  1. I haven't put the Viks together yet myself but this seems to be the running topic in my group about most of the minis. I can't say I mind the challenge. Your painting is phenomenal and I can't wait to see what you do with the Viks.
  2. I feel like a see a fair amount of modification around here. Moreso in the old metal days than the current plastics. I like to think that the lack of modification speaks to the quality of the sculpts that Wyrd puts out. Then again, you make the valid counter point that there are a ton of "proxied" models. Personally, I don't modify because I am particularly bad at it. I would like to be good and really change my models but I also just sort of buy the models I like to avoid even needing to modify them.
  3. Maybe I am being too short-sighted. The few conversion/proxy heavy individuals I know haven't actually given wyrd any money. They wanted to play for free (which, dudes, I will totally let you play with my models to try them out. You just have to purchase something from wyrd). I am pretty lax with proxies most of the time and understand many of the arguments for their use (unreleased is the big one right now.) And at the end of the day, we choose who to play with anyway.
  4. I still believe that Teddy is the winner every game
  5. Under no circumstances would I play someone who has an entire crew made up of non-wyrd miniatures. I understand using proxies while testing a new model before purchase or temporarily while waiting for funding to purchase or because the model hasn't been released yet. I don't think it's appropriate to expect anyone to play you if you show up with a list of models from other companies and tell me that "Yeah, this Andrew Ryan is totally Leveticus." Fun idea, yeah (I even quite like the Big Daddy/Lazarus thing) but not fair to your opponent or to Wyrd.
  6. I have also found great use for the Valejo Metalic Medium in painting and highlighting metals. Plus, you can mix it into colors and have, say, metallic red.
  7. http://chaosorc.com/images/modern.jpg In my opinion, the Wyrd modern guns are definitely too modern for a Victorian feel. http://wyrd-games.net/shop/images/P/p-16599.jpg I, personally, like the Hats and Guns of Malifaux better, depending on the intended feel. I am also interested in seeing a model based on the Wyrd clear bases. I can't find any pictures of the clear bases, but the colored translucent bases have some love here: http://wyrd-games.net/community/topic/84329-anyone-use-the-new-clear-bases-show-them-off/page-2
  8. This was a huge problem for me with the metal PK. So. Much. Greenstuff. I, much like Dgraz, have had my PK for years and have experienced no problems with arms falling off or even becoming loose. I just pinned everything when putting him together. I have also heard the grips about the peacekeeper quite a bit and have always wondered how people treat their models or what they do to put them together. (Then again, some models I have received from friends I perceive as competent have fallen apart as well.) I do get a good chuckle out of people waiting for the plastics of some of the models under the pretense that they will be "easier" or "sturdier." I've had a hell of a time putting together some of these plastics. (DAMN YOU CLOCKWORK TRAPS! YOUR SMALL PARTS CONFOUND ME!)
  9. Honestly, I am surprised as well. I think most the points you brought up are valid, for me. I understand though that these list are super subjective and maybe I have just had better experiences. I tend to run him like I use to run the Executioner, a model that can put out damage but is also a huge distraction for the opponent. This brings up two models I'm no longer sure of: the Executioner and the Peacekeeper. Neither seem to be doing as much damage for me as they used to, the Executioner is as slow as ever and the peacekeeper is slower than 1.5. I'm not going to stop fielding them but they certainly aren't top of my list.
  10. All these models look superb. Great paint jobs and a huge attention to detail. I look forward to seeing more.
  11. This look super good. I particularly like your Sidir. As he is next on my painting block you have given me some inspiration.
  12. I don't necessarily hate the Dashel sculpt, it's a fine sculpt in itself. My problem I have with it is it is obviously very similar to the old Captain (move an arm and remove a coat... add a baton.) It even appears that both of the gentlemen are lefty shooters. Having opened up the wave two arsenal cards, the included cards for the sergeant has a picture that appears similar to/the same as the old captain. I'm mostly worried that I will mix them up on the table. (Sorry for the poor paint job as well. These were two of the first models I ever painted.
  13. Just recieved my confirmation this morning (order #20322. It was shipped two days ago. Which, I feel like I should be disappointed that I didn't get the email sooner or whatever, but, now it's just going to feel like shipping went SUPER fast.
  14. I think the paintjob looks really great. I wouldn't have even guessed it had been a year off the brush. Only critique I would give is on the OSL, which I am not the largest fan of in general. Maybe tone it down a little bit (how bright is that magic, 500 watts?), try and make it look a little more realistic. Otherwise everything looks pretty good, smooth paint, good details. I look foward to seeing more as you keep working
  15. Quite finely done. He looks phenomenal.
  16. I love the layout of this table. I hope you keep updating so I can see the finished result.
  17. Really, any list. I have played small games just master, handler, and as many stalkers as I can take; I have also played larger games that got to include other, higher-point minions. The handler has never let me down. Even when I lose (frequently) she is often the last model standing on my team. 35 point games are really where I see the sweet spot being for model selection and ease of gameplay. Another model that has only been brushed on, the Exorcist. A situational model, but a very fun and effective model (if you can ever get him into the battle... damn 3" walk.)
  18. I think, having kept my opinion to myself through all this, I'm just mad I can't spend all my money on new guild toys. And really, that seems to be the crux of it. "I budgeted to spend money! Now I'm not spending money on the Guild!" Like I said, I understand this point of view, I'm right there as well. I think I feel it extra, as do other Guild players, as the "Miss" is Guild this year, something I was stoked about. I feel the disappointment as much as anyone else, but I have to agree, Wyrd is trying to offer us some awesome products. Product that I personally can't wait to buy... in November (If the war store is accurate.) Ups and downs, man, strikes and gutters. Let's switch the subject, who has two thumbs, an affordable flat, and wants all the awesome new models? This guy. This guy right here.
  19. I have had a lot of fun playing then together in larger stone games. Copelius adds a different function to the table and a model that can act on it's own, away from the Hoff Death Star. The literary connection is just a fun nod that Wyrd puts in its stuff.
  20. I would assume she keeps it until the other model is dead (the noted end time, since she can't re-cast it at that point)
  21. Tokens and Counters are different things. Corpse, scrap, eye, and body part are all Counters (can be placed on the board, can stack infinitely high) and are all 30 mil. Tokens: only one that is coming to mind is Burning. These are not placed on the table and don't need any distinct shape. I know players who use dice, have laminated their cards to use dry erase markers (me!), or just random scraps of paper. 30 mil markers work out pretty well for the tokens because you can see them, keep track of them, and they look unified with the counters. Ratty has a sheet of counters that I use but also make for a good reference. http://malifaux.nezumi.me.uk/Downloads/Malifaux_Counters_Ratty.pdf (Sorry to nerd out on the counters/tokens thing. I'm not as serious as all that.)
  22. Doesn't it just feel good to crush a "power gamer" as a "fluffy guy?" Just a little bit?
  23. I like the idea and it was nice to read through. I think it might just need a little cleaning up and maybe add in a little variety... a few crews for each master instead of just one, some labeling. Overall though, like I said, the idea is good and it could provide a good tool for new players.
  24. I like the feel and the idea of the model, but I have to echo what others have said: I'm not sure why I would take him. It's almost a better trade to sac the citizen to gain a stone than discard my entire hand. Might be a legit use? Buy one if you need to fill in a list to have a full cache, then sac him to get the stone back in the pool?
