  1. It might also be best to not do more than one layer of matte varnish. I have found more than a single, fairly thin layer tends to get glossy. Best technique I have used thus far is the layer or two of gloss followed by a layer of matte.
  2. I heard a lot of god things about the art and such... they were good, indeed. I was most interested in this asylum and the characters contained within. As usual, my complaint would be that it was too short and that it didn't occupy me for more than an evening...
  3. Good. I was just wondering myself if others were encountering this problem again. Glad to know it's not just me.
  4. Lunarsol beat me to the real reason they probably aren't listed: They have always be considered legal options for play. Logically, if Wyrd is going to say that tranparent and day-glo plastics are totally fine on the board unpainted, then 100% wyrd models that are sculpted to be the model in question (say, puppet executioner playing as an executioner) surely are allowed.
  5. I can not confirm as the store is down and I do not own a deck but I believe it only comes with one copy of each card (again, could be wrong). If you want to both be able to pick schemes and keep them hidden, I believe you will need two decks.
  6. Dirial makes some good points. Rarely is melee totally avoidable. It becomes a lot more manageable with some experience and gained knowledge. As mentioned above, knowing charge ranges and who to focus on softening up (and you are in the right faction and running the right crew for softening up) as they come at you. Also as you play a little more, you will know who functions well in melee, who can do ok in melee, and who wants to avoid melee. Once you know who can melee well, a common tactic I use is to throw someone to the wolves to distract the opponent (or tie them up in their own melee) while I accomplish scheme/strat. With the Ortegas, I would likely use Francisco or Perdita for this. Ultimately they may be lost but if they get me 3+ VP in their death, it's probably worth it. It sucks that my answer is kind of just "play a little more, you'll see how it works." But the knowledge game is kind of the long and short of it. You have a great crew to learn things like this with. Also, avoiding melee against Misaki is like being tied to the train tracks and asking how to not get hit. It's unavoidable in the end so it's best to just try and make it work in your favor.
  7. Soulless, you should receive a confirmation email about the order placed with an invoice.
  8. Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately, shipping is twice as expensive as the bag itself now.
  9. Omenbringer, you and I are maybe two of the most hopeful people for the return of terraclips (my group was just lamenting the inability to pick up more for a full second table worth). I have noticed something that may be a nail in the coffin: terraclips in the black friday sale. Now, it is just connectors and dungeon rise but it doesn't scream confidence in the product to be putting it at 50% off with the v1 stuff....
  10. I believe that it has been mentioned before that Wyrd is retooling all the early plastics (Which were heavily TT) so that the models are better laid out on the sprue. I don't have a source handy, but I really feel like I remember someone saying that.
  11. I want to make something clear as well: Despite the steam trunk being in (by my count) 33 pieces and being one of the most challenging models to put together properly, it was also a load of fun to put together because of that challenge. There are subtle clues on where everything goes on the model itself and it ends up being a little like a puzzle to solve in the end. So, in all honesty, I loved every moment of all that grumbling and cursing. Maybe I am just a little masochistic....
  12. This is actually quite a bit of the Malifaux gaming experience and where a lot of the fun comes from. Even within a faction there can be such wildly different styles amongst the masters that you never quite know what to expect. This is also where, as Jimbob said, a lot of the feeling of unbalance comes from. Getting train-wrecked by Collodi a dozen times sucks (especially when you don't stay alive long enough to see how to beat him). The community here is great and provides a ton of experience and advice if you ask. That's a thing I like about Malifaux: there is some homework involved.
  13. For a dollar, you got yourself a decent piece of terrain. Can't be mad about that. If anything, the challenge will make you better at adding detail to non-detail, right?
  14. I would say it is still probably worth it. A limited edition is a limited edition, there's still value there. You also have one of the earlier "Miss" models, so that is also cool. I wouldn't think it was a play value or monetary value thing (though, this model certainly is more rare than say, Miss Ery) but a rarity, limited edition value. Definitely a cool minor prize.
  15. If I remember correctly reaper is generally around 28mm scale... so a little smaller than Malifaux. Many of the models don't look out of place though and can even add a little variation. I mean, is every person you are around the exact same scale?
  16. How about just absinthe and Stroh. That sounds acceptable.
  17. This might be something you want to post in the "A Wyrd Place" facebook group as well. Hope you end up with some terraclips, I know I love my group's.
  18. I have never attempted this myself but I would try paint (or probably better, an ink) + glaze medium, myself. Does it actually have material for windows? I have never seen one of these in person.
  19. However, to add to what Spiraling Cadaver said, it will likely be a while. Open playtesting is supposed to be starting again in January of 2015. That will take a few months, followed by the digital release of post-playtesting "finalized" versions of the cards, followed by physical copies of the cards. Don't expect to see them before GenCon 2015.
  20. Found mine, it is in good condition (not even assembled, just tacked to a base). Shipping will be exorbitant it appears (Thanks, AMERICA.) I would buy from Marifaux, if I were you. Pointless response? Kinda. I just didn't want you to think I was a liar.
  21. I am always in awe of people who can paint quickly and well. Those models look fantastic! For my own future needs, what company manufactures the wood floor board bases?
  22. Those models look pretty damn good. Suggestion for the future: post up some pictures of single minis, I know I would love to see some of the details up close. And a question: What bases are the Lynch crew on? Home made or purchased?
  23. I know I have a jackalope at home. Let me take a look and see if I can find it/what condition it is in and get a rough estimate on shipping. I will try and remember to do all this tonight.
  24. Hahaha. No shame in using paint. If it gets the job done it gets the job done.
