  1. Most staple models are strong in more than one area or very strong killers (since that is always useful) so fixed list will in my opinion only result in less model variety. Niche models that sometimes see play in specific pools will be left at home.
  2. No. If you google "malifaux retro fate deck" you'll see that they are different products, if conceptually very similar. Classic is still in print and wasn't even out yet when I made that post.
  3. To me the wording of Prompt in contrast to Obey is enough. Obey forces another model to do something "...target ... immediately performs...", Prompts allows another model to do something "... target may perform...". Because of this language I think the burden of evidence falls on the person claiming that there is a chain of control in Prompt.
  4. Understudy->Prompt would have to target a model friendly to Cassandra, which in this scenario is only models in her original crew.
  5. Understudy->Prompt would have to target a model friendly to Cassandra, which in this scenario is only models in her original crew.
  6. Obey, Heed my Voice, Comply, Alpha, Echoes of the Void all explicitly say who controls the resulting Action(s), Prompt say "the target may perform a (1) Action" (though whoever controls Colette will do the push). My stance is that the person who hired a model controls all its actions unless a rule or talent says differently.
  7. And was it really that many early models? Howard and Skeeters are also too large, what other early models are there? And should one count things like the Ice Golem that are easy to attach to a base but bulge over the edges?
  8. I cut and changed the angle on some of the "knees" so the legs reached the edge of the base.

I consider the Wendigo tier 1. 3 SS for a significant Minion with Wk 6 that can copy Ice Pillars.
  10. The definition of stats are on page 9 of the manual, and it's the numbers on the card. Compare The Hanged which uses the phrase "half of its remaining Wounds".
  11. Well they are not assembled, and the other kits all seem to made from all flat parts (I guess so they can print the textures easily). That one isn't up yet, but you can see assembly instructions for older stuff here.
  12. The trigger doesn't do anything unless it as applied before step 5. Technically I guess the Dreamers trigger has incorrect wording. But it's close enough they just made it a FAQ entry instead of changing the card.
  13. Last years contest: They often tweak the the rules/judging a bit, but that should give you the gist.
  14. There is a description of how to score multiple schemes at the end of the game (page 74). While it doesn't explicitly cover end of turn scheme I would treat them the same way, i.e. the scoring player selects one scheme and resolves it fully (including removing any markers) before moving to the next one. Edit: page 93 in the Rules Manual.

I think about 99.9% of the time you try to use Carlos' single Pyre marker to block LoS to a Belle the end result will be that you get lured through Hazardous terrain for your trouble.
  16. That is not what Incorporeal says. It just makes the model ignore terrain and models. And it can still end in contact with terrain while ignoring it and will thus take damage from Transfixing Glare.
  17. You perform the duel as normal, so flip as many cards as you normally would. It's only the results that are different, i.e. no damage, triggers etc.
  18. I can't stand any mold lines, and while they are generally not huge on Wyrd models and not always that easy to see on the bare plastic they are very noticeable once painted. And gluing to models together before removing them again restricts access. Half an hour to assemble a model says absolutely nothing without having a close look at the finished model. I tend to be slow and methodical myself and have never seen model assembly as some kind of race. I also fill any gaps as soon as a sub-assembly is complete, so that adds quite a lot of time (I tend to parallel several models though). Wyrd is very hit and miss when it comes to gaps, some models have them cleverly hidden along natural joints on the model while others have canyons straight across fine details! For tools I would recommend getting a 100 pack of #11 blades, never hesitate to get a new sharp blade.
  19. I don't think the Rail Golem fills the same roll as Carlos, it's a beater so competes with Joss and Howard for a spot IMO. Carlos doesn't hit that hard in comparison, so it depends on what else you have in the crew I guess.
  20. The Malifaux Child require a 7 to heal so its healing is pretty marginal, perhaps especially in Guild who really want to use the higher rams for crits. As for the Student of Conflict, I think it can be decent (far from great though) in Guard the Stash and other pools where you expect a fairly static brawl to form, I expect double walking the first turn is the way to go though. I think any card draw is great, so a Rush of Magic totem would be a consideration in any crew of any Faction. Balance the Scales is a bit more situational since you have to have less cards in hand, but it seems like an auto take vs Arcanists if nothing else.
  21. This is the worst assembly advice I've ever heard. The restricted access from the big ass sprue would make it infinitely harder just to clean of the mold lines, not to mention aligning the pieces.
  22. There is quite a large variation in difficulty, on one hand you have Witchling Stalkers one piece models and the two player starter models that are just a few pieces. On the other you have various insect things with lots of legs, like Skeeters (both iron and normal) and Large Arachnids. I use plastic glue with a thin metal spout (Revel Contacta Professional to be precise) and have never felt the need to pin Wyrd models. You'll want to keep an eye on @GMort, he does unboxings that are quite helpful for assembly: http://gmortschaotica.blogspot.se/p/unboxing-malifaux.html I use Vallejo paints and prefer to have eye dropper bottles, but I understand that GWs current paints are perfectly good (if perhaps a bit expensive). I stopped using GW when they introduced the hilariously bad screwlid pots so have no current personal experience. Some people do video battle reports and posts them in the battle report section of this forum, but I'm not very fond of video reports myself so I don't know how they stack up.
  23. I think you'll have a pretty hard time killing Mei as she has to be there until the end and that pesky Price of Progress heals her as well as draws cards.
  24. I think both the Wendigo and the Emberling are way undercosted when compared to other models as they are significant minions for 3 SS. But then we come to whether Totems should be compared to other models, some are pretty obviously designed as an integral part of the Master (e.g. Hollow Waifs) while other just seem like a random model with perhaps some light synergy with their required Master and thus will have to be competitive with other choices. Personally I think Totems in general should be costed like other models (special cases like Hollow Waifs could be excepted).

I use Union Miners for burning, opposed relentable duels without TNs, no need to cheat. The Emissary's other (0) actions are quite good and Flaming Conflux is a pretty terrible upgrade in general so if I were to bring Emissary with Kaeris I'd use Arcane Conflux or one of Arcanists' excellent generic upgrades anyway. And really man, there are other reasons to play a master than internet "wisdom" telling you it's the most powerful choice...
