    Whiskey in the Gamin-o

Happy Monday Wyrdos! Last week we finished looking at the Undying. Now it's time to start looking into another upcoming story encounter box, Backdraft! We are starting by looking at some of the Gremlin models. To start with we have the Whiskey Gamin! Let's learn a little about these adorable, delicious little barrels. Unlike elemental Gamin, which are summoned by powerful magic spells and rituals, Whiskey Gamin are created by enterprising Gremlin artificers to carry their moonshine from one place to another. After the first few Whiskey Gamin disappeared into the swamp, the Gremlins started replacing their feet with wheels in order to make it more difficult for the little machines to run off with all their alcohol. When this made the Whiskey Gamin too cumbersome to escape predators (most notably, other Gremlins that wanted the moonshine they carried), the engineers replaced their arms with pump nozzles, allowing the Gamin to spray their attackers with the high proof (and very flammable) moonshine they carried. This is Gremlin engineering at its finest, folks. On the table, Whiskey Gamin are fast models that spread around (Alcohol) Poison(ing) and light inebriated models on fire. Like true Gamin, they explode when they are killed, showering everyone around them with moonshine. _____________________________ So, combination Akaname and Fingers with some Expunge and/or Burning synergy. Cannot wait to get these! Oh, Brewmaster, like Dylan said, "Times they are a changing!"

    McMourning summons

So I may be missing something obvious. if so just point it out and ill beat my own face, but why does McMourning's new upgrade let him summon "NON-GAMIN" beast? would it just give him access to too much, is it for fluff reasons. or is there an obscure broken synergy with one of them I'm not seeing? I bet the answer is staring at me somewhere lol

    Sandeep discussion

Howdy folks! I just started blogging again, and I've recently thrown together some info on Sandeep, including some ideas for using his summons! I hope you guys enjoy it! http://tobeanarcanist.blogspot.com/2016/08/i-gamin-will-save-us.html

    Gamin model question

If I paint up a trio of Ice Gamin as Fire Gamin, am I going to get flak for not using the right model? Or rather, will it create unreasonable amounts of confusion? I own the Ice Gamin unpainted, and don't own the Fire Gamin, and making the model look fiery doesn't seem like much of a stretch. Thoughts? PS: This would be the metal Ice Gamin model, not the current plastic one.
  5. Hi, I am fairly new to Malifaux and have just purchased myself my first crew. I have notice that some of my models have certain characteristics I.e gamin, beast or hoard. I can't seem to find what if any these key words give for rules? Could some one help me out with this please? The keys words I want to know are gamin, hoard and beast. thanks Liam

Here's my first Malifaux commission. Beautiful models that were a pleasure to paint!

  8. I'm looking to fill out some of my missing pieces from different crews. I live in Australia so please factor that into any decisions made before offering to sell models. I am willing to purchase Kaeris and Mei Feng Box Sets.

    Metal Gamin Protecting themselves

Hi all had this come up in agame today and didnt know what to make of it. Can a metal gamin use protection from metal on itself? RAW it is a friendly model within 3" and is within 3" of a friendly metal gamin at all times. Any idea if this is correct?
  10. Sorry, no actual ham here. This is more of a "new to multi-part metal and resin minis" post. I've been collecting miniatures off and on since Partha's AD&D line and Blood Bowl, but most of that was single-part or maybe gluing on a sword. For the most part assembling the multi-part minis have not been bad- it's a bit irritating but the trade-off is much more interesting and dynamic figures. I'll manage. I got my nice Winter Shale bases from Micro Arts Studio via FRPGames recently and based up my Rasputina crew. All things considered, it went fairly well since it was my first major pinning operation. My old method was lots of JB Weld and hope, which didn't work quite as badly as one would imagine (I have a poor Huma's Silver Dragon mini somewhere that would argue otherwise, but I digress). Rasputina, the Storm half of Snow Storm, two of the three Gamin, and the Ice Golem went without a hitch. The Silent One's arm fit perfectly into its socket, and I somehow managed to get a small pin into one of her feet. Since she's in a three-point stance I figure that will work (not sure what to do with the ice crystals though). Snow's hands- one fit nicely, the other not so much. They are on for now but I can see myself having to attempt to pin them later (with what, I have no idea- bent staples?). At least de-tabbing her was simple enough- I'm going to magnetize her so that I can opt to use her as a second Silent One as necessary (thanks to whomever suggested that idea- I'm still very much in-the-box when it comes to working with minis). Storm's horns were tricky, but some filing seems to have helped. Miss Demeanor's been giving me trouble. One arm fit great, the other not so much. A little filing seems to have helped, but I am not convinced it's going to last. At least pinning her to the fencepost insert from the Graveyard set went well (other than a prick from the pin vise). I'm loving the bases (both Micro Arts and Wyrd's inserts), and it's amazing how much cooler the figures look on them. I am sold on good basing now, whether bought or customized. Then we get to 3rd Gamin. The one I nickname the Groovin' Gamin because he looks like he's dancing a jig (as opposed to the Ready Gamin and the Knuckle-Dragging Gamin). While I was sawing off his tab (note to self- might need a good non-vacuum vise), his right leg broke off at the knee. Since that's his support, I'm at an impasse. I was able to put a pin in the other leg but now I have a gimp Gamin. Am I the only heavy-handed fool that's done this? Here are my options as I see them: Just glue it back. Been there, done that, doesn't seem to be working. Pin the leg back. I have maybe one bit small enough to not completely destroy the thigh, and even then I don't know if I can find anything that will both pin it and actually hold up. I could try my hand at sculpting a replacement leg, but again, no idea what gauge wire to use as an armature. I'd probably have to cut the leg off as close to the body as possible. Any advice on how to fix our little icy buddy? I am glad I didn't start with Ramos or Hoffman- I think the constructs would've put me in a straitjacket.

    Fire & Ice (preliminary) List

Arcanists Crew - 35 - Brawl Rasputina -- 9 Pool Essence of Power [2ss] Kaeris [8ss] Essence of Power [2ss] Fire Gamin [4ss] Fire Gamin [4ss] Gunsmith [6ss] Gunsmith [6ss] Ice Gamin [4ss] Ice Gamin [4ss] It'd be nice if Kaeris had fire mirror to go along with 'Tina's ice mirror. I have a feeling that anything that I'd want to do with having Kaeris teamed up with 'Tina would work far better with just 'Tina and her forces.
