MrDeathTrout
Wastrels seem to be a collection of cool, yet unrelated abilities. Do they have a specific purpose I'm missing? Or is that that point and McCabe gives them a purpose with upgrades? What do people typically use them for?
zFiend
With McCabe if even with McCabe.
BigHammer
4 SS for a shooting attack with built-in positive flips on a Ruthless model is a decent filler model.
LunarSol
They were strictly better than Guild Guard (like many things) so they got smacked to be better in line with Guild Guard.

Tapdancer
Card cycling and +1 damage when they use the sabre. What's not to like.
DrillbossD
Going to try them a bit with Lynch at some point. Hitting the right Ace early in the game should give them a repeatable purpose and stacking more healing with the tanky models he likes could be nasty. BigHammer
There is no "right ace" for the Wastrels. They can discard *any* card to get *any* suit, and Cast-Offs needs a 6 to succeed. You want to look at Ten Thunder Brothers for that. The Wastrels will settle for any ace in a Lynch crew, but of course cannot benefit from having an upgrade attached to them at any point for card draw. These interactions get better ever time I read them more closely. So Wastrels are any for any, while Hans is discard *that* one to add *that* suit. Great to know! EDIT: So with the TT brothers, you just cheat the required Ace in all day erry day?
Trample
They aren't bad healers for the price. Cast offs gets you the flat 2 point heal that will occasionally get a nice trigger and one they can control with Bravado. Sure it's a (2) but it isn't bad for a 4 point model. Rurouni Benshin
EDIT: So with the TT brothers, you just cheat the required Ace in all day erry day? Exactly. So long as you don't flip Black Joker on the initial flip, you can always cheat in with the Ace you need, and pick it back up. Usually you don't need more than a couple of Aces, for the situational benefits. My favorites are and . Another tactic with the Ace drop is for TT Archers to Rapid Fire. And lastly, if your opponent is bringing models that can trigger Assassinate on their attacks, having a couple of Aces in hand is very useful to prevent it.
DrillbossD
My favorite modules so far for that are TT Archers with Sidir as babysitter (going to try Fuhatsu as well) since all can use the Aces. Hans is also a total mensch when you get the Ace in question. I bet adding a Wastrel to the Sidir/Fuhatsu Blot the Sky module would make it really hardy, especially if you get the Tome so it can heal and shoot. Rurouni Benshin
They're definitely a couple of good Henchmen that can take advantage of that. Best part of using Lynch in this case is that his Hungering Darkness is still a 0 cost Henchman as well. And with models as big as Fuhatsu and Sidir blocking LOS to your TT Archers, they can comfortably sit behind them, Focus if able, and shoot at the end of the turn with Blot the Sky. EntrepeNinja
...if your opponent is bringing models that can trigger Assassinate on their attacks, having a couple of Aces in hand is very useful to prevent it. While this is true, don't forget the reading on it is "When an ace, would be placed... during another friendly model's activation". So, while having them to drop vs. decapitate, or assassinate or any of those would still be helpful, you won't be seeing them come back at the end of the activation. Fetid Strumpet
Wastrels are the raw materials from which Belles are grown. That's all they're for.

EntrepeNinja
They can tell you don't like them. Just like anything in the game- you get what you pay for. They've got a decent Sh, decent flexibility with their ability to discard cards for suits, and their 2 action that can heal and... But they're only 4 stones, and not a ton of wounds left in the wind, they fold like paper.
ArcticPangolin
True. False. Sue has that honor. Negative. It's close, but Sue costs twice as many points and does not have twice the number of quality name abilities.

Sklertic
Sue is many times better on the table, so you'll actually say the abilities out loud more often. Sue wins. Don't argue, or i'll see you in Reno. Bring a gun.
ArcticPangolin
Americans and their guns. Real men fight with Gang Weapons. One Sue gets one activation. Two Wastrels often get three activations, and many more opportunities to say their abilities. And then he just strolled away...
