  1. So I had my first game with Sandeep this evening and thought I'd give my impressions. Strat was Reconnoiter. Schemes: Exhaust Their Forces,Hunting Party,Covert Breakthrough,A Quick Murder. Corner Deployment. He took Jack Daw, Montressor (with new upgrade), Envy, Sue, Malifaux Child, 2 Guilty and Johana with The Bigger They Are (ouch, see next). I went Academic, though I do not think this is the best list by any means and took. Sandeep with Enlightened Soul, Unaligned Sage and To Command Another Plane. Valedictorian with Imbued Energies and Warding Runes, Kudra with Free of Mortal Shackles and Warding Runes, Arcane Effigy, an Ice Gamin and three Oxfordian Mages. (Means that only the Effigy, the Gamin and Sandeep don't give Johana +1 Damage). I won't go for a blow by blow because the game went one sided quite quickly, instead I'll give highlights: - So many options! I need practise just for speed, Beacon allows so many options to your crew I was thinking "do I teleport this chap? Well, if I do, I can't teleport this one later so..." - Student of all is excellent. I got an Ice Gamin to use The Mind Among the Senses to pull Sandeep about 3" up (poor positioning on deployment my side), had a tome in the total so summoned a Metal Gamin with Commands in Wind. Gamin then ran forwards towards Envy, Sandeep later ran twice and popped out Banasuva between the Metal Gamin after my opponent's crew had activated. I won the initiative on the next turn, so Banasuva managed 5 attacks, killing the Guilty, wounding Envy and using Arcane storm (and getting lucky) to injure Sue behind him. - + flips from Commands in Wind is amazing, meant furious casting was a real threat from the Oxfordians, even to Jack. On the other hand, the lack of M&SU was noticeable as they did not get + flips on WP duels - The Bigger They Are upgrade on a relic hammer is scary. - Sadly, Quick Murder meant I was cagey with Vale, so I didn't see her potential. - Was trying to use Kudra for a scheme runner-hunter but I massively whiffed for most of turn three. On my way home I was thinking of her compared to Cassandra... yeah, Cassie wins in almost all ways. - I never actually got to use Enlightened Soul nor make melee attacks with Sandeep, so can't comment there. That's it for now, but overall I was very impressed and look forwards to playing him more. (and I am, three games at a story encounter tourney this Sunday, woo!) Laters all
  2. Cheers. That had been my plan, likely an Ice Gamin so I can set up for +1 Damage on him too after a double walk.
  3. I'm playing my first game with Sandeep tomorrow but I worry about burning through stones for this reason. Did you hire a gamin initially to summon Bossanova off? (Heard name that on Unfauxcast and now I can't call him anything else)
  4. Just a note, the Little Lass happens to score Show of Force, a suited scheme. It's sneaky, and she has some punch for her size. I love using her to score for that.
  5. Make that eight signed up. Prepare for the Robin Williams quotes, guys
  6. So, I’m looking at picking up my Arcanists for the first time in nearly a year and was wondering how often people reach for the Emissary with each master. Are there masters that a heavily improved by it’s presence (here’s looking at you, Toni) or find it unnecessarily/possibly even restricted? If your answer is ‘depends’, then on what? Do you run it for some schemes and avoid it for others? Please, share your knowledge with me
  7. It's a niche event, but three roosters are an easy way to three VP in Public Demonstration thanks to a potential 21" move across the board. You have to make sure that they will survive until the end of the turn, of course, but in my experience the turns after (when you have three Roosters threatening their backfield) tends to get them into a flap. Get it. A flap. I'm so funny I worry at times. .. I'll get my coat.

First off, congrats on the win! Could you give us some more info on how you used her, Kaiser? What strats/schemes you used her for etc. I've got Toni waiting for my return to Arcanists (not my fault I got distracted by a Spoon).
  9. Didn't you mean "sorry, not sorry Karl McConnell"?
  10. Collodi doesn't. He gets Wicked Dolls (4SS), Marionnettes (3SS) or (with an upgrade) effigies (4SS). He has no native way to generate the scrap to summon from either, where Levi comes with Alyce in his box, nor can he summon when he kills an enemy model (and this is an amazing way to summon, the activation swing is huge). Is Levi a powerful summoner? Nope, he's no Ramos or Nicodem but neither is he intended to be. Summoning for him, like Collodi, is a supplementary ability on top of his main focus. Back on topic, I like the changes and really like the effort given to explaining the process behind them. After years of playing a certain other system (might rhyme with Boarspammer), I'm still happily surprised to see the amount of involvement Wyrd has with it's community.
  11. I've run Collodi pretty heavily earlier this year and had some decent success (5th in a 33 man tournament is the best) and I've never touched Vasilisa. To me, she is too fragile for her cost and I just have visions of her dying. She's far from unusable, but if you're curious about her on the table then I'm with Fetid. Proxy her up for some games before committing.
  12. There's some stellar advice in this thread (kudos to Clement for the most part), I can't help but think we should have an M2E Mah Tuckett thread like the other faction subforums do for some of their masters. Would anyone mind if I organised this into a new thread? I will give credit where it's due, of course. I'll give this until tomorrow evening (as I have a tournament in the morning!), if there's no objections I'll work on it then
  13. First, that is awesome to hear, well done! Second, did you have a 'core' crew that you begin with when building a Mah crew (aside from the obligatory upgrades that you have stated already)? Cheers!
  14. I'm not honestly sure the venue has the capacity for that.
  15. Yan Lo was played excellently by Josh Leak, who is one of the Black Jokers and a regular opponent of the current UK number one and a damn good Resurrectionist player (checking rankings, he's only played as Ressers in tournaments, my record is more erratic). Quite simply, he knew his master and crew well, picked the right schemes and then out played me.
  16. Molly with Mah (won 10-4), Yan Lo with Mah (lost 8-3, I have a blind spot for undercover entourage), Viks with Mah (10-3 win) day one. Day two was Kirai with Wong (only 3-2 win, I chose poorly with schemes and he played it very carefully) and McCabe with Wong (4-7 loss).
  17. She's the reason I've just gotten into Gremlins. Had two practice games with her then took her three out of the five games at the English GT this weekend. Had great fun with her in each game (I love swapping between support-pushes and whonking things) and won four of the five games I played. Also had a fun moment of the Little Lass hunting after the Student of Conflict. Go go totem battle!
  18. Hello! Welcome to the game One of the greatest things about Malifaux is that every master is complex with layers of how they work in what situation. Sadly, this means that it is a bit tough to get into initially. Is Collodi more complex than others? Not overly I don't think. Yes, there are some more straight forwards masters (Rasputina, Wong and Lady Justice spring to mind) but they have plenty of depth to them too. What I think is far more important in your choice is to pick someone you want to play, especially if funds are an issue. I personally love Collodi in both playstyle and aesthetics and from what you've said he certainly seems to be a good choice for you to start. I'd say go for it
  19. What's the painting minimum/is there one? After yesterday, I'm sorely tempted to get my Gremlins painted this week for it. Also, put me down for the meal as well (Graeme Nicholls). Has a choice been made for where it'll be?
  20. And Rooster Riders! I might have picked up Mah and some for some silliness...
  21. Throw in an effigy or two with armour and htk as well. Yeah, he does nicely at recon in my experience.
