  1. A case in point: Phiona Gage's (1) "Command Stone" Tactical Action, which places a 50mm Stone Pillar marker that is blocking, impassable, hard cover terrain.
  2. That's a nice idea. I actually prefer the new plastic Hamelin without that cloud on the front, so that'd work. See - it's good to think outside the box, right? :-) Thanks, @Azrrael
  3. TL; DR - Rami's just a bit of fun, but can be ludicrous "high-risk, moderate-reward", if you feel so inclined as to base a build around him. While I agree with all the above (ie, if you want a stand-alone sniper, go for Hans, McTavish or a Freikorps Trapper), I have a soft-spot for Rami as the Glowy target in a just-for-fun Wong build: Wong - Ooo, Glowy Rami - Dirty Cheater Lenny Old Cranky Slop Hauler/Lightning Bug There goes 27 stones, and it's horribly inefficient - all those models just hanging around for Rami's benefit - but you're guarantying a 36" focused shot every turn, delivering a 3/7/9 spread ignoring Armor, HtK & Incorporeal. It means that Rami is taking 4 damage himself if he hits severe, but even on moderate he's doing enough there to take out many middle-cost models in one shot. And he's got his heal, the Slop Hauler, Dirty Cheater and Regeneration to help with that. I've only used it on one occasion, so I really can't recommend it as such, but it was a fun experience. To just head-shot a 6-8ss model from across the table, first activation - hilarious. And a little shocking to your opponent, I must say. Unless they deploy fully out of LoS, of course, but there's usually something that gets deployed out in the open . Reduce their activations by 1, straight off! And once their Ml threats reach you, Lenny & the Slop Hauler ain't too bad together, and Cranky gives out to Df. In that game, I had Lilith charge Rami (he lived), but then she got her face smashed by the Slop Hauler reducing her Df to 4, and Lenny just hitting her over a couple of turns. Lenny can also chuck all the Ht1 models to reposition them. Can make for an interesting experience for your opponent So yeah - I think Rami is a corner-case pick (I wouldn't have had anything to do with him first turn if the board hadn't had gaping big lines of fire through it, for instance). I think he could be improved by adding a (0) upgrade that adds a couple of triggers to his shot. Something like: "Got ALL them Kneecaps", to cause Slow "What a Kick", to knock the target back a 3" push after damaging. "I'm Jammed!', to end his Activation immediately.
  4. Thanks for that, @Mrbedlam. I've got to say, I do love the Ashes & Dust model, and it's a pretty psychotic 13 stones worth of ability. Maybe I can stretch this self-imposed "theme" limitation just a little bit... ;-)
  5. Just bought the Hamelin box, since I'm loving the idea of the Blight mechanic. I don't have any other Outcasts at the mo, so can you seasoned pro's please point me in the right direction? A few requests: - I'm not getting into Hamelin for rat-bombs/Ratjoy, or any other mass activation control . I just really like his theme, and the idea of Blight - I'm a Brewmaster player, so I realise that the obvious playstyle isn't necessarily the best, or even completely functional (Brewy's Poison & Drinking Contest, Hamelin's Blight?) - I'm not too worried about going for big beaters like A&D, Desolation Engine & Killjoy. I'd like to stay in theme (if any of those actually are in theme tho, please fill me in!) - with that in mind, are the Winged Plague of any use?? I plan on getting some Crooligans, and I have Iggy, it might take me a while to get Baby Cade & Candy - I'll grab the Brotherhood of the Rat box, of course! Thanks!!
  6. Nahhhh. Lady J will hand Nicodem over to Sonnia for his "re-education" as just another punk-ass Witchling Stalker, and we'll see Mortimer ascend to his rightful place in the Rezzer hierarchy. <flame flame flame though maybe I should've posted this in the Rezzer's section...>
  7. That's not quite right. You can also gain extra Actions granted by Upgrades, and there's the suite of general Actions, such as Charge. And "Behold My Effervescence!" is an Upgrade, although I acknowledge that the lack of a Lightning Jump "sub-Action" if you will, spelled out in the Upgrades main Action describing what Lightning Jump actually does, is an issue. This is an interesting one. I've got the Malifaux Child errata card, and the "Just Like You" Action doesn't say anything about no Triggers, whereas other similar Abilities (like Hannah's "Make A New Entry"), do specify that no Triggers may be taken. Has it been spelled out somewhere that the scenario you presented above is actually the case? Could you please point me to it? I couldn't find anything in the Errata specifically saying that the Malifaux Child can't take follow-on Actions via the Triggers of the Action he copies. And since his card has already had an errata, but nothing was changed in regards to this issue, I think that means it's either permissable, or just so obviously not permissable that Wyrd reckons nobody would be gamey enough to do it! And it's not like he's copying Actions that aren't already on the table - Mei Feng has to be alive & well for the Child to use her Attacks, and Wong has to be on the table for Sammy to take that Upgrade. Just to be clear, I have no dog in this fight - I'm not involved in the outcome either way. I just find the question interesting, and plausible, because there have been some bats#*t CRAZY interactions that I've suffered from in the past because of my lack of imagination in finding the covert gaps in the rules, so I'm probably just trying to feel out the boundaries here. Thanks!
  8. Nice one! I've had a few thoughts around Mancha myself, and am keen to get him on the field with Brewy. We're in the middle of a campaign at the moment tho, using unfamiliar factions (that'd be Guild for me), so it might be a while. Tournament coming up end of November, tho... Could go Ironman Brewy and just see what happens!!
  9. Don't forget - with Mancha Roja's ability to destroy Paralysed opponents, Swill, Z Obey, The Sow & the Upgrade "Hold Their Hair Back" can all combine to set things up for him to do some filth! If you're terribly worried about Blasts etc tho, have a look at getting Merris LaCroix in there. She doesn't really fit the bar scene tho, does she? She needs to be FREE! Free to FLY!! Drunk tho, of course!
  10. Don't see why not. Wyrd knew when making "Behold My Effervescence!" that both Sammy's Ability to take a Master's Upgrade, and the capacity to give models Fast existed, so I'm sure they anticipated this situation. As @Math Mathonwy pointed out in a the Upgrade preview thread, Sammy is the only model in the game that can hold a Master's Upgrades, so I'm sure that potential interactions with that Ability are pretty high on Wyrd's checklist when designing new Gremlin Master Upgrades. And it's not like a model with the Lightning Jump Action isn't present on the board when she's deployed. She can only hold that Upgrade if Wong is the declared Master, so you do have his card to refer to. Finally, I'm not aware of any general rule that says a model cannot take an Action printed on another card, if it has some way of allowing it to do so. I know this is a major corner-case, but again, I reckon Wyrd would've put something specific on "Behold My Effervescence!" to prevent Sammy using "HERE WE GO!", of they'd intended that to be the case. Then again, as you guys pointed out, it's not exactly an über-awesome strategy, so maybe they're not worried about it happening too often, or to great effect. So - have I swayed anyone? ;-)
  11. Ooooh! Also, you guys had me going when you mentioned Sammy having "Reckless", and therefore being able to use Wong's new (3) AP Upgrade. I always think Sammy has Reckless as well - it just feels like she should, right? And she could damn well use it. Shame she doesn't. So I'd have to agree with you both - even if Sammy were to carry "Behold My Effervescence!", she couldn't use the "Lightning Jump" off it anyway, either as part of the (3) AP action (unless you've got a way of making her Fast... Aionus?? Worth it??), and certainly not as a (1) Action for any reason.
  12. Hallelujah, brother! That right there is the hilariousness (on paper, anyway) I've yet to field it, but I'll be gunning for Masters & Henchmen when I do, since it pretty much completely bypasses Soulstone use.
  13. Just halfway through the episode now, and enjoying it very much - thanks @Khyodee & @Lokibri!! For Som'er Teeth Jones' new "Insectophile" upgrade tho, it sounded kind of like you thought that generating a new Skeeter via Som'er's Ml Attack would mean you'd have to sacrifice any existing totem in play, so you wouldn't be able to build up a stack of Skeeters (and who wouldn't want to do that, quite frankly!). But the in version that I have of "Insectophile", it says "If there is a friendly non-Skeeter totem in play, sacrifice it", so breeding a seething cloud of blood-sucking misery ought to be a valid plan! (Sorry tho if I misunderstood what you guys were saying).
  14. Getting that Black surely is a gift. I'm running Dashel & 2 Riflemen as well, so I'm churning through the deck every turn...
  15. Ahhh, okay. Thanks. Well, that's one less financial dilemma for me
  16. Damn. With Joss, the Rail Golem, Soulstone Miners, Howard, the Mobile Toolkit - and now THIS!! - at his disposal, tell me again why Hoffman works for the Guild?
  17. That's true, but with Fingers & Whiskey on the board, that's 20ss for two Activations (he said, putting his sensible hat on for once...). Still, with the Nimble, Reactivate and Reckless across those 27ss & 3 models (that's including a Tanuki + Running Tab), that's essentially 11 AP, or 5.5 normal activations...
  18. I know - I was really gutted not to make it, but I'm setting my sights ahead now to the November/December event. I'll keep cranking away at my board as well - might come in handy for the Jan tournament!
  19. True. And that can be a powerful lot of Poison, so the Whiskey ought to be set for Reactivation for most of the game, that way.
  20. Absolutely agree that those two aren't essential for the plan, as you'd probably only get Fast on Whiskey one time before it hares off out of range. The Fermented River Monks are putting the poison on the Whiskey for the Tanuki to use?
  21. That's a good idea for the über-Drinking Contest setup that I want to have a look at - thanks! Got to try to find all the most efficient ways of pushing/moving enemies towards Brewy, and doing that (0) twice a turn would be a good start.
  22. So has anyone done the Armour +2, Fast, Flurrying, Reactivating (& Nimble, of course!) Whiskey Golem with Brewmaster yet? Yeahhhhh, it's a tad expensive (10+2+2+7+5+4=30ss), for the Golem, Angry Drunk, Running Tab, Sparks, Tanuki, and the Akaname. But fun?!?
  23. And if price (soulstones) is no object, the Whiskey Golem is Wk6 + Nimble, and that's better than Reckless in terms of placing 2 Scheme markers per turn. And it can beat face when needed. Tends to get attacked, tho - large model syndrome...
