  1. I don't see that as a strength at all when it comes to a Master. If a model doesn't pull its weight in SS then it's taken less. Your argument doesn't make sense either if you think about what was written, if the masters are essentially non-essential and you do well with a balanced crew than the Master choice wouldn't matter. Other than the totem(s), you can freely pick everything a Resser Yan Lo could pick with Kirai/Molly/etc. If you're not doing well with them and you are with Yan, then that directly points to Masters needing to be effective in some way enough to be "worth their SS"/picking them as a master. Furthermore, the ability to sacrifice a master to secure a win is not the purview of general masters alone either. I have (and will continue to) cheerfully tossed every Master I own into a meat grinder knowing the resources they tie up, kill, or objectives that needed cleared and the scheme runner engaged.
  2. Well, if you want the metals there's always this listing that has 3 in stock as of this posting. http://www.area51-d.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=26&products_id=2644
  3. This, sadly. I just bought Hamelin over the weekend because I found him and his crew on sale. Now I'm contemplating the new Viks for Ronin and Taelor and the old Viks for Bishop and Johan.
  4. It doesn't help that Gremlins are not as well repped in the field due to model shortage. With most people in the Beta disliking proxying more than a few models (to test powers + simple memory imo) slapping together an entire proxied crew was usually not the order of the day. I won't make an argument for/against their power level as a whole, but I do think the Ulix shot in the rear thing will get a bat to the face once it's in plastic if Lynch was anything to measure by (if damage fears were truly the reason behind that Cuddling).
  5. For my area, local metagame and all that, I do feel that he comes across as strictly a middle-lower master in the field. I win more than not by a comfortable margin, but it's his crew that does the heavy lifting and almost never Yan Lo himself. It probably wouldn't be as bad, as already mentioned, if his melee was a better option because he could be a very interesting bomb. Personally I think Brutal Kakakkara etc. should have made the melee attack a CA like the totems spear, or allowed for an option to discard some amount of Chi for a to melee and dmg flips because while he can be survivable when fully chi'd up his offense is not any better to a halfway prepared opponent. Instead I have wonderful memories of Yin and Izamu doing filthy things to win games. Fact is that it's just not superbly likely that I'll play an Ancestor dangerously enough to get killed sheerly for the reliquary. TL;DR Give Yan Lo some ascendent upgrade love to give him a bigger niche somewhere in the game. Call it a ghost strike that turns Melee attacks up a notch or something for like 2 Chi.
  6. I love that model Paradigm. Seriously thinking of ripping off that idea and maybe get a head re-sculpt in to bring the pyramid more in line.
  7. I think for 20 pts either of these lists will work well. Hungering Darkness +Addict 1ss The Depleted 4ss The Illuminated 7ss The Illuminated 7ss Hungering Darkness Waldgeist 6ss The Illuminated 7ss The Illuminated 7ss Either way you have some hard hitting models in the shape of Illuminated, with staying power in either list. Tactics are limited in turf war, but if they get close have Huggy walk people into an embrace of Illuminated, bad terrain from Waldgeists, or close enough to give Brilliance to (making the Illuminated killers in this scenario). At 30 pts you finally get to breathe a little with Lynchs crew.. That list gives you a re-useable missile in the form of Huggy combined with a ranged option to get brilliance on enemies (Lynch) and then improve the attacks against said models even further for the entire crew. If you want to expand to the control side of things instead of straight killerbot9000, then swap Rising sun on Jakob for Endless Hunger. That gives better terrifying and an extra control AP to boot. What a list at 40 pts might look like. At 40 points Squatter's Rights might just turn into more killing. I'd swap out the depleted for yet another Illuminated and Waldgeist. Hans will probably be given a serious look around this time so keep Lynch near a Waldgeist or so to make it harder to Ping any of his upgrades off and/or seriously consider sending Huggy on a death mission to wipe him out being incorporeal he should be able to catch him and seriously Huggy + Illuminated is a scary tag team to have in your face. At 50 I think it's time to bring the board control full circle. At this point the Waldgeists probably can be trimmed back since we're bringing in Tannen and Graves. Huggy also goes back to his controller version rather than re-useable missile. This gives you a healthy SS pool (not something Jakob excessively needs though) and eight models, five of which are more than adequate at combat, a few ranged attacking models, some manipulation through Tannen along with his debuffing, movement shenanigans with the Waldgeist and Graves, penultimately you should have learned by now how Lynch can manipulate the cards to the best effect, while ultimately Huggy has his Terrifying and strong manipulation of the enemy forces. If you want still yet more options, toss the last 4 ss into the ring and buy a depleted to do suicidal things. fin
  8. I think the "may instead" indicates it should be played as option B. We certainly play that way here, but I don't much mind as the one playing against/for Pandora in this case which of the two the opponent would like to play since Pandy isn't one of my "super serial" masters the way I play her.
  9. They'd be pretty in line with the other gamin if they simply couldn't target themselves. Not that there'd be too many terribly upset about taking more, but it would force them to somewhat group up then.
  10. Pretty much how Games Workshop did some Fantasy Chaos tree thing waay back in the day (wire skeleton + apoxie sculpt to make the rest of the body). I do recall them having to dremel the apoxie sculpt to create wood grooves so maybe that's an option for you or not, but the stuff is fairly cheap all things considered.
  11. If you don't mind the Injun Joss model then Amazon and ebay/various places has him singularly. You'll need the M2E card but then I'm sure someone has a spare card in the card trading thread you can buy/trade for.
  12. Completely forgot to post that I got my miniatures from SuperFly TNT perfectly on time and in great shape (Canada to US).
  13. I like Tragedy Looper, but it's a bit much to get your head wrapped around the first few times at least. Afterwards it's Clue with a time-traveling set of protags against an antagonist. XD
  14. The only metals I have been unable to find to buy without any decent chance of success/near retail price have been the Widow Weaver, the #1 Austringer, and Coryphee. I have seen everything else for sale, though as OOP it is first come first serve. P.S. And LEs, I guess, but that's makes sense on availability.
  15. Once again, metals are out there if you want to put the effort in to look. I'll knock Wyrd for not having some models, or not selling things like Vasilisa separately, but almost everything you guys are listing is out there in metal. Is it pretty or plastic or even coming with up-to-date cards? Nope. Come on though, that's far from being unplayable. Hell I just watched a Kirai player on Saturday summon a ton of spirits. He lost to Misaki, but he had plenty of models for just starting (enough to summon like three crews).
  16. I think the variety in Masters/models and the playstyles they have is the biggest boon and issue facing Malifaux from a newcomer perspective. Fortunately, I think that's the initial hurdle many of us with multiple masters can help new players with most easily. To simplify it, the game is in a state where changing a single master will drastically change the way the game is played so helping newer players find their favorite(s) is the best way to get feet on the ground on the other side of the breach.
  17. Never left the enslaved neph at home when I take Perdita. It's as auto a buy for her as is Trick Shooting.
  18. This is a good outlook. The average player more likely to stick with a game if you get some sort of fun out of playing (usually friendlier masters) or even win given the rate of liking to win : just getting in for the models.
  19. Trying to force anyone to accept that one choice over the other is completely without logic is just going to make you look like a donkey Bengt. I get that you don't like the NA approach but there's loads of logic supporting it, just like there's loads of logic against the Euro outlook. However, the reverse is true to a degree. All the locations have ups/downs, if it was clear cut one or the other then it wouldn't have led to this much speculation. Also for the record, I like the Australia approach. That one would have made so much more sense if they had drop bears and spiders in Malifaux models. I would also love for Africa to be a breach, but that's just because I'm a Darkest Heart of Africa sort of fan and the game thusfar hasn't really done much (none to my knowledge) or their very interesting magics and mythical monsters.
  20. Given the old convo I am fairly certain it's in NA, but no sense arguing about it when people want their own places to be the 'correct' answer. Plus, we really are basing it off speculation that Malifaux shares our history which may be completely topsy-turvy. Fwiw, there's more than one breach now, so multiple avenues of crossing the barrier are around and left up to our minds ti imagine up some fluff!
  21. Usually by the time they die from their own wounds they have made enough of a dent in the enemy force to have made the gambit worthwhile.
  22. On that note, if people want the old models... There are sites around with them.
  23. Stitched are a crutch for me, It's just so much easier just flipping a single card for damage than worrying about negatives. Although, when it rebounds right back at them, then it's equally painful. So a crutch that's a big gamble to lean on I guess.
