But I have been looking at all the others and think I want to try Von Schill and the Freikorps as my next major crew investment. Just looking for any general pointers or advice about them. BAsed on my experience, they are incomplete and below the curve without the Wave 2 Freikorps models, which include the Librarian, Trapper, Strongarm suit and Lazarus. They are very fun to play when the WAve 2 models are included, and the synergy is amazing, but since these are beta rules, I don't know if it will remain that way when they hit print in the wave 2 Arsenal decks. Grim Posted November 10, 2013 Report Share Posted November 10, 2013 Hannah has been pulling her weight in SS (10SS base plus 2SS Ancient Tomes) in my Wave 2 Von Schill crew. With Wave 1 only, while her bury ability is very useful, I find her underwhelming with nothing to target Make an Entry with in both Von Schill and Viks (the two Wave 1 crews I play), making her too expensive for me. IL195 Posted November 10, 2013 Report Share Posted November 10, 2013 I agree with Grim, Kuldaj. The freikorps, with just wave 1 models, are incomplete. I run freikorps as my main group, and it can be very challenging to win with only wave 1 models. heckler Posted November 13, 2013 Report Share Posted November 13, 2013 I've been playing them with wave 2 stuff. my latest incarnation was 2 librarians, 2 korpsman, 2 hunters, strongarm suit, von schill with 2 upgrades and 2 extra SS. a bit light on the SS but overall it works out well. I feel it needed more melee until the librarian change. i want to try hannah out. it seems like it will be hard to justify the 12ss cost but i'm willing to give it a few tries. is there a model for hannah? If you want to play only Friekorps, then they are limited at the moment, but they do have access to all the models in the outcast faction. Their wave 1 models make for a horrible Freikorps crew. I mostly play with: Von Schill Librarian Strongarm Lazarus Totem Then i switch back and forth between specialist and trappers, or sometime include Taelor/Johan/Bishop depending on the task at hand. I don't think we have seen anything for the Frekorps yet, so I wouldn't get my hopes up for Adepticon. However....if this is the famous Boltgun that I am guessing it is I have no doubt you can make a killer crew out of the current metals plus proxies and conversions for anything not released yet! As for Hannah there is currently an EXTREMELY rare model that was available with the Through the Breach Kickstarter but good luck sourcing one! Wave 1 Freikorps can do alright but you wont want to field an entirely FK crew which is kinda lame. Thankfully the Wave 2 Beta cards should be available in their finalized for on the 10th of Feb, these rules will be finished and tournament legal so we can start to rock out the Wave 2 stuff. Right now, It is exactly the metal set with the Steam Trunk. While that is a fantastic crew, I kind of want the Steam Trunk without buying a duplicate of all my other Freikorps models. I already own all the previous Freikorps minis and don't want to purchase another set just for Hannah. I fully expected that the Steam Trunk is going to be part of the box set but wish that it will be available separately but think unlikely. I'd be getting Hannah as well. Ideally, it could be purchased outside of the box set. Then we get the best of both worlds. I've tried playing without the Steam Trunk a couple of times...not so fun. Have had a game against lilith Were he Got tide up in turn two by a terror tot, and didnt get to do much the rest of the game, since he Got isolated. Kadeton Posted February 8, 2014 Report Share Posted February 8, 2014 The need for support is practically a given for Von Schill crews - they're a military unit, and they need to act like one to get the best out of them. Isolate any Freikorps model and they're pretty lackluster (except perhaps Lazarus, who can hold his own), but keep them in support range of each other and they all cover each other's weaknesses and complement each other's strengths.
