because of it, though, with the combination of talents/skills he has, literally the only way his attacks don't hit is on the black joker, and with altered damage immuto or the ice immuto, he is either killing something each AP, or paralyzing something each AP. His casting starts at like an 8, and he has a + to the attack flip because of skill focus. Aside from having say a master or henchman come in and obliterate the group, has anyone else had ways to perhaps challenge their groups?
  14. I play Arcanists, and my usual opponent (moxypoo) loves leveticus, so I have had a few games against him. First and foremost, Ramos has always been my favorite master, so locking him down with lots of spiders can be somewhat effective. I've found I'm more than willing to sacrifice an arachnid swarm that I summoned, so long as it uses up all of his AP. Plus you use up scrap preventing him from getting lots of abominations. As Hatefule Darkblack said, Leveticus can blow through about any defensive tricks, so I generally don't rely on any high defense models, I instead go more aggressive, meaning I almost always take imbued energies on something, rather than imbued protection anywhere. Simply put, Levy is going to kill things... give him targets he cant resist, and whenever you can, any AP you can get him to waste is a bonus. Also, unless I can kill him, I don't attack him. I go after waifs or other targets instead. As for general models/crews.... I've had success with Ramos (Howard/imbued energies/reactivate from brass), Rasputina (Silent ones for waif hunters as well), and Ironsides (mages as waif hunters, hope ironsides can survive levy). I've never played colette or kaeris against him, and for some reason I suck with Mei, so I always get stomped when I play as her against levy.
  15. I would definitely be interested in helping out. Have a large group that plays every now an then, but could easily have a smaller group that would play more frequently to test things.
  16. I'll just chip in here because I regularly play against Leveticus. (moxypoo likes him) I feel that Levy (levi? leve?) is annoying if you're not used to it, but I think he falls into the category of "overpowered" only playing him the first couple times. He is definitely a solid master, and his versatility with his hiring pool makes him playable with almost any strat/scheme combo, but in playing against him he is by no means an auto-win. I don't have specific battle-reports, so I know this may not mean as much, but anecdotally I would say we're probably pretty even, I can think of a game where it was my first time ever playing Lillith and I beat him (Nekima is nasty btw) and I'm a consistent Ramos player, and can think of a few times we've gone either way (yay reactivating Rail Golem!). It is all about knowing what he does, and how to beat it, e.g. waif hunting, killing him before he activates, re-positioning anchors so he can't respawn. I've played him enough that I know how to screw with his plans, and also how to earn VP getting around him. Now, this is being said about a small local group. We have 4 people who have played regularly since the M2E beta, a couple others who have tried, and we haven't ever been to Gencon or anything like that. We may not be the best players, and maybe aren't using him to his full potential. But, I'd wager our Levy player is the best of our group, and has quite a bit of gaming experience. So from my 2 cents, I'd say Levy doesn't need a fix. Que moxy coming in here soon saying that if anything needs to be "fixed" it is the rail golem...
  17. I do this the same way Brewmaster mentions... Each session I have them progress a step on a pursuit track. We have a large group (7 players), so I try and do 2 Destiny steps per session, though it doesn't always work that way. My goal is to have the characters be able to finish an advanced pursuit fully, as well as their starting pursuit fully, so ~20 sessions.
  18. @ moxy: I definitely think bringing in turn 2 would be just as nasty, if not more-so because you'd have a turn to build up your hand, and the possibility of dropping another scrap allowing the golem to be at full health instead of at 8 wounds... You also could actually score points for reckoning turn 2, so it might be worth it to spend your first turn advancing and upgrading stuff, then do the rail golem missile turn 2.
  19. Hi all, So moxy and I played a game over vassal last night, him to test out Von Schill and myself to test out a Hoffman/Rail Golem combo I thought would be interesting. 35ss Strategy : Reckoning Schemes : LITS, Breakthrough, Make them Suffer, Protect Territory, Spring the Trap My list Hoffman Arcanist Assets Modification Upgrade O.S.A Rail Golem Guardian Metal Gamin Watcher Make them Suffer/Breakthrough Von Schill Upgrades (moxy will have to clarify. He just jack-knifed me the whole time so i don't really know) Librarian Lazarus Strongarm Suit Steam Trunk Make them Suffer/Protect territory Corner deployment. Turn 1, soulstone to draw 2 discard 2. I won initiative, and chose to go second, starting my ingenious plan. I have 2 tomes in my hand (rail golem) but only 1 card higher than a 7. Von Schill's crew had basically forward development, not a whole lot happened besides re-positioning. My Hoffman combo however... Watcher moves, not important for the combo Guardian does protection on the Rail golem (giving him defensive +2), then walks forward. (needs a 7 to cast, gets the flip) Metal gamin activates, attacks the Rail golem twice (Golem gets to flip 3 cards for defense, happens to flip rams both times, and gets burning 2 with no damage) Hoffman activates, uses OSA to gain fast at the cost of slow for the Gamin next turn, does the free power loop with the gamin (Ca 8, goes to a Ca 10 because he has 2 constructs next to him) (0) shakedown on rail golem, drops a scrap. (ca 10 tn 10, so is free) (1) update hardware, gives the rail golem nimble (1) power loop, spends a soulstone to get the trigger, power loops in the rail golem and the guardian (1) Machine puppet, soulstone to get rams trigger, golem takes 2 damage gains fast, and takes a walk (1) machine puppet, golem pushes 2" then gets to take a walk Golem is ML7, Df 6, defensive +2, Casting 8, and has burning 2 (3 when he activates), and is Fast and has nimble. Golem takes 4 walks (16") and when you add in the 2 walks hoffman took he has crossed the board (26" total movement) Last walk engages, and now the locomotion begins. I have 2 tomes in my hand, first one I cheat to get the momentum trigger, and attacks (cheat to hit @ a 5/6/8 damage, von schill's aura gives it hard to kill basically so it survives but i get the trigger to go back to burning 3). 2nd locomotion flips a tomes, so free momentum trigger, attacks again. steam trunk flips a severe for defense, golem at a + flips low, so no hit, but locomotion again (now down to burning 1). Cheat in the tomes, so i get one final momentum, but again the attack misses (severe for defense, 2 and 3 for my attack flip). Final locomotion (burning goes to 0) succeeds but no momentum trigger, attacks again and fails again (In 4 attacks each at a + i never flipped higher than a 6, and the only attack I hit I cheated the only card in my hand higher than a 7) So Turn 1, the rail golem moved a total of 26" and got 4 attacks (roughly the equivalent of ~10AP) Turn 2: Draw cards, soulstone for draw 2 discard 2, and have the black joker and 5 moderates in my hand...I flip an 11 for activation, moxy flips a 2. SS, and flips a 12, goes first with von schill. Von Schill charges, and takes 3 attacks with his jack knife. I still have df 6 Defensive +2 and 8 wounds, so I figure i've got a shot.... First df flip at a 2+, get a 13 on the flip. Moxy cheats a 13 to hit... dang. 2nd attack, df flip at a 2+ gets a 12, Moxy cheats a 12 to hit... dang... 3rd atttack, df flip at 2+ flips a 11, moxy cheats an 11 to hit, and flips all severes on the -dmg flip to finish off the golem... Dang After that point, I was kinda in trouble. Guardian/Gamin and hoffman stuck together, and were able to do a bit of damage, but by end of turn 4 only able to kill the steam trunk. Von schill and the gang grouped up, picked off the guardian then the gamin, and at that point we decided to call it, as I only had hoffman and the watcher left, and needed to score max on breakthrough (possible but depending on activation flip) and kill 2 of his crew with hoffman, and have the watcher survive an assault from von schill, and deny von schill and/or lazarus from putting down any markers for protect territory. So, while the Rail Golem missile didn't quite work, it was pretty awesome to charge him all the way across the board. If more than 1 of 4 attacks had hit, i would have scored max points for make them suffer, and if I had won activation turn 2 the golem could have gotten 3/4 more attacks in before anyone on their crew had a chance to respond... Pretty nuts. Thanks for reading -CougDyver
  20. Pg 47 of the M2E book... "It is possible for models to be killed while they are buried, albeit somewhat rarely. If a model that is buried is killed, it will not benefit from any abilities that happen on a model's death (like Finish the Job)." Makes me think that you can kill levi while buried to get full points, but that is my interpretation. Also, in reference to the general discussion of certain masters finding "loopholes" on certain schemes... I'm of the opinion just don't pick those schemes... If i'm against levi, i don't take assassinate (unless I am just playing for fun and want a challenge)... It would be like taking make them suffer and not hiring minions, or hiring ashes and dust when murder protege is an option... It's merely a poor strategy. if you want to do it, fine, but realize it is a bad idea. Just my 2 cents. On an aside, I would like to take personal credit for Moxypoo's hatred of the Rail Golem and Ramos... Mwahaha.
  21. Not a confirmation from Wyrd yet, but I have Fedex Delivery Manager and it emailed me saying a shipment is coming to my place from Wyrd that is in the system. So it may not be technically shipped yet, but they are probably printing labels and such, so I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing confirmations soon. Also, I'm order 19214, and i also have order 21042, and I've only received info on the 19214 order. And while they said they don't do things in numerical order, generally I would think the earlier orders go out faster, so long as all the components are present (e.g. zoraida cards delay those boxes)
  22. Out of curiosity, what all comes in the fatemaster's kit? If i remember right, it was a fatemaster screen and a pad of character sheets. Is there anything on the inside of the fatemaster screen like the D&D DM Screen (maybe like the damage tables, the card flip values for different rank monsters)?
  23. Wyrd price list and releases up! So question about gencon ordering... Do orders of some of their previously released stuff also count towards the $100 you need for Miss Ery? Specifically, if I'm just short of the 100, can I add in say a box of punk zombies or something already released to put me over the limit?
