  1. Well you can steal body part's from gravyards and use some cheap copperwire ... Oh - you didn't mean... In all seriousness Yan Lo is your guy
  2. Sounds like a fun thing to try (I want to now - just need to build my gunsmiths.) The range is not as good as other faction's gunlines but hey - we're Arcanists not Ortegas! For your turn of heavy "shooting" you can use one or more clockwork pigeons to help the oxfordian mages' damage output.
  3. Like has been said above you flip/cheat in one card once both to see if your spell is cast successfully and then compare that same result to the targets Wp/Df to see if the spell hits them/affects them.
  4. I buy models based on what I feel my crew/faction is lacking. For example I found I was lacking ranged offence for my arcanists so I recently bought the Gunsmiths. I also go on what looks cool
  5. Hey Nathan. I'm a fellow player with severe social difficulties so I know how hard this kind of thing is. Sadly I don't have a huge lot of advice :/ Just hang in there and take it easy - try and integrate yourself slowly. Start by just trying to say hey and talking a tiny bit about the game - I found this helped me as it was diverting some of the focus of me and onto the game in question. Take it at your own pace Good luck!
  6. This is great as someone recently got me Willie with the 1st ed card so I need a new one Now what to do for the other 9
  7. Sonnia is a blaster with a burning theme. Other models (Kaeris for example) use burning far more effectively.
  8. This thread is kind of long so here's the ones I've noticed - may have missed some. Lady Justice - based of the the depiction of Justice including blindfold and scales theme Perdita - may be a reference to Shakespeare's Winter's Tale or the greek mytholigical figure who gave humanity gifts, the daughter of Pandora Sonnia - based of the witch hunts in Europe, her mask makes me think of the man in the iron mask but can't think off a story link McMourning - the mad scientist archetype with strong elements of modern dr frankenstien images Hoffman - from The Sandman (the old short story not the Vertigo comics) Lucas McCabe - Indiana Jones Samael Hopkins - Samael is the name of the angel of death in Jewish lore, and Hopkins comes from Matthew Hopkins the witch hunter general All the nephilim - the name comes from a race of giants (who's exact origin is argued about by theologians) in the old testament The riders - the four horsemen of the apocalypse Nicodem - based of Baron Samedi and the name comes from Nicodemus in the bible Seamus - Irish mad hatter/jack the ripper Kirai - her name means hate, based on the old tradition of vengful ghosts. Anna Lovelace - based of the mathematician Ada Lovelace Datsue Ba - in Buddhist lore Datsue-Ba is a being who helps the spirits of children cross over the river in the underworld. Mortimer - his name comes from the french word for death and he's got a Burke and Hare feel to him Philip and the Nanny - I think this may be a reference to the short story "the Nanny" by Philip Bete Noir - french phrase meaning black beast, means someone or something you really hate Yin - penanggalans are an asian vampiric ghost Flesh construct - based of Dr Frankenstein's monster Onryo - a type of vengeful spirit in Japanese lore Shikome - another Japanese mythological being, a hag that got revenge on a husband for breaking the promise he made to his dead wife. Mei Feng - the name means (roughly) Bright Wind Rasputina - her names comes from Rasputin and also has a strong Ice Queen feel Ironsides - Comes from the word ironside which means a strong person with great endurance Kaeris - based of Icarus Colette - after the biblical figure in the story of Cain and Abel Wendigo - flesh eating monsters which where once humans Coryphee - the leader of a corps de ballet Willie - Willy Coyote and his love of explosives Lilith - Adam's first wife and the mother of monsters Zoraida - based on baba yaga with strong influences from David Bowie as the Goblin King Pandora - the greek legend who opened the box of woes on humanity in addition Pandora, Lilith and Zoraida represent the figures of Maiden, Mother and Crone Collodi - the writer of Pinochio Barbaros - the origin of the word barbarian Vasillsa - another part of the author of pinochio's Cherub - type of angel, one of the highest orders of angels Poltergeist - noisy ghosts, common in european ghost stories Doppelganger - doppelgängers a being in folklore able to take the appearance of a person Lelu - based of an incubus the male sexual demons Lilitu - based on a succubus the female sexual demons Tuco - name meaning ugly one Bunraku - a type of Japanese puppetry Waldergeists - germanic tree spirits Alps - nightmare creatures with a vampiric tendency Hamelin - the pied piper of Jack Daw - Edgar Allen Poe's "the Raven" was oriinally entitled "Le Jackdaw" Leveticus - the biblical figure Misaki - japanese name meaning "beautiful blossom" Ama No Zako - japanese monster god Amanoaki Montessor - Edgar Allen Poe character Lady Leiga - another Poe character Ashes and dst - from the biblical phrase "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" Lazarus - biblical figure who was bought back to life Sue - a man named Sue, a huge Johnny Cash reference Shenlong - chinese dragon spirit Kamaitachi - weasel like yokai who control winds Joguromo - Japenese yokai, kind of like a goblin Komainu - lion like statues that guard Japanese shrines Tengu - bird like nature yokai from Japenese lore Some'er teeth - I'll give you Some'er teeth - some are here some are there Ulix - Odysseus and his crew who got turned into pigs The Crossroads 7 - based on the seven deadly sins and the belief you can make a deal with a devil at the crossroads for musical ability.
  9. I think you mean why does Victorian architecture like Malifauxs?
  10. Outcast/Neverborn master - A mimic who grew up amongst Malifaux's orphans and seems almost human.
  11. The starter set models are good for new players (especially with their simple rules) but for a demo you have a player there to help you so a more complex model that better represents the faction is better.
  12. Hello and welcome! Just forward your paychecks to Wyrd it saves time.
  13. Lillith with Bad Juju and Hexed amongst you to throw waldergeists is my approach to this. Waldergeists can then throw up a defensive wall against shooting for my models as they move up to meet them and place makers for breakthrough. Lilith can hurl either another schemer or a damage dealer/support model depending on crew match up with tangle shadows.
  14. I'm currently organising a Malifaux campaign with the Pit Gaming Store over several months starting either in January or February at Thors Hammer Gaming Club in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire (I'll include a link below). We have a few players at club but any players nearby who would be interested message me or post here and I can let you know when more details are confirmed The more players we have the better ^__^ Thors hammer gaming club
  15. Just as a quick explanation: status's such as poison and burning with +1 or +2 stack into the same condition. So it is only one condition to be removed.
  16. I got my Kaeris box yesterday so hope to be getting in some games with her.
  17. Hooded rider also gets masks but Flay is probably not as good as his other triggers.
  18. Ah in that case my mistake. Off the tip of my head Coppelius has a in his attack but not sure how great flay is with him and Bishop can gain from adaptive.
  19. Flay only effects Nephilim and if I remember correctly can only be taken by them as well. Barbaros - he makes an ok holder for this upgrade as he only has 1 personal upgrade. He does have other options as well. Nekima - if you take her she doesn't need the flay but others benefit from it. She has better options though. Angel Eyes - she's less likely to be in the middle of combat then other models which means she's less likely to be taken out (and there by loosing the upgrade for the game) Lelu & Lilitu - both good for this upgrade and they don't have many other competing upgrade choices in a Lilith crew. Mr Graves - depends how you play him but in my experience he often goes down about halfway through. Personally I wouldn't put this on him. Tuco - Tuco isn't going to be in the thick of things with any luck and as Obsidian Talons has no range limit he's a good option to keep the upgrade in effect through out the game. Depending on crew make up and schemes/strats the holder of Obsidian Talons could be the focus of quite a bit of fire (in a kill heavy pool against rezzers for example being able to cheat through damage flips.
  20. No - Instinctual let's a model take "two (0) Actions during it's Activation as long as they are both different."
  21. I have a few gaming friends/contacts in Nottingham will ask them if they know of any Malifaux players there for you
