  1. The game is balanced right now with focused as is. Any changes will require huge rebalancing. 1. There is a lot of sources of [-] to hit, especially against ranged attacks: concealment, friendly fire, manipulative, serene countenance, distracted condition etc. For most ranged non-master models "walk-concentrate" turn one is the only way to have a chance of at least one successful attack turn two, because most of times you need to reposition (walk) and then try to shoot something in concealment. 2. Almost 16% of models in the game have hard to wound. Without focused chances of a straight damage flip against them will be very low (even with focused it's a single negative most of time). And don't forget a [-] to damage from cover. 3. Focused can be used defensively. It is a good source of survivability for models with average DF and it is a great way to keep your key model alive without good cards in hand.
  2. Ophelia, Zoraida and Somer have enough cheap actions to hit Bokor and give him all glowy in the world for any suits you need.
  3. I think this is not the best way to spend 2 extra stones. A Bayou Gremlin that will stay next to Bokor and kick it twice each turn for fast and 2 glowie is better. You'll need at least one Bokor's action to heal back after it was hurt to get fast. Also you'll need to keep something cheap close to Bokor to benefit from Bully. So you get 10 free suits (2 per turn) for 4 stones (2ss upgrade and 2ss bayou gremlin to heal). We don't have many good cheap support models so the chances to obey something with a free suit are very low. And this means that Bokor stays in backline for all 5 turns and doesn't heal our brave boys in the frontline. I think in real game Bokor will not get more than 3-4 free suits from Bully.
  4. When something ignores restrictions, it is specially mentioned in wording of action/trigger/ability. This trigger doesn't say, that you can ignore "once per activation" restriction of Herd'em. You can declare it anyway, but action will fail on step 3 (targeting). The same happens if you declare this trigger, but the new model is out of range or LOS.
  5. No. The new model is treated as the old one for purposes of all once per activation/turn restrictions.
  6. Landon (Yan Lo) WIN vs Aleksandar (Shenlong) 6-4 Taylor (Sandeep) TIE vs Scoffer (Zoraida) 6-6 Nathan (Titania) LOSS vs Domin (Titania) 3-5
  7. That's not true. The FAQ says, that once per activation effects can be used only during steps C1-C4 of Activation phase and can't be used during start/end phase (FAQ 1.12) ¡A POR EL! and the action it generates are resolved at step C4, because it has the same timing ("after this model ends it's activation") as Accomplice and Companion abilities that trigger a Chain Activation.
  8. It's A. New actions, generated by actions, are resolved after all other effects of the initial action (Rulebook p.34).
  9. Team Russia #2 vs. Northern Moose Infantry Viktor (Bayou Zipp) 3:6 Alexander Backström Sälldin (Neverborn Lucius) Aleksander (Shenlong) 1:5 Andreas Söder (Von Schtook) Anton (Neverborn Zoraida) 4:2 - Andreas Åden (Nellie) Thanks for great games and good luck in semi-final!
  10. 3. It is not a damage flip, it's just a flip, made instead of attack's normal effects. That's why it will not be affected by any damage modifiers like hard to wound or focused.
  11. The rule of intent can't be used retroactively: you should declare your intent first and make sure, that your intent is clear to your opponent (and he agrees that it's possible to do the intented). I use it rather often in two circumstances: 1. I want to hide a 30mm base from 30mm behind another 30mm. 2. I want to place a model exactly X" away from something (like in your example with 2" and blast) or exactly not within X". When it is clear that it's possible to do the intented, it saves a lot of time.
  12. This list doesn't look stronger than any other Dreamer&Master list. Zoraida is not that dangerous without swampfiends. A good gunline will be fine against this.
  13. I confess I've not that much experience with double masters, and I've never lost to them (outside the Viks), but I also have never played anything that felt as strong as when I did Dreamer/Zoraida. Do you have any comments on that specifically? I haven't seen this on the table, but combinations of Dreamer with other Neverborn masters (Dreamer+Titania, Pandora+Dreamer+Titania) are quite popular in my meta. Those are strong, but not stronger, than a well-built single Zoraida list. In my last three tournament games vs Neverborn I had 2 wins (Mah vs Marcus+Titania, Zipp vs Dreamer+Titania) and 1 draw (Ophelia vs Pandora+Titania+Dreamer). In fact, the only truly broken master combo I've seen was Collodi+Zoraida, but now we allow DMH masters as single leaders only and everything is fine.
  14. Malifaux is a very complex game, so one can't simply take a good list from the forum and win. "Ultimate" lists are usually more complicated than just "take good models to do what they are good at". Deep understanding of how this list works (why was it built this way, when should it be taken etc) is required to get success. Power level of double master is overrated (mostly by people with little experience with and against them). My meta allowed double masters from the very beginning of open beta, and the more we play - the more I see high skilled players successfully running single master lists.
  15. I don't know how it works, but Spawn Mother ond Gupps attract enemy attention. Every time I put them on the table, my opponent spends a lot of actions to kill them. And it's very good 🙂 I did it only once and it saved me a scoring model. This is not something to build a plan on, but it can be useful.
  16. Public Enemies - Ophelia/Mah. They are both great at killing things, but Ophelia is a bit tankier. Symbols of Authority - Zoraida/Zipp. Outstanding mobility and stealth/concealment. Recover Evidence - Ophelia/Ulix. I like to play "heavy summoning" Ulix lists- 5 starting non-master models stay in deployment with their tokens, while summoned pigs do the job. It's also very effective to take a couple of Piglets and put them down to 1 health to drop evidence markers in deployment before growing them up. Corrupted Ley Lines - Lucky Emissary. It can score strategy, while the rest of your crew (regardless of keyword) plays schemes and denies enemy VP.
  17. It's in "This or that" section of Rulebook - if you can't discard upgrade, you must discard a card.
  18. This one is correct. Initial target never suffers damage from blasts.
  19. Silurid has Onslaught on it's attack so it's up to 4 attacks with stat 5 and 2/3/4 damage with 13" threat range. It is threatening enough for most schemerunners. Adze has higher stat and built-in poison (which is very good), but it's only 3 attacks from 8" or 2 attacks from 11".
  20. I think Juju needs too much babysitting to be a good option. It needs stones, it needs attention of your healers (bokors/serena) to stay alive, it needs at least one action of Zoraida most of time. And with all that resources spent it scores very little VP (
  21. Got this issue with Build 1.1.9. New setups disappear after I close the app. Old ones (created a month ago and earlier) are ok, I edited one, restarted the app - it's still there.
  22. I never hire Adze, just because a Silurid can do almost everything better, costs less and has Stealth. Lure is not that important in Zoraida crew - double Obey from 25" distance is enough to break enemy positioning. Adze can be a situational counter pick, when you expect enemy models with Laugh Off: it can quickly Lure such a model, while it is surrounded by other enemy models, and use Quicksand trigger to make the whole enemy crew pass high TN or get slow. This can be a painful surprise, but don't expect it to work twice. The main problem of Adze (and Wisp as well) is that it doesn't have Stealth and the rest of useful swampfiends do. So it automatically becomes the fire magnet, when there is no other targets for enemy shooters, and has no chances to survive.
  23. You can hire models that have your leader's keyword regardless of faction. So Outcast Jack can hire both Outcast and Resser Tormented.
  24. I'm a big fan of Francois, but if the table has a lot if concealing terrain, or you want to save more stones for Zoraida, Raphael is a good option. If you feel lucky, make him fast with Zoraida twice - it will drop him down to half health and switch on his Grit. Raphael's long-range gun with [+] to attack and damage flips can be deadly. And with Htk he has a good chance to live long enough to get healing from bokor. Another beater that works well with Zoraida is Lenny. He is a perfect target for Obey, because he has +1 to all duels outside of his activation. And don't forget about Alphonse. High damage track, 2" engagement range, easy access to nice triggers and damage reduction. P.S. If you don't want to win the game, but want to have fun, take Lenny in Ghillie Suit, Alphonse and make them play dumb tennis with the Emissary, tossing it to each other through enemy models.
