  1. Hobby stores sell bags of unpainted barrels of the correct size for a few dollars. Paint them up and use a fine marker to add lines between the staves. I think I found a bag of 10 for about $3 US at a Hobby Lobby.
  2. Hey Jeremy, One of these weekends (likely early fall now) I am going get down there from W. Laf. for a Saturday game. I'll see how many of our group I can drag along. If you're interested I have a hobby afternoon and HH tournament coming up here in West Lafayette, but it looks like this is exactly when your group meets down there. Tuesdays at 6 PM at the Sage's Shoppe every week though, we're here. Cheers
  3. Fat Dragon makes some nice papercraft terrain pdf's that you can purchase, download, and print. Today they are having a one-day sale on a set of buildings, streets, and bridges for under $3. I have only used one of their sets before because I only recently discovered them: the small Baba Yaga's Hut. If this is printed off on heavy stock, it works pretty well for Malifaux. I reinforced the building a bit more by using a foamcore floor and it seems like it will be great on the table. Hopefully others out there can make use of this. At $3 (plus printing) for a several buildings you can't go wrong. If there is any interest, I can post pictures later of the terrain, once I have the new stuff build---I just downloaded.
  4. Additionally, there will be a minimal charge to enter the tournament, and really great Malifaux prizes for those placing 1st -- 3rd. Special thanks to embitteredsoul for amazing prize support!
  5. Dhampir's post got me thinking---maybe put some PVA glue over string and then dip it into the dried herbs or foliage (birch seeds) and hang to dry? I haven't tried it, but now I think I will.
  6. What witchcraft is this? How are you making those buildings---they are great! It looks like some plasticard or thin wood for larger parts, and modeling compound for stonework maybe? Adding all the details to the walls while they are flat and assembling afterwards is something I hadn't thought of, so I learned something already.
  7. Bryansanda, I just PM'd you with some information.
  8. Another Henchman Hardcore tournament! Two weeks after Gen Con and a week before classes begin---perfect time for a tournament. Bring your best 20 SS crew to: The Sage's Shoppe 1009 Sagamore Parkway West West Lafayette, IN, USA Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, 2 -- 6 PM
  9. Get those miniatures painted before Gen Con! Join us for a Saturday afternoon paint-fest at The Sage's Shoppe in West Lafayette, Indiana, USA. I will have paints and basing materials to use, just bring some miniatures that need work. If you have questions just PM me. Time-space coordinates: Saturday, July 18, 2015, 2 -- 5 PM The Sage's Shoppe 1009 Sagamore Parkway West West Lafayette, Indiana, USA
  10. My local FLGS may have one set left. I'll check this week when I get there.
  11. Same here. The thought of Willi throwing bombs around puts a target on him every time. But I mean look at him! He makes me laugh every time I put him on the board. I still field him because I enjoy the game more, win or lose.
  12. Binder. Often used upgrades on pages opposite crew I take them on. Open to a crew and it's mostly right there on two opposing pages.
  13. Superior Dollhouse Miniatures has tiny door hinges. <nerdy voice> They're not dolls! </nerdy voice> More fun to make them, though. Perhaps glueing doors to thin hobby pipe and using music wire slotted through the pipe?
  14. Thanks all. I am definitely going to be doing this again. That Jackalope just makes me smile. Cheers.
  15. In a recent game, I used Myranda's (0) Shapechange action to summon another beast and then sacrifice my almost dead Myranda. I had the Jackalope on my side, with none currently on the board. The Jackalope's Multiply characteristic states that, "...when a friendly Beast is killed or sacrificed, summon a Jackalope into base contact with the Beast before it is removed from play." It thus seemed to me that I could use Myranda to summon two Beasts: an enforcer beast through Shapechange and the Jackalope through its Multiply. I did not see any limit on the number of models summoned in the Summoning section in the large book (although I took pity and didn't bring up the cute little Jackalope in the game). Could I have summoned both?
  16. Calling all Midwest Malifaux players! TippCon is coming April 11-19, and there will be a Hardcore Henchmen tournament on Sunday, April 12, 3-8 PM. The Sage's Shoppe, West Lafayette 1009 Sagamore Parkway West Entry is $5 ahead or $10 at the door Prizes will be given to top placing players Questions? Ask away or PM me.
  17. Hey Jeremy! I'm just up Hwy 65 an hour, and one of these weeks I am going to get down to Indy for your Wednesday games. We play Tuesdays at The Sage's Shoppe in West Lafayette. Will your regular Wednesday games be continuing into the summer? In other news, TippCon is in two weeks, and we will be having a Malifaux hard-core tournament Sunday, April 12. I am going to get something posted on this event in two shakes ...
  18. About six months ago I was assembling some steam arachnids (can never have too many archnids) and one of the tiny smoke stacks went flying out of the forcepts like a silurid caught in a crossfire. On hands and knees I searched the carpet for a while, and finally, having no green stuff on hand, resigned myself to having one amputee spider. Today while preparing Sunday pancakes for the crew, I noticed something dangling from the elbow of my shirt. The missing spider-bit had hit my shirt and glued itself in place, and then weathered countless washings and wearings but remained in place. This is known as flipping a red joker at breakfast. If you've lost little tiny pieces, don't give up hope, especially if they were glued before taking wing. Unless it was Yan Lo's beard---a silverfish is running around with that on its chin.
  19. Great idea, C.B. I was going to start keeping a notebook for this exactly. Maybe now I'll do both. If you want to run some statistical tests on the data down the road, just let me know.
  20. Another hobby afternoon at the The Sage's Shoppe in West Lafayette, IN, USA Bring your mini's or terrain, or just show up to join in or discuss the game. Want a demo? --- just ask! Sunday, Feb. 9, 2015, noon -- 3:00 PM EST
  21. Here's a large cemetery piece I haven't finished. I went too heavy handed with the foliage flock and may rub much of it off. This will serve as a large hill to block distance shots, and lots of cover in the middle but with a firing lane down the center. Now that I see the piece that Dhampir refers to above though, I wish I had done a few things different. Good reason to make some more and try again.
  22. From the album: prof_bycid's materials randomizer experiment, entry #42

A cemetery that is a work in progress. One grave is open, either for buried models or for jumping in for cover. I am happy with the cliff face, not so happy with the vegetation so far.
