  1. An Adepticon 2013 exclusive Fate Deck and a copy of Evil Baby Orphanage with promo cards have been added to the auctions!
  2. Hello! I have put up a bunch of auctions on ebay for some cool old metals including Puppet Wars Teddy, The Carver, the Easter War Rooster, Miss Pack and the Gremlinette, as well as some blisters of great 1st edition models and a couple of limited plastic models. I am selling many of the 1st edition models with their arsenal deck cards so they can be used right away, I used a bunch of old metals in my games simply because a lot of the old sculpts were as good as or better than the current ones! Auctions can be found here! https://www.ebay.com/sch/gh25/m.html?item=362112167320&hash=item544f912d98%3Ag%3AY04AAOSwdKZZxxqz&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  3. The remaining models have been moved to ebay! Thank you everyone!
  4. Nightmare Teddy has now been sold, the other items will be going to ebay at the end of the week if nobody here is interested!
  5. I have decided to try selling these models, and I wanted to give people on these forums the first crack before I put them up on ebay. I am asking the following prices plus whatever the shipping costs end up being, and I am willing to combine shipping. Please message me if interested! Metal Gremlinette $50 Miss Anne Thrope $25 Miss Pack $25 Alt plastic Perdita $25 Gremlin War Rooster, metal Easter special that has the gremlin rider wearing a bunny suit $50 The Carver, metal version that was only sold for Black Friday in 2011 in very limited quantities $75 Metal Collette crew box $15 Metal alt Viktorias $15 Metal Lucius crew box with the female Guild Guard $15
  6. I just don't do Facebook. The metals are tough because they haven't been sold in a few years, and I keep having trouble finding listings for them on ebay. I assume it is due to their rarity?
  7. hello all! I have been debating putting some models up on ebay but first I wanted to see about what the models sold for to see if it was "worth" it. Does anyone know what these models go for? All of them are now and unassembled in original packaging. Metal Nightmare Teddy, the huge one with alternate arm/head and victim (SOLD) Metal Gremlinette Miss Anne Thrope Miss Pack Alt plastic Perdita Gremlin War Rooster, metal Easter special that has the gremlin rider wearing a bunny suit The Carver, metal version that was only sold for Black Friday in 2011 in very limited quantities Metal Collette crew box Metal alt Viktorias Metal Lucius crew box with the female Guild Guard Thank you!
  8. Beautiful renders but I have to agree that they completely do not fit into the setting, even more so than the Crossroads Seven. I will admit, I was really not a fan of Wyrds earlier plastics but they seem to be getting better over time. I do wish that they still credited the sculptors.
  9. Nice model, but no beard so she is not a dwarf. She is a great looking gnome beer maiden though!
  10. Says who? If you play at home you can use whatever you want. If you go and play with your friends at the local store you can use whatever you want. The only time the model might not get to be used (and I do mean might) is if he is playing in a tournament that actually uses the Gaining Grounds rules, and the TO is actually using the proxy rule from Gaining Grounds- if you are running a tournament you don't have to use any of the Gaining Grounds rules, let alone all of them. Even then your opponent might not care and you may end up using the model anyways on the sly. I bet these excellent proxies will see plenty of use!
  11. I think there is a happy medium though. True, there are a few companies out there that basically thrive on cheesecake for the sake of cheesecake. I don't mind that, if that is what you are into that is fine. But I don't think that fits Malifaux, I think it cheapens the setting especially in light of the very powerful female personalities that dominate the game in an era where historically (at least in our time line) women were second class citizens. It is a sad truth, but the truth nonetheless. However Malifaux is also a game of horror and ugly realities that is unflinching in presenting adult themes to illustrate the dark underbelly of the setting. Sometimes those nightmares take the form of vicious female bird spirits that neither care if their nipples are showing nor have any real ability to make or attach pasties, and these creatures are summoned by mentally disturbed individuals who are interested in more important things than putting pasties onto a Shikome's nipples. This isn't cheesecake for the sake of cheesecake, these creatures really should have their nipples showing. It is odd that the game allows for showing Gremlin ass on a model but not nipples on a horrific female monster, and the solution is that clunky looking. That being said, apart from the pasties these models look like they have potential. I would be curious to see them in the flesh.
  12. Why pasties? I don't think it has to do with stupidity regarding Americans tolerating nightmare children, reanimated stitched together corpses, zombie drug pushing nurses, demons and the like but losing their minds over a nipple, even if it belongs to Janet Jackson. I think Seamus is just expanding his stable. He has zombie hookers, why not add in flying strippers too? Although the strippers would get better tips if they lost the stupid pasties.....
  13. Remember too that Gaining Grounds also only applies to tournaments that choose to use it, and that the proxy rules only apply if the con organizer chooses to use that section. There are no proxy police. If you play with friends or cool/understanding tournament organizers you can use whatever proxies you and your opponents agree to. Personally, I would let you use just whatever looks cool as long as I know what it is. Unfortunately you are correct about lack of availability of certain models outside of a crew box, but Wyrd was pretty hell bent on getting rid of metal figures and and seems to be pretty determined to only make certain models that are the only models guys who have metal models really need only available as part of a bigger crew box. We are pretty much stuck with it. Has very little to do with SKU management, accounts tend to care less about number of SKUs than they do about whether those SKUs sell.
  14. Now I am a bit curious about this. I am using a couple of models with Leap these days, and Leap specifically says you ignore intervening models and terrain. I was taking it that you didn't take into account the height of terrain as long as you ended your Leap on the ground (because you ignore intervening terrain). I assume you pounced/scampered/ran along the wall/whatever odd Malifaux logic was at work and you were done. By contrast I also assumed that if you wanted to land on top of a piece of terrain you did have to take into account vertical movement, as the terrain ceases to be intervening and instead becomes the destination- it is no longer between you and the destination of your Leap, it is the destination of your Leap. Does that make sense?
  15. The other thing to remember is that the old metal puppets are also compatible with Malifaux (as long as you put them on the right bases) and can be bought cheap. Most of the old metal puppets were pretty good looking models too. I have a couple of them that I bought, painted up, and added to my Malifaux collection. I actually prefer my painted metal Marcus puppet to my painted original version, and it is just fun to use the killer snowman Ice Golem puppet in place of the other sculpts!
  16. What I want to know is why doesn't my Francois have a sword?
  17. A word of warning about the Micro Art bases- I picked up a bunch of the cobblestone ones to use for my Outcasts and they were all noticeably undersized for the size they were supposed to be. They were very nice looking bases though, so if you and your opponents don't care if the bases are a few millimeters off then by all means use them! By contrast, I picked up some Fenris bases for my Collodi crew and they were all oversized. Again, a few millimeters here and there may not concern you. All of my Secret Weapon bases have been dead on target for sizes. In any case, I am sure your models will look fantastic!
  18. What a great little house! And seconded on the sentiment that GW quit making all of those great terrain sprues. I particularly miss the Mordheim ones, they were a fantastic resource for modelers.
  19. No, I didn't say noob, that people don't know what they are doing when they take him, that you can't adapt or he was an auto win button. I will say that El Mayor is a very powerful ability with an unusually long duration, and between Companion and general Family movement shenanigans it is very easy to stay within 2 inches of your target, especially if you time it so you have nearly two turns of El Mayor duration from the last application to apply it again. I would also point out that I never said he couldn't be killed....but I will say that with the auto-include Wade In upgrade he is literally Hard to Kill with a self heal as a (0) action, the ability to use Soulstones, and the option to instead use his (0) action for Finesse I would say he takes a disproportionately large amount of effort to get rid of him....and you have to get rid of him pronto to shut down that El Mayor nonsense. So yeah, he is a bit too good for being a 8 stone model, 9 with his practically mandatory upgrade. He is a bit too easy of a choice in many Guild crews because he makes things so much easier, a bit like training wheels. I think Papa Loco is good for a different thread, and the problems with summoners in smaller games has been well covered elsewhere, as have the problems with the mechanical rider. Winning tournaments is a meaningless measure. No need to jump to conclusions, I think you may have misread my earlier post to mean that I was whining that Frank was an "I win" button. He isn't, but he does need some toning down.
  20. I really like the smooth highlighting and shading that you pulled off on these models, and anyone that can neatly paint in a tartan skirt at this scale deserves respect. Well done!
  21. I like to play Rodians in Star Wars games. The name started when I used to play a bunch of capture the flag games online back when Jedi Knight 2 Jedi Outcast first came out. One of the skins you could download was a cool tattooed Sith Rodian, and one of the Sith powers you could use was Rage, and I thought The Raging Rodian had a cool ring to it. Rumors that I have been spotting raging in real life are grossly exaggerated. Lies and fabrications I tell you! By the way, this was a really cool idea for a thread. I have enjoyed reading everyone's stories.
  22. I always figured Francisco was like training wheels for Guild, much like the Mechanical Rider is for Arcanists. First time I played against El Mayor I had one of those "you have to be kidding me" moments. So it ends at the end of the turn, right? No? Really? So it ends if the model you give it to moves more than 2 inches away, right? No? Seriously it doesn't? At least it is a condition so you can use condition removal against it, right? Wait, that doesn't work either? There has to be a restriction on who you can give it to though, right? Wait, any friendly model? Does it really say that? El Mayor should have been a condition that ends at the end of the turn, that would have made Frank still worthwhile without setting a bad precedence in the game and keeping him from being a training wheels choice. Unfortunately, short of an errata we are pretty much stuck with it as it is.
  23. It is important to distinguish the difference between proportions and scale. Scale is the relative height of the model, both compared to a real person and to other models in the line. There is a little bit of variation that is normal here, accounting for different sizes of real people, and the various metal and plastic Malifaux humans are pretty much in scale to each other. Scale goes wrong though when models are obviously the wrong size, and this has happened in both the metal and plastic lines. The metal Effigies are obviously not in scale for being Ht 1 models (looking at you Hodgepodge!), and the new plastic Nekima is obviously the wrong size as she is the same height as a Ht 2 model despite being Ht 3. I don't know what happened with the metals as you can see before they are even molded, indeed as they are being sculpted, what size they are. Perhaps the Ht was changed after the model was accepted and produced? Not sure. Why we keep seeing errors with the plastic models have been well discussed elsewhere. Proportion is how accurate the individual parts of a model's body are to the rest of the model, as well as how their gear looks compared to the rest of the model. This is technically where you would start talking about heroic and realistic scaling, as you are really talking about whether (typically) the facial features, hands and wrists are exaggerated or not to make the features more recognizable at a distance and easier to paint, as well as making the final model's ankles and wrists less flimsy. Mistakes here would include the handful of female plastic models that have freakishly long legs compared to the rest of their body. You get into situations like we have with crouching models- they are obviously wrong compared to their standing peers. Now, are they wrong because their legs are the wrong sized compared to the rest of their body, making them look as tall as their standing fellows, or are they wrong because the entire model is too tall? Or you get a combo problem like with the original Amazon Viks box. The models themselves were too tall, meaning you had a scale mistake. However, on examination the Ronin also have legs that are too long for their bodies, meaning they also have a proportions mistake. Sadly, only the scaling mistake was fixed when the set was redone. You also had the weirdness of the giant Death Marshall. True, we were told that he wasn't a scaling mistake as he was supposed to be a really big guy. However, the model still looks wrong because all of his gear is not in proportion to the rest of his body- to really give him that massive look pieces of his gear should have been the same size as the gear carried by his buddies, lending authenticity to his hugeness. But everything is oversized, making the model look wrong by comparison.
  24. I am sorry to hear that you had so much trouble. It sounds like the experience that I had painting Yamaziko and the skull from the Waldgeists set- the details for the mouth and nose were nearly nonexistent. They were really annoying to paint. Just out of curiosity why didn't you just use the metal one? No need to proxy unless you just liked the model that you bought.
  25. Hey Soundwave, can you purchase a handle like that or was it custom made?
