  1. Is it just me, or does English Ivan do Rasputina's thing better? > creates terrain that hinders enemies but helps his allies, models consume the terrain and use it to help with attacks > has living models with different theming than the nonliving crewmembers but both sets synergize with each other >... but he just has so many more toys to play with.
  2. Hey there! Just popping by to see if there's anyone still about near southwest Wisconsin ( Sparta / La Crosse / Winona MN ) who still plays after the edition change. We had a pretty decent enough meta during m2e but then people moved and lives changed and the new edition leaked WAY too early... Well. If anyone's in the area, feel free to message me and hopefully we can actually flip some cards
  3. Not for metal gamin ; the reason you do it for ice/fire is that you save 2 stones per golem you create. For old M2e activation control to work the way you'd want it to, you need to out-activate your opponent by a significant margin. Take, for example, an old Ramos crew I used to run, which had ~6ish models or so, but every turn added +3 spiders to the headcount and quickly could spend the whole top of turn 3 just with Ramos summoning + spider activations, then when the opponent had spent all his cards I could activate Langston and Joss and go to town. You can't realistically do that in this edition with how pass tokens work unless you're playing a master who uses those in fun and interesting ways.
  4. I want to hear people's thoughts on the topic - particularly, how it pertains to the Arcanists faction. What have you used that works? What have you used that doesn't? Are there any combos in other factions that we seem to be having trouble with that taking a second master might fix - or is it really just the 'fluffy/timmy' option that isn't viable in a competitive standing?
  5. Pretty much that. An easier way to think of it is if you are within 1" of Raspy or ANY ice pillar, you gain slow or discard a card.
  6. I'm pretty sure that Idols is easy money for Rasputina. She can keep the opponent locked down while Silent Ones patch up your models.
  7. So I asked. It appears that Ox Mages work the way we think they should - You can choose to activate the replace first and then the ox mage's ability.
  8. Carrying over the discussion from This Thread. Let's say that Sandeep has summoned one Ice Gamin, which is within aura 4 of two other ice gamin. Of course, it gains the "Shackled Elements" upgrade, giving it slow. On his next activation, he uses the Oxfordian Mage's tactical action, Arcane Conduit, which, until end phase, allows any friendly model that activates within range to end a condition affecting it. Next, the player activates the Ice Gamin, and uses "Our Powers Combined" from the Shackled Elements upgrade to fusion the three ice gamin into an ice golem. Does "Arcane Conduit" resolve before generating AP? Does the ice golem have 1 or 2 AP? Does the ice golem have the "Slow" condition?
  9. Wouldn't be bad to do this about m3e! I'd contribute but my local meta dried up when the new edition was announced.
  10. I used the Sandeep Cheat Sheet tonight while playing into Titania- it went very well, super informational and helped me remember not to use CA 6 on Beacon spells
  11. I kinda feel like 'our half' of the Backdraft box is/should be part of Kaeris' base crew to begin with. I see several parallels with the Rasputina and Ironsides boxes - Kaeris, her totem, Fire golem, Fitz+Saboteurs.
  12. Stuff like this is why I wish we had some beta rules for what Wyrd was sending down the pipe... fire golem testing could breathe life into Kaeris
  13. So the other day my friend and I came up with a very intriguing idea for a new dual-faction master : Resser/Arcanist, with a sort of 'Doctor Frankenstein'/'Bioshock Splicer' feel to it, taken to Wyrd's usual extremes. The way he would play would function as a support piece, but not in a traditional sense; instead of broadcasting auras or debuffing enemies, the model would play by attaching upgrades to other friendly constructs or undead that would alter their statistics, give them new abilities or actions, or do other fun and interesting things. I personally think that there is plenty of design space for such a master - The only other model which seems comparable is McCabe, who fits more into the 'relic hunter with a bag of goodies/Indiana Jones' archetype as opposed to the 'Mad scientist seeking absolute perfection in his creations' archetype. Building upon this, I think that the ability to take Out-of-faction undead and/or constructs would help enhance his playstyle of upgrading and/or flesh-grafting his crew as the game goes on. I think that something like this would be absolutely sweet. You could work by discarding scrap/corpses to help pay for cost (in addition to cards flipped/CA checks/stones for suits/etc) or other mechanics to help give your opponent counterplay. In addition, I think that a concept like this one would really add thematic depth to both the Resser and the Arcanist factions, and would likely help ship a lot of models that Wyrd doesn't really sell that often - Imagine if you could hire an Ice Golem and then slap on a modification that let it have a better DEF in-game? And let's not even get started about the amazing sculpts which could come out of a concept like this....Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. In short, I think that this concept has enough room for Wyrd to make something awesome without stepping on anyone's toes design-space-wise. It'd help make models that don't see a lot of play see table-time more often, it would probably ship a LOT of products that don't see frequent play, and it would add another bit of thematic depth and interesting gameplay to both Ressers and Arcanists. What do you guys think? Also, does Wyrd have some kind of a 'suggestion box' that I could drop this in?
