Omenbringer
Can't help but notice the Steam Trunk totem looks like it could possibly be separated from the main sprue.
LunarSol
I assembled my steam trunk slightly wrong sadly. I swapped the front and back panels of the chest, missing the little detail to line them up. You have to know the model fairly well to notice, but its definitely something to be careful about. Math Mathonwy
Thank you so much for another fantastic unboxing! Much appreciated! They aren't identical to the metal versions, but really super similar. Weird. It's Freikorps, btw, not Friekorps
Loveless
Can't help but notice the Steam Trunk totem looks like it could possibly be separated from the main sprue. That shouldn't be surprising - that's how Wyrd lays out their sprues for their crew boxes. Hell, Von Schill could be separate, too. Same could be said of any non-duplicated crew box choice in the M2E plastic crews - you could sell the Poltergeist, Kade, Candy, and Pandora all separately, for instance, given their sprue layout. --- My notes from that unboxing are: Well, Von Schill, we know you're a M2E Master now - your totem is absurdly over-sized for its base. Omenbringer
I seem to recall that not all plastic crew boxes have been laid out for easy individual model separation should the need or desire arise. I do agree though that the Steam Trunk totem is a bit large, at least the other models seem to be scaled consistently.
Bengt
I seem to recall that not all plastic crew boxes have been laid out for easy individual model separation should the need or desire arise. I do agree though that the Steam Trunk totem is a bit large, at least the other models seem to be scaled consistently. The 1.5 plastic crew boxes (i.e. the Ten Thunder masters) have everything on one sprue. The M2E boxes have sub frames. The trunk looks ridiculous, at least the Skeeters look ok with flight bases, but nothing can help this travesty. --- The neck of the last Freikorpsmann looks freakishly long, is the head fitted properly? Math Mathonwy
Well, Von Schill, we know you're a M2E Master now - your totem is absurdly over-sized for its base. :D The neck of the last Freikorpsmann looks freakishly long, is the head fitted properly?I think he's an engineer:http://i.ytimg.com/vi/gvdf5n-zI14/maxresdefault.jpg
zFiend
Well, Von Schill, we know you're a M2E Master now - your totem is absurdly over-sized for its base. Hahaha he might be over compensating something.
MasterDisaster
Nah, I think his over compensation comes from the absurd amount of healing his crew can dish out! Still, even though I own the metals I'll probably buy the plastics as well. Having 2 Trappers and Librarians will be fun and that Steam Trunk though! Yes it's ANOTHER damn totem that doesn't fit on the base properly but it's too good to not own one! Von Schill's pose looks really awkward though. I mean what the hell is he aiming at with his gun? Perhaps he's shooting Malifaux's pidgeons? It would only take a small amount of effort to sculpt some new hands so he's doing vigorous jazz hands with that pose! Mason
You have to be very careful to avoid assembling the Steam Trunk incorrectly. The wheels have notches in them that you have to get lines up, for instance, and I ended up putting the Freikorps suit inside facing the wrong direction on its flat base, which was just a pain to correct. baskinders
Has anyone else got a set of C. Hoffman crew stat cards in their Von Schill box instead of Von Schill's, or did I just get the lucky prize?
Mason
Von Schill with mine! That's the sort of thing you might want to contact Wyrd over to get the correct cards.
zFiend
Has anyone else got a set of C. Hoffman crew stat cards in their Von Schill box instead of Von Schill's, or did I just get the lucky prize? I think it was intended as an encouragement to buy another crew hoping you'll get the Von Schill cards, you might not though, it's the new cereal box strategy. Serious note, contact Wyrd
Arachas
Thanks for posting this one and your other reviews! Helped me pick a crew.
daniello_s
Great job again, Gmort. As for models - I have a strange feeling that I prefer old metal ones...
VeZuri
Hmmm... I hope Wyrd will eventually sell the Steam Trunk as a separate model. I don't have use for a third Librarian/Trapper/Specialist or fifth and sixth Freikorpsman, much less a skipping, pidgeon-shooting duplicate of Von Facewrecker x3 In all reality I'll probably have to convert the Trunk, but a man can dream~
MasterDisaster
In all reality I'll probably have to convert the Trunk, but a man can dream~ Indeed, given Wyrd have stated in the past it's incredibly unlikely it or any other master specific totem or model will be sold separately so get your creative juices flowing and convert / proxy one. The Discworld range of miniatures have a great little Luggage that could serve are the base for a good conversion.
Omenbringer
Just be sure to include 67% Wyrd parts in that conversion or you wont be able to use it in "Official" Gaining Grounds tournaments.
Math Mathonwy
Just be sure to include 67% Wyrd parts in that conversion or you wont be able to use it in "Official" Gaining Grounds tournaments.I suggest building an extra version out of sprue parts and using that if someone complains - I mean, it's a box, you can build a box out of sprue parts
VeZuri
Just be sure to include 67% Wyrd parts in that conversion or you wont be able to use it in "Official" Gaining Grounds tournaments. Not much of a tournament player myself (I don't even know if there are any official tournaments here in Finland) and if I were to participate I'd probably take either Guild or 10T. My Outcasts are for more casual kitchentable play, so I think I'll be fine even if I can't make my conversion "tournament legal". =P But for those who are thinking of converting a Steam Trunk AND are tournament players, Omenbringer's advice is quite sound. Well we do tournaments in Finland on occasions and we are just glad if people join up so we're not that into following the 67% rule
Vermicious Knid
Just be sure to include 67% Wyrd parts in that conversion or you wont be able to use it in "Official" Gaining Grounds tournaments. Unlikely, given that the TO has final say over any and all conversions. And considering that most steam trunk conversions are probably going to still look like...a steam-powered trunk, I really don't think there will be any confusion as to what the model represents. No TO I have ever met would disallow a reasonable conversion like that
daemonkin
Yeah this isn't <INSERT EVIL MINIATURE COMPANY OF CHOICE> and as TO I would certainly not rule the Luggage as can't be used for Steam Trunk. D.
Omenbringer
This requirement is from Wyrds Official Gaining Grounds tournament documentation not something I made up. A TO can choose not to enforce it however he can also justifiably choose to enforce it. Other players could also justifiably complain about such things to preclude the models use (competitive events tend to bring out the worst in people).
