  1. Yeah, Nellie would be great but I think she's a bit complicated for me! I have been thinking of a Dash 1 gunline though. Would be nice to take down Unbound purely through the weight of firepower! Or his minions. I just wonder how good it would be at getting to the back.
  2. I have (probably foolishly!) agreed to a game against Damian Ravencroft (not sure which version) and will be taking Guild. What are the best options for dealing with his nonsense? My first thoughts are Sonnia for blasting from range, Perdy for similar reasons (plus the Stunned on Trick Shot might be useful!), or Badlands Sheriff for that sweet, sweet, Sandworm to murder any weenies in the back line. But I freely accept I'm going to get trounced! I'm just looking for any advice, if there is any!
  3. You only need one model... For now... But yeah, I know what you mean (he's the only Wildfire model I don't have too). It can be annoying when you only need one model out of a box but if you had Colette, the whole box might be useful, and if you had Rasputina, then the Ice Dancers might be useful there (then again, maybe not, they aren't the greatest!). And Malifaux players do tend to expand beyond their original crew at some point to get more from a specific faction so even if you think you don't want them now, they might come in useful further down the line. The only other real options are trying to find a second edition Carlos Vasquez box second-hand on a site like eBay (but remember it won't come with a M3E card, so you would need to use the app or order an on-demand print from Wargames Vault), or trying to get hold of a Miss Tique model, which is an alt sculpt for Carlos and looks very cool. These are normally only available from the Wyrd webstore during their sales, but they may also end up on eBay and the like.
  4. I think she might be Aua - They are the branch of the Fae that dealt in technology and lived in the desert. One of Tiri's titles is Nomad, and her style of clothing definitely has some desert-dweller hints. The only other model that looks like her is the blacksmith dude with the big hammer and the little spider-anvil, so that's the technology link. The only thing that gives me pause with teh theory is the look. The Aua are described as The Aua were tall and strong, often bearing eyes of brilliant colors with skin radiating the warmth of the desert sun. I'm not sure that blue really feels like radiating the desert sun, but it has been a long time in Malifaux history, so who knows? Tiri being Neverborn-Outcast would make sense, and the Clampetts being Bayou/Explorers might also fit, which could leave Kastore as pure Resser, despite his Nephilim roots
  5. The best source is probably the TTB book From Nightmares. That gives a nice overview of Neverborn history.
  6. I've had the same issue with Hoffman and the Warden. The only thing I find useful in any game is being able to give out Slow at range (albeit only 8"). However there is also some use as a tech pick when going against crews with Terrifying because of the Ruthless (which is weirdly lacking in a crew of robots - what do they have to be scared of?)
  7. It is. Anything with a +X stacks, and there's no upper limit, unless specifically mentioned in the rules or FAQ (like Focused +2). Armor isn't, so Armor +3 is perfectly fine. Your opponent might not thank you though!
  8. I myself fought Reva (Luminary) yesterday with Dashel 2 and I feel your pain. She's a tough nut to crack. if you're finding gamin are getting killed too early, take a Golem (ideally you want both). They won't take the damage from Burning, and the Golem can siphon Burning off annoying models (hello Lampad). Both Gamin and Golem can mess with Pyre markers too (the Gamin is better here). If you can get the Pyres off the table (or more than 6" away) from a Lampad, and the Golem can siphon the Burning it uses to protect itself, you've got a chance of taking out a really annoying model. Oxfordian Mages may also be useful (take this with a pinch of salt as I have never actually used them). The Healing Mantra will come in useful on the Golem (and possibly keep the Gamin alive a little longer), Elemental Bolt can use its trigger to reduce Burning and switch it to Poison or Slow, and if you do get close, Counterspell should be really useful. Sadly the only advice I have for Vincent is don't summon until he's dead (and good luck with that!) But yeah, its hard. I have faced her a couple of times (both versions) and struggle to even compete, never mind beat her!
  9. This. Don't forget that Quellers and the Handler are also SS users so between them, Sam, and Sonnia herself, your Spellcasters usually aren't too far from a SS user to turn on their Fast.
  10. The easiest way to think of the titles is that the original is generally the version of the character as was, whereas the title version represents the state of the character at the current time in the story. For example, the original Sonnia is the version of the character towards the end of M2E - still wearing the mask and the Tyrant Cherufe is bound inside her. Following the events of the story (taking us up to Malifaux Burns), Cherufe is released and bonds with Governor General Kitchener to become the Burning Man and Sonnia is freed from the mask, but mentally scarred by the experience. That's what the title, Sonnia, Unmasked, represents. Having the two versions of the same character allows lore-focused players to play the version of the character that appeals to them most (while also offering rules-focused players different ways to play the same crews).
  11. I have considered all of these options at one point or another! I did come up with a list I want to try: All The Small things (Guild) Size: 50 - Pool: 4 Leader: Cornelius Basse Totem(s): Bernadette Basse Hires: Clockwork Trap Clockwork Trap 2 Clockwork Trap 3 Clockwork Trap 4 Clockwork Trap 5 Clockwork Trap 6 Clockwork Trap 7 Clockwork Trap 8 Trained Raptor Trained Raptor 2 Trained Raptor 3 Pathfinder Austringer Disease Containment Unit References: Clockwork Trap Skybound Ally Guild Hound It'll be complete pants on the table, of course, but the idea of a list spamming Traps, Birds, and summoning hounds is hilarious to me.
  12. Welcome back! Ultimately this depends on the crews, but as a general rule you'll need 5 30mm markers for Strategy tokens, a selection of 30mm markers for Scheme/Scrap/Corpse Markers, something to track Soulstones, and some way of tracking Conditions (Focused is the one thats available to everyone, but any more will depend on what crews you've picked). If you sleeve your stat cards, most of the conditions can be written on the sleeves and erased as needed if you use dry erase markers. Breachside Broadcast is still going: http://www.breachsidebroadcast.com/
  13. I was reading From Nightmares last week and assuming the new Nephilim Master is Kastore (as seems incredibly likely), faction-wise he is probably going to be pure Neverborn, despite his vampiric tendencies. He doesn't really seem to have any ties to Ressers or other undead (other than Gwyll) but the background details are very slim, so who knows? It would make sense for him not to be dual-faction, given the current dual-faction Master numbers. We'd need Bayou/Resser and ES/Outcast to bring every faction to 3 dual-faction Masters each, but Angler does seem like an odd Keyword to have for a Bayou/Resser Master, so maybe it would be a dual-Keyword Master)? ES/Outcast seems like an easier fit, so it would be interesting to see what they come up with there.
  14. We've alreeady got a Gremlin purveyor of fancy hats. Its only one more step to high society!
  15. For clarity, Drawn To Pain is still a Trigger, so the restriction would apply if it caused an attack. But it doesn't so its just pedantry on my part! The attack is coming from Enraged By The Mage, *not* Drawn To Pain. Enraged By The Mage isn't a Trigger (even if the Push that causes it to happen came from one) so yes, that attack can still declare Triggers. For even more fun horrible-ness, take a Guild Lawyer and use that to Obey a Witchling (ideally a Thrall) to Charge and it will get two free attacks that can both declare Triggers (one for the Charge itself, and one for Enraged By The Mage).
  16. His summons are more of an afterthought. He's generally better off using the other trigger on Break Protocol (Which helps with Breakthrough and Load 'Em Up). If you're using Butcher to summon, you're doing it wrong.
  17. If you're wanting to try Dashel, go Butcher rather than Summoner. Butcher, Executioner, and a Mounted Guard/Pale Rider (to move the Executioner) should be your starting point. Summons can be a liability on Cursed Objects, but Butcher can cover a huge amount of table when he needs to (Without any outside assistance, you're looking at 26" plus his 2" melee range. With a Sergeant that goes up to 30". And obviously there's Ride With Me potential on top of that). It also helps that he's brutal when he gets up close too!
  18. This is also confirmed in the Through The Breach book for the Guild, Above The Law. There's an assumption here that Ravencroft will be non-titled, and titled. I think its probably more likely that he will have two titled versions, like McCabe (The only other Master that has a titled version in a core box).
  19. Brutal is visually my favourite model in the faction (possibly the game) but sadly it's just not unique enough for me to take in crews very often. That said, if you're going to, using Domadores to Obey it for that sweet on the Greatsword is the way to go. Now I haven't tried Lady J 2 yet, so can't comment there, but Recruiters aren't great with Lady J 1 (I've always felt they work better out of Dashel 1). They might be worth considering if you're running 2 Domadores and 2 Exorcists, but that probably isn't happening a lot of the time. Lone Marshal is also one to grab. He's excellent. But yeah, on the whole, the Keyword provides most of what you need for Lady J.
  20. And that's (2!) more Hoffman models to add to my collection. Since McCabe went 10T/Explorers, its felt like Guild have been lacking in the alt model department, and this year, you've decided to brutalise my wallet in the best possible way. That complaint definitely isn't valid anymore! Between these guys and the Rotten Harvest models, I feel spoiled! Add to that Miss Tique to flesh out my Wildfire (Carlos was the only one missing), its going to be an expensive Black Friday (I'm waiting till then as I don't fancy paying the shipping to UK twice!)
  21. He's one of the most underrated Henchmen in the game and all because he isn't flashy. But he's a killing machine!
  22. I'd probably go with Sonnia 2, tbh. She does three things that are really useful against Kaeris: Can pull Burning off friendly models to give herself a , gets Soulstones after models (friendly or enemy) with Burning +2 are killed, and forces Kaeris' models to treat Pyre Markers as Severe. Sonnia 1 is vulnerable to the Pyre nonsense in a way that Sonnia 2 isn't (its still dangerous of course) And yes, sadly the Fire Golem can't be Scorched 😪
  23. Wake the Dead for Jury and Domadores (particularly the latter) is pretty much a must, I would say. Then the Pale Rider is always nice too.
  24. I think I'll slightly revise my original answer. If you can get your head around how her crew works, I think she's going to be super-competitive in GG3 Exclusive Interview stops enemy models palming off Curse Tokens in Cursed Objects. False Witnesses (and Journalists in general!) are great for Load 'Em Up and Set The Trap. Still too much for my brain to contend with, but she's definitely got play!
