  1. Another Mulligan from me this month unfortunately... I did the rookie mistake of trying to much, and have a bunch of half painted minis and a 3/4 done ruined tower that I didn't get to finish in time for the April community competition... :-(
  2. How about this: Seamus: belles, Sybelle for Molly Molly: Crooligans, McMourning: dogs, flesh construct and nurses Might need some beater for Molly/Seamus, with Yin being an obvious candidate. Both Molly and Doc could enjoy a Rogue Necro...
  3. Again, a very sound plan! If you go with Seamus or Molly (or both!) you'll gradually build up the arsenal you'd want with Nicodem. Seamus is pretty happy with some synergistic beaters, maybe som scheme runners. The reason McMourning often is suggested along with Seamus is because you get nurses there, and they are extremely good, as well as a canine remains (scheme runner) and a flesh construct (tar pit). Otherwise Seamus thrive on failed wp duels, so anything that target wp is good. Yin is often mentioned here. The hanged is very powerful, but very divise for Seamus; many swear by it, many never hire them. Molly's box contains Crooligans (scheme runners) and Phillip and the Nanny (card draw/markee manipulation). I'd say McMourning's box is slightly more useful for Seamus, but Seamus' box is more useful for Molly than for McMourning. If you only want to run one master from the outset I'd say get Seamus, McMourning and Yin. If you want more variation, Molly might be better than the good doc. Should be under 100 either way...
  4. Story encounters are hame setupd for more narrative games. There's a bunch of them (more generic ones) in the rule books, and encounters tailored to the specific models in the boxes. They tend to be somewhat less balanced, just so you're forewarned... The models included however are balanced for regular just lile any others! :-)
  5. Then I'd start out with Seamus and McMourning (dog and nurses) and go from there. Eventually you'll probably get around to Nico as well, but Seamus is a lot of fun. Not as much summoning, more movement tricks and murder, but fun anyhow. You could also expand with Molly and a box of Drowned, Seamus' box have nice synergies with Molly, and Crooligans and Drowned are all around useful... Molly is a summoner and buffer with somewhat more limited summoning than Nico, but just strong all around...
  6. I'd get Seamus and McMourning for starters. Then you could get some all around useful pieces, like Yin, Izamu, Toshiro, Night Terrors, Doxies, etc. Should get you going, and when you eventually get to Nicodem you'll have a solid base... It seems Nicodem is where you really want you go, but it's not the most beginner friendly choice (that said you'll be able to compete just fine, you'll just probably find yourself more eager to expand faster than with some other masters). If you really want Nicodem, go Nicodem, otherwise I'd say Seamus is a great place to start... Search for the thread on starting out with Nicodem, and various Seamus threads by Fetid Strumpet! :-)
  7. Things improve, but I'm still not up to full speed, and work is a disaster area when you've been away for a while...
  8. I'm afraid it's going to be a joker from me this month; three weeks in bed with pneumonia and work travels the rest wrecks any hobby plans... :-(
  9. Two questions: Where are you located, and what are you looking to get for the Egg Hauler? T.
  10. Made me laugh out loud, you did... :-D
  11. Basically water is what you need to thin your paints (good point about distilled water; tap water at my place is good, so tend to forget). Trouble is water has a lot of surface tension, flow improver fixes that. Washing detergent thinned with water might do the same job, but flow improver is easier to control. Also, too high water ratio and the paint will "break down" and become inconsistent or "unmixed". Matte medium fixes that. Retarder slows down the drying time, making it easier to mix the paint and to get more even coats. Gunk is a mix of (distilled) water, retarder and flow improver. I tend to use a ratio of around 50/50 paint to gunk for most army painter or vallejo paints, more thinner for the zombicide range, less for vallejo air. If I need thinner paint I add matte medium as well. None of these are necessary, but they will make your life easier. They're also all extremely cheap, one bottle of each will last you a lifetime! :-)
  12. You could probably get away with going to an artists' store and buy matte acrylic medium by the litre (ie cheap), some cheap Payne's gray or similar plus black and a big brush. Mix a lot of medium and a lot of water with a little grey, and you've got yourself a translucent wash. With a big enough brush it should be manageable... Great job using rattle cans though! :-)
  13. Get one of the top brands kolinsky brushes, size 1 or even 2, and a brush soap. Expensive, but will save you money and frustration in the long run. I prefer W&N Series 7, but Rosemary, Raphael and DaVinci should be just as good. Get a ceramic tile as a palette, or better yet a wet palette. You should get the regular suspects from the arts supplu store; matte medium (not gel!), retarder and flow improver. Get a few empty dropper bottles and mix up some gunk for thinning paint. I use a recipe from an old article on the reaper site, but google it and you get the idea. I think a good rule of thumb should be to include at least 50% water in the gunk... This should set you up for most painting techniques, and you can even mix your own magic washes, glazes, translucent paints etc...
  14. Well, go with the one you like the looks of most then. You can't go wrong with either of these two. Slop Haulers should probably be next purchase either way...
  15. Som'er plus Ophelia then... :-P
  16. Vallejo is great, but also check out Army Painter. They have a smaller range, and tend to lack a lot of the wonderful muted colours of Vallejo, but they have great quality and consistency (in my experience better consistency than Vallejo) and tend to be cheaper. I have the full Army Painter range, and use Vallejo for colour tones not in the AP range (like the wondeful deck tan amongst others)...
  17. Awesome stuff! I like how you get the board "alive" with the spots of different colours. I'd considee making a mix of medium grey and lots of matte airbrush medium and do a sort of spray on glaze to tie it all together... Probably won't really matter when you get more stuff like buildings and stuff on there, but I'd still consider it...
  18. I finally got around to the Insidious Madnesses in my pile of unassembled plastics, and naturally had to do it without instructions. I also threw away the box, so didn't have the renders/pictures available. It went slower than it would have with instructions/pictures, and there was a moment of frustration when fitting the tentacles to the bottom of the fattest one. Otherwise uneventful...
  19. For Anna Lovelace check out Nancy from Guild of Harmony/Demented Games http://www.dementedgames.com/products/nancy-collectors-edition Link is to the collector's edition in resin, absolutely stunning mini. I assume the regular metal one is great as welll
  20. Glazing medium is basically matt medium (basically matt clear paint) with some thinner added (usually water, retarder, possibly other useful chemicals). If you use it to thin your paint with Glaze Medium you get translucent paints, or glazes. They are extremely useful for getting smooth transitions between different colours and shades, but you can get the same effect with just water and a lot of patience...
  21. I think the easiest to learn, yet most capable of tricks combination is Somer + Ophelia. I'd start there, you can always try different factions at a later stage! Gremlins are varied and fun, forgiving for a new player and are competitive. Just get a box of slop haulers, maybe merris lacroix and sammy lacroix...
  22. In the meantime you could look into getting Gracie, the third or the Big Bacon named characters as she's out....
  23. Can you provide a sample picture of each of the warhamsters fate deck and the 2014 adepticon deck? If they are the ones I believe I am interested in both. Also interested in the War Rooster. How much is shipping to Norway?
