    May Releases

Wishing a fond farewell to another $37 of my hard earned money. You will be missed.
  2. Yeah, I fully support pulling down the dedicated Malifaux site until they can really update it. It really looks more like it's under construction than a site that's been around for over five years.
  3. I think the real problem comes from BOTH Molly and Kirai being portrayed in their new art as downright active. Molly seems to be going off the deep end of crazy as of late (her story in the M2E core book seems to match it) so I don't mind if her figure turns out so manic. What bothers me is doing that to Kirai as well. I'd really like to see her posed more like the Hell Dorado Mourner, which IMO really does capture the grief/despair feeling well. Having her skipping along with the shears behind her just looks wrong, more like badass ninja gardener for hire than someone who feels lost and alone and angry.
  4. Well, you could call the shop, ask if they have it in, and if they say yes then tell then you're in route. 90% of stores will be good enough to say they'll hold it for you if you say you'll be there in an hour.
  5. Excellent, as usual. Maybe the victim is a big dude because that's who McMourning is dragging back to be his next piece to work on? Love the basing on them BtW.
  6. Mentioning that we had Corner Deployment would probably help. From where I was standing I was deployed in the bottom left corner. So the top left corner is the "Back" to me. The two markers starting at the top left would be the "Back Two" that I necropunk'd.
  7. I came from the world of distance = modifiers and I am glad it doesn't apply here. The table size of Malifaux is smaller. The terrain options already give you quite an effective way to mitigate incoming shots. Even a single is terrible for attacks of any kind, because it takes away all the choice and options on the part of the attacker. You're stuck at the lowest value. You can't Cheat Fate. Your target still can. That said, I've still one-shot a model when I was firing with on a lucky flip.
  8. Just keep in mind that the model that used Obey (or Comply) counts as friendly during that action, so you do not take Horror Duels is say, Sybelle uses Comply on a model and makes that model attack her. Sybelle would have to use Comply and then force the model to attack say A Hanged. Then flip the duel and cheat it down to Paralyze the model in question.
  9. Got in a game with Nicodem last night. Found the Vultures ability to move corpse markers pretty handy. We were playing Squatters Rights, and I had taken the back left two markers. My opponent had the back two right markers. Most of our forces met in the middle (leaning a bit towards his first marker) and got into it. The Vulture got to bring a few corpse markers back to Nicodem and allowed him to reanimate a model right in front of him, easily within his Death's Whip range, and able to benefit from Love Thy Master and Rigor Mortis. Yes, this all *could* be done at range with Eyes and Ears, but if you would rather have the new model closer than where the counter dropped this can be extremely useful.
  10. Lemme tell you a story about Simple Green. Back in my hardcore Warhammer 40K days I was redoing/updating my army with a new scheme and design, so I had some models to strip. A friend told me to try Simple Green and I did so. I took my plastic Dreadnought, put it in a mug with undiluted Simple Green and covered it with cellophane. I put it on my workshelf in the "Come back to this in a few days" spot. Then after I went to work my girlfriend at the time decided to straiten up for me. She moved the mug to a different shelf. And there it sat, forgotten. For a month. When I came across the mug and realized what it was, I panicked. The top layer of Simple Green was a sludge of indeterminate matter. I took it over to the sink, hoping to find something I could at least salvage as a terrain wreck or something. I pour the mass into my hands and run warm water over it. Absolutely nothing was even slightly damaged. Other than some barest hint of primer in the deepest recess, the model was down to bare plastic. I spent five minutes laughing about it.
  11. Yes, they were always there. They too are native to Malifaux, just that no one cared. Until humanity came back through the Breach they were little bayou monsters no one bothered with. Now they are starting to immatate human culture...which makes them much more dangerous (subtle there Wyrd )
  12. Yup. You can get rid of the Slow all you want, but you're still stuck with the "Can't take interacts" part. It is good for dealing with counters that somehow fall behind your line, or the random enemy that somehow dies way the heck back on the field though.
  13. Fast Punk Zombies spamming Slice and Dice can get a Lady J player worried, especially if you can get a canine remain or two near her. It isn't an attack action, so she can't Reposte it for damage.
  14. If they produced the entire box like that on purpose I'd throw $5 bills at them until they bled out from paper cuts.
  15. Nightmare Hired Swords. All the Viktoria boxes from last year.
  16. Good thing: Those models, which look incredible. Bad thing: That I'm almost positive that they are on the box for the Vampire Counts Mortis Engine based on that small spot without primer on it. I really like the basing especially, looks extremely realistic. Pale Rider is my personal favorite of the group.
  17. I love your Unboxing format. Great site.
  18. I can't agree with the "I paid for it, so it should be a big impact on the game" feelings. Played too much Warhammer/War Machine/40K to see big expensive models blown clear off the board by random chance or tactical blunders to not accept that sometimes models don't actually do squat. Giving a nice mix of options for how to manifest, to me anyway, is the best way to balance dollar cost against table time. No one is required to take Avatars, and if they make Avatars insanely strong it will feel too much like codex creep. If each Avatar can find itself useful for about 50% of the strategy/scheme pool that is a decent balance. Maybe one more manifest option along the lines of "Early Manifest: At the start of your second turn or later, you may reveal this manifest card and manifest your master, who receives Slow and cannot take Interact actions this turn" or something like that.
  19. Hopefully this is one of the things that will be adjusted before Wyrd hits the 3' big red "Print" button (ominous lightning available with button). The occasional wording issue can arise even with everyone watching. Like Hateful Darkblack said, most people playing it likely didn't even notice it and just instinctively played it correctly.
  20. The one time I did it I wrapped a ball of green stuff around the model's head, then used my assorted sculpting tools to poke in a series of holes and bumps into it. I kept the tools damp through the entire thing to ensure they didn't stick too much. A little plastic cement also helps mess with green stuff and make it a little more mash-potatoe-y? Not sure how to describe it but it worked well for me. I'd recommend practicing it once or twice on a pewter model that you can soak in nail polish remover to try again on though.
  21. I'm a completionist for things, so in almost any game I play my main faction will end up with about a 100% completed collection...which is why my painting backlog can wrap around a city block. off-faction things like picking up other crews for demos, not so much. I plan on having a crew from each of the main four and an Outcast done up shortly after I get home just for the sake of running demos. But I'll keep picking up Resurrectionist stuff for as long as they produce it. Damn my addictions.
  22. I lack the RAM to remember everything that has been tossed into my discard, so I try to keep track of the number of Severe cards I've seen played by both myself and my opponent through the turn. Given that there are only 12 total that isn't too hard while tracking everything else.
