  1. The Guild protects the average citizen from the depredations of the monsters beyond and below the walls of Malifaux, hunts down violent criminals, and provides a system of justice and order. Many of the Masters of the Guild are exemplars of this ideal. Lady Justice isn't evil. She believes the dead should stay dead and that it is her duty to protect the innocent from such violent ends. Perdita is thoughtful, kind, passionate, and challenged the Governor General himself over his bananas plan to create a magically fascist power over all of Malifaux. Sonnia uses her power and knowledge to protect the people from illicit magic, which can give anybody who strolled into the wrong abandoned building the ability to liquefy their neighbor. Hoffman does the same with dangerous machine intelligence. The Guild, as an edifice, may be thoroughly corrupt, and perpetuate the power of the powerful over the weak, but it does a lot of good, and employs a lot of heroes.
  2. I buy lack of defensive abilities, but mediocre stat line? 6/6 with 14 wounds...?
  3. Not confirmed, but it seems likely. Crew boxes are (sorta) how Malifaux gently instructs us on how to play a Master, and gives them a toolbox larger than their own card, and limits SKU creep.
  4. Teddy needs only to be within 8" and LoS of its target to make the Gobble You Up attack. If there is blocking terrain in the way, the push stops when it hits the terrain, as pushes do. Edit: Impassable. Not Blocking. Derp.
  5. Yeah. Stick to a painting regimen. Don't allow yourself to get a pile of unopened boxes. If you have such a pile, whenever you have an impulse to buy something, instead, deal with something out of your pile, assemble and paint it, or get rid of it (sell it, put it up as prize support, give it to a friend to get them into the game, whatever). Rinse repeat. Note: I do not follow this advice and do not care to. It is fully my intention to own every Malifaux model. My form of discipline has taken to being forcing myself to work through each faction, crew box by crew box until done with all Masters, then cleaning up the small boxes before moving on to another faction.
  6. Based on previous statements by Wyrd staff (once upon a time, Nathan had said that all of Wave 3 will be available by November of this year - the usual time frame for Gencon preorders), I think it's a decently safe wager that all of Wave 3 will be available at Gencon. I'm holding out some tiny hope that something from Wave 4 (other than the book) will be there, but that would be icing on a cake made of Emissaries and Changelings and Anna Lovelace...and then, maybe I can line my Christmas list with Wave 4 in the Black Friday sale...
  7. There are several sorts of demons/spirits/monsters in the various mythologies of the religions of India. Given the turban and gada, Sandeep seems to be Sikh, and they've got Pretas and various other multi-limbed horrors in there.
  8. A summoned model cannot take an Interact action, no matter how many AP it requires, (2), (1), (0), or otherwise, the turn it is summoned. The summoned model prohibition on Interact actions does not directly correspond to Scheme markers. For example, if it were possible to summon Merris, she could use her (0) action to place a Scheme marker that turn, because she is not interacting. Similarly, and more realistically, if Molly summons a Drowned and it immediately dies, because there are no enemies close enough, its Finish the Job ability allows it to place a Scheme marker in base contact before it is removed. This ability happens even though it was summoned this turn.
  9. ...though weirdly set in China.
  10. Wong is totally Egg Shen. I mean, his bag only has three demons, not six, but I bet it still has wind, fire, all that kind of thing in it. He gives a buddy a "potion" that lets him see things no one else can see, do things no one else can do. Probably give 'em a huge buzz, too.
  11. I don't believe so. Last I checked Scheme and Squat Markers are Ht 0 Open. Edit: Just double checked. From Pg. 56 of the little rule book - (Unless otherwise stated) Markers have no Ht, do not count as terrain, models can move over and stop on Markers, and Markers are ignored for movement purposes. Scheme Markers are not called out as being special in this regard. Neither are Squat or Claim Markers.
  12. Sure, but models can totally stand on markers...
  13. Leaving something cheap (Raptor, Arachnid, Toolkit) in the backfield can work. I do this in NB w/the Primordial Magic all the time. Of course, that continues to net me Rush of Magic every turn, and it's only 2ss, but 3-4ss to deny 3 VP is worth it.
  14. This only works if you can keep your opponent from eliminating all of your minions/peons. If they're all gone, it doesn't matter what killed them.
  15. Lenny can summon Piglets, specific model, not Pigs, model type. At the moment, Piglets (Som'er on Trigger, Lenny on Trigger, Ulix), Warpigs (Ulix), and Stuffed Piglets (Sammy and Taxidermists) are the only summonable pigs.
  16. Zoraida can hire Ototo and Papa Loco, can't she?
  17. I usually have Marcus cast his (0) that turns the target into a Beast to proc the Wp failure, once the other Beasts are in position, but Bishop seems a hilarious (if expensive) way to do it as well. It's possible to absolutely eviscerate entire crews with this trick, if used at the right time/positioning.
  18. Hunh, we've got three regular 10T players in our meta. When they want to out-activate, they bring McCabe with 4 Hounds and Luna, plus whatever else.

  20. Ran her w/Crystal Back, Hex Bag, On Wings of Darkness, 2 Gupps, 2 Waldgeists, Bad Juju w/Eternal Fiend, Hooded Rider w/Retributions Eye the other night vs Colette in Guard the Stash. Traded Juju for Joss early on, but that left my opponent very hesitant to kill anything at all, and even more hesitant to commit Colette, with the threat of Retribution's Eye on a model that was swinging for min 5. I like the idea of Iggy or a Nurse for Hem, but I don't like leaning on Hem at all (or Bewitch, which is why I often take Crystal Ball, as I like to feel like I have the option to activate Z late in the turn). She's pretty brutal, regardless of the list in things like Turf War/Extraction/Guard the Stash, with Repulsive and the ability to force models out of position/bring friendlies back into position with Obey. Waldgeists amp that control up pretty severely with 4" reach and Armor +2. The Rider also finds his way into a lot of lists with her, and he gets a lot of movement out of Obey, and his minimum damage, especially ignoring Armor, makes using Master AP to get the extra attack feel very worth it. Matures are nice to, if you trust your deck to give you some Tomes (Bewitch can help) for Charge Through.
  21. As promised, I'm hosting another One Round Tournament at Game Nite (8330 Watson Rd. St. Louis, MO 63119), Thursday May 19th, 6:30pm to 9pm. Winner is the player who won their game with the most VP, Differential if there's a VP tie, card flip if there's a Differential tie. The prize is a small mystery box. There is no fee. No painting requirement. All skill levels welcome. The event will use Gaining Grounds 2016 - Flank, Guard the Stash, Convict Labor, Show of Force, Leave Your Mark, Neutralize the leader, A Quick Murder. Hope to see you there!
  22. Sorry the slow reply, it's one round, victors compared by VP/Differential/Card Flip.
  23. Seems like that, given why she was imprisoned, she may either be the reason the Neverborn are so anti-necromancy, or, they have such old, hardcore rules against it, they imprisoned their own queen for conspiring with the Grave Spirit.
