  1. Mei's Totem removes conditions on constructs, so if you were gonna hire her already and have a construct list maybe its worth the extra 3 points. I think maybe one of Asami's summons removes conditions?
  2. I think this is mostly M2E hangover, because in M3E you dont "generate and spend AP." So at no point is your bonus action "spent" and unable to be affected by stunned.
  3. So if Fuhatsu triggers Quick Shot: take a gun action, even if this model is engaged, can he then discard and rapid fire off of this triggered shot even if he is still engaged or because he has to declare the shot, would it be invalid because hes engaged
  4. Wait, why cant you win inititive, place the marker, but make your opponent go first?
  5. Tell ur wife that Willie's shockwave has a Mask trigger to push friendly models. Because its an Immediately trigger, you dont have to succeed on the tn. You can drop an ace of masks if you need to. Also tell her that the Railworkers can charge-pnematic toss a relenting friendly to get your models out of engagement. I use that all the time
  6. You may be mixing two abilities. Mei's bonus action is Freight Train, which pushes a friendly model and if the push is interrupted the model that stopped it must pass a tn 14 mv duel or suffer damage equal to the pushed model's sz (4 for the golem). The Metal Golem has an action called Off The Rails "push this model 6" ignoring other models. Enemy models moved through must pass a MV duel (13 i think) or suffer 2 dmg and be placed in contact with the golem. Then, the golem gets to attack something it moved through"
  7. I think Wyrd needs to clarify what any means. 1. "Ever without any" = if PART of the base is unsupported it falls. 2. "Ever without any" = the model only falls if the ENTIRE base is unsupported My group plays it as "if the model can stay balanced on the terrain, then it does it doesnt fall"
  8. I've noticed a lot of people on the forums disparaging Kang, but the Foundry is the only crew I play (cuz I'm poor) and imo Kang makes the Foundry work. You want to spend 1 action per turn Railwalking, and since most models have 2 actions, that only leave you with 1 action to interact or hit stuff. But, most Foundry models have a 2/4/5 damage track. Focused attacks therefore usually hit about as hard as 2 unfocused attacks, meaning Kang allows the Foundry to Railwalk w/o a drop in dps. Combine this with the Rail Driver attack (Neil and Railworkers) and spare scrap and you have a powerful, reliable attack once per activation. The trick is that for Kang, the more models you have the more efficient he is. I run a lot of minion heavy lists whereas I think a lot people in M3E like elite lists This is not to say I always take Kang. If I take >10 ss out of keyword (so the Rider) I seriously consider not taking him because his abilities arent as effective. Itd be interesting to try Tanuki instead of Kang
  9. 1. Any model can be hired by a Leader that it shares a keyword with for its listed cost (no matter the faction). 2. Any Versitile model in your declared faction can be hired for its listed cost 3. Any other model in your declared faction can be hired regardless of keyword, however you must pay an additional 1ss tax. So if you want to play an 8 ss model from another keyword it would be hired for 9ss (but still count as cost 8 for all other purposes, such as Vendetta) The M2E mercenary trait isnt a thing anymore, you cant take random models outside of faction
  10. I rly want to run a Bayou Foundry crew 😕
  11. What would be the timing for that? Would the model move first, would the summons be placed, then the model walk away, or is it the active player's choice?
  12. The breachside broadcasr episdoe 71-72 features Lady J if you are interested, and the story only mildly cares about previous history (only for Sonnia). In it, it details how Lady J uses sound and vibration to get images of the world around her
  13. Well thats initially what I thought, but the detailed timing says otherwise. if you look it says first you resolve any after killing effects, which includes demise, then you drop markers as a result of it being killed. So although it is determined "killed" the moment it drops to 0 hp and doesnt get healed, markers drop after "after killing" effects. So if we want to claim that the Lady J's ability only works in the moment of killing, then it wouldnt work at all. Its unforunate, because Demise: Explosive has the same working, which means it would override the Metal Golem's demise as well. I dont know if thats intended, but rn I think the detailed timing makes it work that way. If the timing were swapped, if markers were placed before demise effects, then it could be interpreted differently, but it cant be that way because that would screw up demise: eternal.
  14. I disagree. Lady J's ability prevents markers dropped from the killing of the model, but it doesnt prevent the demise ability
  15. On the other hand, having Railworkers toss him so he doesnt have to spend his actions walking is very useful. Hoff is probably better if you intend to play around the center of the board, him and a railgolem are expensive, but should fair reasonably well.
  16. Is Hoff better than Sparks tho?
  17. In M2E Auras were the height of the model that created them, but I see no such reference in M3E which is notable because Blasts do have a size. According to pages 30 and 31 (digital) I am led to believe that as long as the model affected by the AoE can see the effect (while inside its horizontal range) then it is affected by the effect regardless of intervening terrain or height. So for example if a size 2 model were behind a height 1 blocking wall, it would still suffer the effects of a shockwave dropped on the other side of that wall even though the shockwave marker is height 0. Likewise a model on the edge of a height 4 building would still be considered inside Vent Steam if Mei Feng (size 2) were on the ground nearby.
  18. On Turn 5 you actually check for VP twice. Once at the end of the Turn, and once at the end of the game. (p 21 digital). So when you check for End of Game VP the buried models will have been killed.
  19. A question was raised in my game vs Jack Daw recently Undying: When this model suffers damage, it may discard a card. If it does so, the damage this model suffers is changed to 1 irreducible damage. Consider Breath of Fire: Target suffers 2/3/4 damage. Models damaged by this Action gain Burning +1. and the Blaze trigger: Models damaged by this Action gain Burning +1 for each in this Action's final duel total (to a maximum of Burning +2). My opponent argued that if Jack Daw were hit by Breath of Fire and discarded a card for Undying, that Jack would not take burning from either Breath of Fire or the Blaze trigger. He argues that because Undying is changing the damage (as opposed to reducing) what is doing the damage to Jack is the Undying ability, not the Breath of Fire action, and therefore Jack was not damaged by Breath of Fire. Another possible interpretation is that when Jack changes the damage he overrides what is on the card, so Target suffers 2/3/4 damage. Models damaged by this Action gain Burning +1 ---> Target suffers 1 irreducible damage. I don't think my opponent agrees with this 2nd interpretation, but I'm gonna ask about it anyway while im here. I do not think either interpretation is correct, because the damage is still coming from the attacking model, and if the irreducible damage were to kill Jack the attacker would receive kill credit (I believe, I think but my opponent would disagree). If the wording for Undying were "Prevent all damage done to this model, then it suffers 1 irreducible damage" then I could agree with the first interpretation, but it doesnt say that. As for the second interpretation, I do not think that Undying changes what is on the card; it changes the incoming damage to 1, but anything else that happens still happens. I think the real sticking point for us, is if Jack uses Undying, is he still considered damaged by the Breath of Fire action (or w/e action is triggering Blaze), and if not, then would an attack still get kill credit if that 1 irreducible damage is what kills Jack
  20. I'm not sure that like rule 5 too much. Certainly you want there to be paths for 50mm models to get across the board, but I think "make sure 50mm models can fit between all terrain" gives them a needless advantage. In general, larger base models have greater board control because they have greater reach, but 30mm models are more nimble because they can fit in more places and can pile in around models more. The game is more interesting imo when there are places 50mm models cant go, and its not like its a straight hinderance because you can use a 50mm model to block off a chokepoint you need to hold. It is also my opinion that the belief that the table needs to be acessible to 50mm models is part of what makes Henchman or Enforcer heavy beater crews feel so strong in Malifaux, because a lot of those models, (Yassunori, Archie, Izamu, Peacekeeper, the Golems, etc) are 50mm models whereas most minions in Malifaux are 30mm models. A compromise I've been playing around with lately is placing destructable objects between large pieces of terrain, so that in those areas 30mm models have the mobility advantage in the early turns, but they can clear the way for their big beater buddies to push up later in the game if either player deems it important
  21. Does this set a precident for shockwaves or pulses, since rn we dont continuously check those. If I drop a shockwave and two models are in range but model A is blocking LOS to model B, only model A takes damage. If the shockwave kills model A we do NOT recheck and reupdate the shockwave, even if the shockwave kills model A, model A still blocks LOS to model B so model B is unaffected by the shockwave
  22. Well I think people are not reading them as synonymous. I think people are arguing that abilities that happen "at the start of a models activation" all fall into the category of resolving in the start activation phase, but abilities that happen "when a model activates" are only checked when the model is selected to go. In essence, many things can happen during the start of a model's activation, but it can only Activate (capital A) once during the start activation phase. Hamelin's ability has the later wording
  23. I think the first thing we need to do is define wordings, I think a significant amount of the disagreement in this thread is due to variations of wording. "At the start of this model's activation" / "When this model activates" / "Models that activate" / "Models that start their activation" Are these wordings synonymous? Do they differ functionally in any way?
