  1. Also, @rancor709 has already started a tOS podcast you can listen to if you're a podcast consumer. See Joe?! ADVERTISING. You're welcome! http://coordinatedstrikepodcast.podbean.com/e/coordinated-strike-episode-1-lists-to-get-you-started/ ENinja
  2. I'm going to go with deep sea and amphibian creatures: For instance Spotted skulkers I think are going to be like poison dart frogs. Karkinoi I'm hoping to do like mantis shrimp. This game is going to make me learn to airbrush... O_O
  3. Opens up hiring restrictions, and frees up an upgrade slot. Nothing beast can now stone to prevent, and gets another upgrade, giving him more longevity and flexibility.
  4. Right? We as community organizers can make sure to remind/inform people when this stuff comes out, and help new players get 'caught up' when new information is presented in the crews they select. I'm pumped about many of these changes! (And the ones I'm not pumped about is because I don't play or play against the things, so I don't have any feelings about it).
  5. If you're really looking to emphasize a Toshiro Summoning list I would look at the following models: Obsidian Oni (Shifting Loyalties). They drop scrap when they hit with the CA action that can shoot into melee. The trigger is built in. Mechanized Porkchop (Shifting Loyalties): They drop a scrap after taking a walk once per turn. You can get two scrap in key positions on turn one without needing any resources. I've done it before, I think it was likely a reconoiter game or something. It's pretty good, though it'll never hold up to a ramos or a nico. Not flexible enough, and without the extra AP you'll find yourself getting stuck in a "Do I move or do I summon" quagmire. ENinja
  6. I really want to see a Mei with Sparks vs. Colette fight. Sparks' "Hostile Work Environment" looks real good against prompt. ENinja
  7. Fair Point. Redundancies are redundant. ENinja
  8. I've been really into trying it... I am even thinking about just magnetizing my Dawn Serpant so the 40mm base can click into a 50mm blank... The things that look most exciting to me are McCabe- Getting an extra McCabe upgrade to chuck around, and another model able to cast take this seems really good. I'm also excited about all the different auras... I think it's really well designed- "What master are you playing? Need poison? Burning? We got you." So, Mei would be fun. Might be hard to find points in a Brewie crew, the way I play him. A lot of promise there, though, yeah. ENinja
  9. There's one Black Sheep that's Guild only, Master Queeg can only be hired into thunders as a McCabe player. ENinja
  10. I hate to say it out loud, but I think double austringers is a trap. Then again, I think core lists are a trap. There are very few schemes or strats where they'll be bad, but to go into a game thinking, "Okay, I have 33 stones to play with after glowing saber, badge of speed, promises, and two austringers"is limiting. Again, I'm not saying that I don't usually take one. There have been games where I didn't and I wish I had. But there have been games where I did and ended up thinking, "You know... a thunders brother right here would've been great..." Food for thought. Eninja
  11. I gave an expiremental jetpack to an ice golem. 0 action leap, fly through the air, 3ap SMAAAAASH.
  12. You can only relent on an opposed duel with a friendly model. We got a page number for that? It's one I've heard a couple times, and it'd be nice for something to point to. ENinja
  13. The way we played was you could hire what you want so long as it was 20 stones, and you ended up with 4 models. I'd never heard the one hench rule. :/ ENinja
  14. Maybe if there was a way for Toshi to summon 'em... Hm. Yeah. I like the illuminated a lot. The zombies may be better at hitting, but they die quickly. They have hard to kill so maybe with a low river Yu to keep 'em up? Or something like that? Yeah, I haven't tried 'em. Mostly 'cuz I don't own any, I've played against them quite a bit, tho. ENinja
  15. Depends on the schemes and strats. If it's relatively killy, I'll go Mei Feng with some support (also, Misdirection on Mei... mmm) If It's pretty interact-ee, I'll go with Brewmaster. He can make the people holding the center pretty crappy, and late in the turn wesly activations can turn into obeys out of the scoring area. Or Sensei Yu Pushes. Or lone swordsman kills. Or... Yeah, those are mine. Though, Shen Long is also a good one- I suppose if it's a lot of scheme markers specifically, I may go with Shen Long instead.
  16. Yup. I've had that set up. Two drinking contest auras and a Tannen to make it hurt. I find Yu is beneficial for pushing a DC'd brewmaster into a group of enemies, so he doesn't have to spend his AP walking. Just DC, then Swill x3 or an obey or something, then Pushed into place for optimal Contests. ENinja
  17. I guess you could say... I stole your Thunder.
  18. Huh. Can't believe no one has mentioned Toshiro. I've had this conversation with Dan34J a lot- how do you stop a ressur. Especially a summoning ressur. The easy answers are to pressure the masters with bodily harm, and destroy the hand/deny resources. We have some great models for that- If you play Lynch, you can bring Stitched that make people drop cards which can be good. Kang has been mentioned. Same thing with Sidir, if you're going for a reckoning type crew, as anything with an upgrade gets plusflips to ML (for killin') and WP (For terrifying checks). But the number one thing I like to do is take something that can eat corpses. Specifically, Toshiro. He can discard a corpse to give out focus (which is great, as mentioned earlier, for dealing with hard to wound), or if you take his command the graves upgrade, you can turn their resources against them. I mean, you're not going to out attrition the real summoning masters, but being able to bring in a model that's pretty close to enemies that can discard a card for a 1ap charge? Nothing' to sneeze at. Same goes for arcanists. No scrap, no spiders.
  19. Yeah, the infinite loop does one of two super douchey things that, were I a tournament organizer I would call out for being intention slow play. So long as you have the black joker in your hand. You can continue to cast rail walk against the scrap he dropped. Which means either you can conceivably do the action over and over (and over and over) until you've set up your deck to have just the cards you want in it. The odds are so stupid, you'd never be able to get there, so it's stupid dumb. The second thing you can technically do is do it over and over and over, and just keep flipping forever when would mean, so long as you have a one point lead you could run out the clock. That's such a crappy thing to do to a person, and such a departure from the nature of not just malifaux, but game play in general. I wouldn't do this to my friends. I wouldn't do this to a person in a tournament. I don't care about stakes- it's just silly to say, "Whelp. I got turf war in turn two, you didn't that'll put me at 1-0. I guess I'll just rail walk for an hour and a half." So... is it broken? Perhaps. Is it an exploit? Sure. Is it something that I believe anyone in our community would do? I really hope not....
  20. Yes, I've heard tell of people having Yu airburst himself. Not a thing. He has to disengage just like everyone else. Or... push them out of engagement. ENinja
  21. Ooohhh, I love that Samurai Ace Digging tech. I'm gonna have to give that one a go. I've data mined the hell out of all of the "Here's fun ways to use aces", but hadn't thought about ways to find them besides fire and forget 0's like the ten thunders bro, and the illuminated. I also like Kang in those kind of lists, especially if you're facing Arcanists or ressurs. Rolling in on a large arachnid with a Rail Worker, inside Kang's bubble with a free implacable assault. That's double pos to attack, and a double pos to damage on all attacks. And on a cheaper minion to boot.
  22. See that's the problem, sometimes you DO have to come at it from this direction. Save for, like... Reckoning? Is there a strategy that you want to go to Lynch for on the regular? I don't know who, in thunders, I want to run for Recconoiter or Interference. Either. But, like... Can't finish a sentence. Let's try a list. Turf War/Guard the Stash/Extraction: Mei Feng beats people up and likes enemies withing push and striking distance. Brewmaster loves it when people have to go to a certain place to count. Yan Lo is great at pulling people out of the turf marker, and putting himself in it. Nice little switcheroo. Recon/Interfere: Lucas McCabe has the speed to re-route into weaker quarters on the fly. As does Mei. Shen Long can support a crew that is a little spammy by giving them more bang for their defensive buck, or pass healing around to friendlies that have been softened up. Squatters Rights/Stake a Claim Lucas McCabe again IMO, though perhaps Shen Long. His (and Sensei Yu's) ability to give models more mobility out of activation means you can potentially create a lot more markers on the other side of the table, or rush center for squatters. Reckoning/Head Hunter/Collect the Bounty Mei Feng is pretty tough, as are her crew members. Lucas McCabe can get pretty killy, and can also support a more elite crew full of murderous folk. This is where I would slot Lynch, if given the chance, as his support to/from his crew are mostly in the form of "This is on the enemy..... MOAR DAMAGE!" I'm still pretty new to putting Lynch on the table, and maybe there are strengths that I'm missing.
  23. I think this is why I'm so excited about playing him with McCabe- He gets the extra push from take this, and the extra nimble from Badge. He can also then ramp up others with Take this, and his two pushes.
  24. Someone suggested Hair. Specifically "Why not use the hair from the bishop model. "That's what I don't like about the bishop model..." "Then put that head on the bishop model..." I don't know what I'll end up doing... maybe give him a hat, and maybe replace right hand to have a weapon instead of a chain or something... ENinja
