  1. Also of note, Illuminated require brilliance to achieve full results, but are not good at handing that out themselves. That normally requires the overpriced and absurdly fragile beckoners. Belles are broken right out of the gate. Also, you know, cost more, cant be summoned, etc.
  2. I like almost everything except the Marshall. That's one dull mini. Also the price is kind of crazy for just a dude on a horse. McCabe's box set has 5 more guys and a dog for 5 bucks more... I am psyched to get Killjoy, as he's a model I really hated the sculpt of previously and thought it looked like undead Fat Bastard. I do wish he had a loincloth or something, as his lack of junk still feels odd. The monks look a bit off, like their legs are too long or something. Cool outfit design though.
  3. WWX is 35 vs Malifaux's 32mm. The terrain should work fine... and really all buildings are off anyways. Once you add bases into the mix, doors and windows get even more screwy. Pegasus has a line of modular plastic buildings that work well for Malifaux proper, and are pretty cheap. http://www.scalehobbyist.com/catagories/Buildings/PGS00004925/product.php?gclid=CPvuqvHp9rwCFa9cMgodg1wArA http://www.scalehobbyist.com/catagories/Buildings/PGS00004923/product.php?gclid=CJzgn7vq9rwCFUVgMgodt1IACg http://www.scalehobbyist.com/catagories/Buildings/PGS00004930/product.php?kw=gothic http://www.scalehobbyist.com/catagories/Buildings/PGS00004924/product.php?kw=gothic Kobblestone also offers buildings, but a bit more expensive. http://www.kobblestone.ca/catalogue/euro-ww2/01.html Precision Models has factories and ruins which could work for the unclaimed areas in the city. http://www.precisionmodeldesigns.com/timeless-models.html
  4. For cork, you might be able to put a little white glue on the top to seal it, then use a tiny ball of green stuff to stuck the foot to the area sealed with the glue. The green stuff will blob up a little around the sides of the feet, sort of like a little shoe. After you complete the base with snow/flock effects it shouldn't show up. For drilling, you would need a really tiny pin vise, which is a hand held manual drill. I found a relatively straightforward tutorial. The only difference is you would need a much smaller drill bit and rod connector given how delicate the Ice Gamin's feet are. http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?29444-Pinning-Tutorial Also here's a couple video tutorials. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTduo0voFws
  5. They spawn them, so technically they aren't born. Neverborn delight in loopholes. Just ask Lucius.
  6. I don't really understand using inserts with the translucent bases. It seems most of what you would want a clear base for would be using them with LED's. The insert would kind of get in the way. Can you explain what makes them great? They seemed a strange gimmick. I'm pretty confident in being able to paint the lip the faction color on my own. As far as the metal inserts, I hope they go plastic. While I like their designs, they're rather overpriced compared to really any other bases on the market. $13.50 for 5 30mm inserts (base not included) is 50% more than something like Micro Art Studios. Wild West Exodus has plastic inserts at $10 for 7 (5 30mm, 1 40mm, and 1 50mm). I assume the price difference is due to them being metal. If moving to plastic/resin gets them to a better price, I'm perfectly fine weighting my bases, since ball bearings/washers are super cheap.
  7. Unless this is just for a challenge, I don't get why you're not using Illuminated, as even without Brilliance they are pretty amazing. By comparison, Stitched are fairly lackluster unless you're getting a bonus on Gamble, seeing as how its just your average damage attack which trades +2 damage for hitting yourself if you miss. That's worse than Gremlin attacks. Also, unless I'm having a brain fart, the Addict upgrade only affects them as well, as its minion only (and why I think Graves and Tannen aren't terribly great in Lynch's crew). So essentially you're spending a stone to bring them up to par in terms of risk vs reward when attacking a model Lynch/HD has made brilliant. Moreover, they are your only source of brilliance. To take advantage of Rising Sun, in most cases you'd need Lynch to grant it, and someone else to kill it. I'm not sure its worth the 2 SS investment when you only have 1 model to pull it off. Teddy doesn't really do anything special in the list, and his minor synergy with Kade doesnt impress me. Trading a 7ss enforcer's entire activation for a minor movement is kind of weak. You can probably get some milage out of his Smell Fear by having the HD "Heed My Voice" something to walk to Teddy and fail the Horror check, but again, pretty situational. Lynch doesnt NEED brilliant to function, but it makes his core crew better. Its like taking Rasputina and very few frozen heart models to cast through. I mostly just reach for a different master if I'm not wanting the full murder potential his crew has. I do like the idea of subbing the doppelganger for a beckoner, as you get a bit more utility and can still steal their signature ability (or illuminated claw attacks). The doppelganger is also a bit more resilient and can offer cheating for initiative, vs the beckoner's relatively useless auras due to how small they are and how squishy she is.
  8. It looks like the same one from the box set cover art, just with arm swaps to include holding a victim. Coupled with the head electrode thingy, it reminds me of the old Cartoon Network Superfriends bump with Brainiac pleading with Lex Luthor for a pair of pants in the Hall of Doom.
  9. Yeah, what I was hoping for as well. Something like the elemental monks in Bushido.

    Collodi

Can you explain the alpha potential? I mean, I don't see anything like Tara flinging a desloation engine in your face on turn 1, or lillith, nekima, dopp, etc. at most, its a mediocre melee attack. Honestly she seems a complete waste of points. 2 4 soulstone objective grabbers (gupps/tots) seem way better.
  11. I'm always a little amused by Seamus creating a Belle from a corpse marker generated by a dead male character (or non-human). I imagine him lugging around a bunch of cantaloupes, wigs made from mops and a comically oversized tube of lipstick. Also the thought process of someone who just saw their buddy killed by Seamus, reanimated as an undead hooker right in front of them, and thinks "Hey... Todd/Moleman Pete is looking GOOOOOD now!"
  12. True, but the boxes aren't really balanced by points, number significant models, etc. The preview art for Kira has a whopping 4 points worth of models in it lol. I wouldnt really complain about more in his box. Really, the breakdown of the gremlin boxes will be our best clue, since they are also small units.
  13. Iggy's pitch a fit is -2 on unactivated models. So paralyze WP 6, which should get most models in the game. Insidious Madness also tags models it hits with its attack with an additional -1.
  14. I think it will more likely mirror Raspy. Chompy, Dreamer, 3 Daydreams and Coppelius. 2 mediums, 3 smalls and a large. Possibly an extra alp or two (and a separate box for them). Either way, I dont see stitched in there (or at least, only in there) given they fit in multiple themes (puppets, darkened, nightmare). Good news is the art more closely resembles the nightmare version, and plastic allows for bigger sculpts (see the ice golem for example). I was never a fan of the original daydreams. looking forward to picking this one up.

    Collodi

Her melee attack is pretty unimpressive for a 9 stone model with that as their only damage option. The triggers are worse than just a better damage track OR control, since the opponent gets to pick what they want, so its always the weakest. At most it adds 3 if the opponent decides to take the penalty. The effects average out to 2 more damage, but again, at the opponents call. It ends up being roughly the equivalent of 1/2/4 and critical hit or something. Not particularly great and if you're spending stones on them, its throwing good stones after bad. It also puts her in melee, which as 6 wound model, she does NOT need to be close to the enemy. Am I missing any synergy on taking her with Levi?
  16. Little did we all know that his Avatar form is Zoraida. Bet you wish you'd taken "The Shirt Stays On" instead.
  17. Hopefully they release the Glowin Varmits/Lovelty Assistant all in a box. If there's not a new sculpt, it would be annoying to buy them again, particularly since they are great as is. They are solo sprues, so they could just package them all together. But it they're going to be resculpting plastics so soon, I'd nominate the Hungering Darkness
  18. If you don't care about a gender swap, I think this is essentially what people were expecting for Ironsides. Fits the MSU style well.

    Collodi

Ugh, so Vasilisa's twist can't target Collodi anymore (changed to non-leader). IMO, that's the nail in the coffin for this model. 9 points is a lot for an unimpressive melee attack, a non-suited obey and not much else. I can get 2 gupps/tots for fast scheme runners for 1 stone less, and have activation control.
  20. Its a little early, as final results are coming out Monday, so things could be tweaked. Some thoughts below. Lelu and Lilitu - Lelu is definately the weaker of the pair, feeling more or less like a slightly weaker illuminated with no gun. Yeah, yeah, I know, Illuminated are stupid good. But would you ever really hire this guy on his own? I feel he's pretty much in the "Dreamer Summons Only" crowd, where his healing (and Pleasant Dreams) can help get a summoned Lilitu up to speed. He's slow for a Neverborn (speed 4), though it can be mitigated a bit with Lie in Wait. I just wish this ability didnt require a discard, but it can still get him out of most engagement ranges and let him charge something else (and grants Pounce to Lilitu). Neverborn doesnt really grant a lot of beneficial conditions, so the "Same Oppressive Force" ability isn't amazing. Lilitu on the other hand is pretty awesome, and will replace a beckoner in many lists that don't rely on brilliance, offering a better all around Lure package. When in the thick, her whip locks down a sizable area with its 4" range for denying movement and scheme placement. It would have been nice to see Whispers as a 0 action (and require a discard, or something to compensate), but we can't have it all. Iggy - His pitch a fit is pretty great. -2 to WP for enemy models in 6" that haven't activated. This pairs well with the Woe specific upgrade Deression, which grants woes the Melancholy attack which can force models to activate later in the round. Being an enforcer, he can carry this upgrade, though I feel Tannen might be a better choice to carry it, since the wording doesn't allow the carrier to use the ability. Martyr lets him take a damage for a woe, essentially trading 2:1 damage for incorporeal woes in many instances. All in all, a solid addition to Pandora. Oh, also he throws fire, but given Neverborn doesn't really have much way to capitalize on that, you aren't taking him for that reason. Tannen - another woe and potential Pandora friend. The damage on Bore to Tears isn't amazing by itself, stacking some Misery damage on it makes it more respectable, particularly given that ranged damage isnt Neverborn's strong suit. Still would have loved to see the walk and charge penalties stack on this to help lock down a model. His chatty can come in handy in certain schemes/scenarios. Cooler pairs well with Lynch's expert cheater. Not a bad piece of tech for 6 points. Graves - reasonably survivable with Armor 1, Hard to Kill and Black Blood to discourage death by weenie melee. His fence post is a decent (literal) beatstick attack with a built in mask to help with Obsidian Talons, though i still dont like the "Your Fight is With Me" being Tannen specific or its mechanics. Show Ya the Door is a nice way to move him and a Buddy 6", which is good for slow masters/units, and of course can be used offensively such as throwing into tots, who appreciate the meals on wheels. Keeping the Peace isn't amazing, given that Abuela does it automatically with no way WP test, but at least the action doesnt compete with any other 0 action, and who knows, you might get them to cheat a card or two.
  21. I still don't see how the new NOP is decent. You have to trigger it twice to make up for the stone buy in price compared to just saving the stone for an average prevention flip, and it has the opportunity cost of using an upgrade slot. Also its just within 6", whereas a stone works anywhere. I guess if you're planning on 3 or so stones worth of, say, defensive trigger suit options its ok. But they hit it too hard as a kneejerk reaction. And poor Barbaros was tested with it in effect and he's just not really worth it anymore. As far as nephilim enforcers go, I think Graves is a bit better. Tuco really just seems like a toned down Illuminated. He's much squishier with a worse melee for a slightly better gun. I wish Disillusion had a better range, I think that would help define him better. 4" is pretty short for a ranged model.
  22. I think they are viable with certain masters. Collodi in particular can benefit, since his puppet obey grants a + flip. Gamble is just too poor an attack to use otherwise. Its essentially a basic gun attack for a 6 stone model, with the tradeoff of +2 damage for hitting yourself if you miss. That's basically more risk for less reward than Gremlins Dumb Luck. So unless you can mitigate that, they're dead weight. They're fair with the Dreamer, who can summon them (possibly inflicting splash damage thanks to Rotten Contents), and pretty good with Lynch and Collodi, and not worth it for anyone else IMO. Lucius can grant them focused with Issue command, but its suit dependent, and I feel he has better ranged options. Obviously they aren't finalized, but unless Gamble goes to Will or something, they'll be situationally good, as opposed to the insane powerhouses they were in the previous edition. One clarification - Eternal Nightmare only triggers off attack actions. So no conditions, and being summoned by the Dreamer wont let them reactivate.
  23. Dirty Meg would also work well I suppose.
  24. i swear, if she was white/ a dude, the forums would be splooshing over her, being a tough looking character in an iconic pugilist pose. When it comes down to it, almost all the 2.0 master minis boil down to "a person standing around". Seamus is in a passive pose looking like a reject john, and he makes the cut? Rasputina's new sculpt is pretty lame and doesn't even fit the fluff. She's the chosen vessel of the avatar of the Tyrant of cold and famine, HUDDLING UP IN A PARKA. She gets a pass? Sonnia is half asleep (and partially laying down) just holding a lamp and sword. Lilith is some brainless runway model in a stupid fashionista outfit posing with a sword for the first time. McMourning decided to go into battle wielding a lab specimen. Ramos is hangin out, petting his spider. Tara is just standing there passively with a sword in her hand. Marcus is a dude with a stick. The Brewmaster is a midget with a mini-keg and a stick. None of these characters exactly scream dynamic, aggressive poses. Most of them are a step back from their alt sculpts even, and are all a massive step back from the 10 thunder wave of McCabe, Misaki, and Mei Feng. Lynch and Yan Lo beat most of the 2.0 models as well because they are actually doing something. Of the 2.0 crowd, only Lady J, Perdita, and Nicodem show any real action/aggression, and J is pretty widely crapped on. Ironsides is not magically adept. Its not like she was going to be in a mecha suit throwing a hadouken. She's appropriate for the fluff.
  25. The dolls "All sewn up" grants a positive flip to actions taken outside of the activation, which pairs well with Lucius with his Issue Command and Commanding Presence take advantage of. Tannen and Graves are both Mimics as well (dual faction Neverborn/10T). While they are enforcers and therefore don't benefit from those specific abilities, they can carry Useless Duplications, which might be neat on Graves.
