  1. I was just wondering if anyone had much experience with the Mysterious Effigy. Been looking at the Arcane Effigy to go with my Arcanists and thought I'd take a look at the Neverborn one as well bit I'm less certain about that one. Like all the effigies it's moderately difficult to kill, especially for its points. Rapid Acceleration is situationally useful, but could in the right situation be a life saver. Disguised Fate is cool, but really short ranged, and obviously card dependent. I just don't know, unlike the Arcane one where I can see a clear reason to take it ( condition removal), the Mysterious one seems to be much more of a luxury. Good if you happen to got 4ss spare, but probably much lower down the priority list than a lot of other models. Or am I missing its use once its actually on the table?
  2. On not sure postponed is the right word. More that at the end of the period it obviously needed quite a lot of work still and so the Avatars at least will be going through another round of testing later this year. Now the reason for that seemed at least partly to be that there just wasn't nearly as much activity in this round of testing as previously seen. I think partly because of beta burnout and partly because of the nature of the models/format.
  3. But bases are wider than 1" so all that really does is add an inch to the width of the wall.
  4. Is there a definition of falling?
  5. I don't think the twins together is that impressive. I think Lilitu is a pretty decent model, but I don't think you will often want to bring Lelu along. He might be fine on his own though, only tried them together so far. Lilith and Kade sounds like a good mix. Its also worth noting that I think both are better with someone like Zoraida who can obay them to use those abilities without spending their own Ap. (I'd love to be able to take them with Colette)
  6. I'd like some functional avatars out of it. There seems to be a lot still to do to get some of them to work. Personally I think the design constraints is a big problem and that the result will be much like it was in 1.5, but that's what we got to work with. As for other things I'd like to see eventually. I'd really like a showgirl with a gun, I've seen some cool miniatures for that kind of model, I think wyrd could do a good job with it and it would be nice to have. But I don't think we 'need' anything any time soon and from Wyrd's perspective I'd rather focus on getting the plastics out as soon as possible. That's what's stopping me getting new crews, I want to wait for the plastics, new rules isn't going to help with that.
  7. Charges are not a walk, so charges does ignore disengagement strikes. It also means you can charge through enemy engagement zones without provoking disengagement strikes.
  8. The Oiran also give +1 wp to models within her aura.
  9. The scheme markers don't even need to be usable for any of your schemes. They only become relevant when there are game rules that tells us they do something (usually score VP). Or in terms of making your opponent worry about them.
  10. Depends on the crews involved. Anyone who can put down markers in a different way than the place scheme marker interact action/modify that action an do it easily enough.
  11. Sadly you can only copy (1) actions, so no incite. The crew was Pandora, Bad Juju, 2 Waldgeists, 2 Silurids, a sorrows and an Insidious Madness. ( I think) We only got in 3 turns, but it seemed to work pretty well. So I'll probably try it again as I've not done that much with the swamp fiends so far.
  12. I do that all thetime. In fact I never run Candy, don't like her very much. All the Neverborn ones work fine, the merc ones can be interesting too. In fact I think Pandora is a fairly self contained master, she doesn't really need much from her crew, nor does she give them much. You can certainly ramp up the WP aspect, but you can also take a completely different crew and do just fine. In my last game Pandora was leading a swamp fiend crew to good effect against Sonnia.
  13. Its also a really nice model, I quite enjoyed painting it. I normally prefer plastic but this one might be one that's worth picking up.
  14. Maybe, maybe not. And yes, they so tend to die if you launch them into the enemy crew, but that's okay. Its a 5 ss minion, they are there to disrupt the enemy crew and they are very good at getting in the way, preventing interact actions and with the Misery aura and everything else they will generally force your opponent to react to them. For a 5ss minion that can get to anywhere you need him that's really very good. Especially as they do require a little effort to kill, either a much higher value model or possibly several cheap ones because of incorporeal. Now I generally wouldn't take more than 2, but they are really very good (and not just for Pandora). I'm a big fan of Sorrows.
  15. If you are walking them around, yes. But there is rarely a good reason to do that when you got Misery Loves Company. That makes them really fast. And opens up lots of interesting options, especially if you start using it on the enemy models too.
  16. I dont think Lucius needs Guild models specifically, but he does need minions around, preferably competent minions. He is really good with Jacobs stuff for instance. I just want to take some of the guild models because I do t play guild and some of them are cool. I think you could run him perfectly viably without a single Guardsman model, but you do have to construct his crew around him to a larger degree than some of our other masters.
  17. He was a lot of fun when I tried him, he is however very crew dependent and will absolutely not suit or even work with every crew. I'll definitely need to adjust my selection as its usually quite enforcer heavy. And really need to get some Lawyers/other guild stuff to go with him as well.
  18. Yup, just a real shame about the way they have chosen to distribute it. I guess the resell value of them could be high, especially since that art looks so much better than the Johan art in the book.
  19. Definitely masters for me, with a secondary consideration for faction. For instance at the moment I'm an Arcanist and Neverborn player, but that really mean Colette and Pandora with some supporting cast. For instance I got Ramos and Rasputina for my Arcanist to help cover that, but I got no intention of getting the whole faction just because they are Arcanists. With my Neverborn I eventually plan to add Lilith, Lucius and Collodi to Pandora and Zoraida so I have all the masters I like in that faction. But I also quite like the Viks and will get them eventually, and Sonia box as well. But I got no plans of playing those factions, its just individual crews I like.
  20. Lots of kickstarters are indeed getting funded, but from what I've seen most also disappear again. Not that they don't deliver, but I think we have yet to see the first game really make a good jump from kickstarter into a successful game that's being played and growing. There are some candidates around, but a lot of kickstarters seems to lose a lot of momentum between funding and delivering and the lack of store support/ access for new people also hurt. And as others have said, a lot/most of the activity for the past year have been in the beta tests, but those forums are no longer available. At least here in the UK it seems to be growing quite well. Many more events with more people have been the order of the day since M2E. It seems as if Malifaux have managed to make the jump up to a small, but played game. It's not challenging things like Warmahordes or 40k (yet), but it's played in lots of places.

Its the Mercenary trait that let's you hire models out of faction, nothing to do with being an Outcast. Its just that most Mercenary models are from the Outcasts but not all Outcasts are Mercenaries and not all Mercenaries are Outcasts.
  22. I don't know, I find keeping them within 2" of Colette too limiting. Colette for me is usually in the back of the crew, I want the Performers out there and doing stuff for me. If they die, they die. At 5 points I'm not really fussed as long as they accomplished something. If they give reactivate to someone even better. Cassandra to me is more of an artillery platform. Between nimble and her push trigger she can be in cover, deliver a focused Breath Fire out to a good range and get back into cover if need be.
  23. I'd say that if you get killed in two turns something have gone very, very badly wrong. The only time I've had that happen was in a beta game where something was clearly not right. The showgirls don't automatically hit as hard as some other crews, bit they are not pushovers either. But one of the nice things about Colette this edition is that she is not restricted to showgirls, she works well with almost anything. My basic crew looks something like this. Colette Cassandra Angelica Performer December Acolyte Howard Langston I often take a second Performer, but have used anything from Rail Workers and Molemen to the Captain and Friekorps Specialists and Librarians with that.
  24. Sounds interesting, just got to get the computer too be able to power on again but almost certainly in.
  25. Focus and Defensive Stance are some of those things it takes people a little while to remember to get around to, but that will change your game once they become a standard part of your play. Another overlooked ability is the (1l Interact action to remove scheme markers in base contact with you. Can't so it while your engaged, but it allows every models (unless its insignificant) to disrupt your opponents marker based schemes. I don't see people do it, but it could win games if done at the right time. And its an excellent way of countering the models that can stack scheme markers.
