  1. SEV

    Team Cup 2021

I'm looking for fellow canadians to participate in this one.
  2. @fire5tone : good job. Small details: for Ulix you forgot that you can upgrade The Sow/Gracie to a Warpig with a 6 (which is super good in the right situation).
  3. I'm a big fan of your KoD work. I'm glad you make a painting detour with Malifaux minis. Great takes on Envy! I like the muted NMM. Do you plan on doing the rest of the band (Envy is the more spectacular pieces of the CR7, but they make a superb unit all together).
  4. Will you have a deluxe edition with real minis?
  5. Haha! Was that a competitive game? If it wasn't, what a jerk! I don't think we have hard counter like that in M3 though... I agree that, if you want to be competitive you're better to learn really well 1 generic master or 2 masters with opposed playstyle. Than learn the most powerful ook versatile options. But even if you don't have access to the super niche tech for a specific matchup and you bring only the second or even 3rd best option, I think you will have a massive advantage by knowing your crew well... Where I agree with you : titles will help with that. And this is awesome. I mean, most of my Malifaux buy are not to be most competitive but because I like the figs or, mostly, because I want to try something new. I do the same in tournament (switching masters and factions), and I'm pretty sure it's not the best idea (but definitely the most fun)!
  6. @Maniacal_cackle: your only way to the top 16 was obviously NB Marcus... You're doom now. Kidding, GL. Bayou Zipp is annoying. Be careful, he can put a lot of damage quickly into your crew and his really hard to pin down... Molly has a good center to piano... But a) he and Earl can drop a lot of Piano; b) he doesn't need to to be efficient; c) he can kill Molly... It's one of the crew with the most 2" engagement range. Also up we go allow to reposition models for easy bait and switch. I would avoid research and Claim jump if I was the Zipp player but beside that everything is doable. Finally he'll have a lot of Flyers (or Leaper since he'll hire TFM), so I'm not sure Emissary will work as intended (especially since he can just fly with me his ground troopers).
  7. You can play Crocket, 2 initiate and 4 corrupted hound and call it Marcus Pack 😀
  8. But the point of the title is to bring an other design to the master... So a jockey master would bring new synergy to that keyword...
  9. Why not? That could be a nice design opportunity imo.
  10. I Agree with @Maniacal_cackle 50SS gae can be played quite fast (you can even ask @ooshawnhow to have a 10 minutes game). When I started 18 months ago my game use to take 4h+ now I usually play in 3h. Still in 35ss summoning is the big problem. Beside that I think you'll be fine.
  11. Good luck! My though on the game to come (note that I'm not the best Z player out here). Deal with Manos quickly if you can. It's his only moving pieces (if he has to use the Emissary to scheme the game is going well for you). Don't be afraid to double stone on t1 for your summons if you have to. The doll will probably double attack you Bokor than die for a card. Just make sure that it dies next to WW so you don't waste a walk for your summons. If you don't need the fast on the Bokor t1, activate him before the doll. On t2+ you should have someone within 12" of Z so that means you can use doll tricks (especially good against jack). Use the terrain as much as you can with the doll. It loves hazardous terrain. Also, you probably already know that, but paying a life is part of the cost on its attack trigger. So you have at least 2 free ping on your Mojo target... Jack doesn't like that. Edit : also copying whisper truth can be situationally good (if you have a 8 to spare). Also copying the Hanged tactical can mess with Jack healing. Let us know how it went!
  12. My own power ranking for the Jockeys: Pig - good (nice utility, movement tricks and a lot of potential damage requiring not a lot of resources... good 7ss hench imo) Rabbit - average (good missile) Chicken - average (nice movement tricks, probably good with Mah) Three - weak (okish for 6ss maybe... Don't know what to do with it yet). Cuteness ranking : Rabbit - adorable Three - I'm Groot Pig - at least she got braided Chicken - those gremlins are not even able to pluck their chicken well.
  13. R3 is Public Ennemy in the player pack, I guess it should be turf war.
  14. I tried Z as a support for all 3 rounds of may tournament (+practice). She's is a really good support. 17ss really reduce what you can do with you crew though. I think you need a summon engine to make up for the AP lost. With Dreamer she felt borderline OP. Fine with everything else. Most of all I agree with you, double masters are not for every pool (I got stomp R3, mostly because of an early game brain fart, but she was not a good choice in that pool and in that map). I would not mind playing against 2 masters on regular basis. I think those super elite list can be punish easily by out AP them (and if one of the key pieces die early it's super hard for them to come back).
  15. I really like the pig one! She's a good Hench by herself for 7ss. It's unfortunate that she's not a pig. I still think she'll be playable in keyword. Her aura work well with reckless and Stampede, she has cool movement tricks and she's still a beast. She also give you incentive as a versatile to bring an other Jockey. Her and the Rooster in Mah heavy trap can be a nice package (13ss seems reasonable). You can build a super fast list with something like this : Mah + baby yoda pig jockey rooster jockey x2 bushwacker x2 Rooster rider SS Miner 5ss (and you can probably add upgrade if needed, since I don't think you'll need much stone). This is a glass cannon list but in the right map / pool that could be fun. Also, if you replace the Miner by an other Jockey/Rooster rider/Tricksy you have a really cheap entry point in to the game (3 boxes + 4 versatile models to expand). I don't think the jockey will have a big impact on the competitive scene but they are certainly a good buy for new player (and they seem really fun in a more casual setting). So kuddo Wyrd for the well designed box... Now about the price tag... 🤬
  16. @solkantrue it's less clean cut than I tough... The way I was reading it was that you couldn't declare trigger for all the action generated by the previous trigger (like onslaugh). Flurry say "take this action again" so I guess we can interpret it as being an action subsequently generated... Every time I think something is clear cut in Malifaux it's isn't...
  17. The attack from flurry is not generated by the trigger bu by an ability, so I don't see any ambiguity. You can declare your trigger on the flurry attack.
  18. RAI obviously will not allow models floating in the air... This is a tabletop game (a lot of us are playing it on a computer these day, but I'll let you try to make your Rex float)... Falling look suspiciously like a movement. But i would consider the change of location unavoidable since the structure of the board itself changes. So bo falling for the Rex, but at the end of day he's on the ground (since the alternative is impossible) For me it's the same thing as removing a severe marker. You were in severe terrain now you're not. You were on an ht1 box now you're not (therefore you're in the ground).
  19. Wow, that was fast and furious. Sad to see Dora fell to the Demon lady in bikini... Your opponent crew choices were unusual! My impulse is to try to control the game against an aggro crew like Nekima. Well play though, I didn't even realize that you could pustule your opponent model! GL against Reice.
  20. So R2 is over. Personally I won against Schtook with Dora and Z. The official score is 3-2 but my opponent was playing real slow and we had to stop on t3. It would have been a total blow out if we could have play the full game. This is the list I ran : Dora & Z (Neverborn) Size: 50 - Pool: 4 Leader: Pandora Totem(s): Poltergeist Hires: Candy Zoraida Vasilisa Black Blood Shaman Mysterious Effigy Effigy of Fate It worked fine. A little bit low on stone and too hungry for mask. Fortunately Z help. The interaction between Stench and Stuned is a fun one. How was your R2? @Kharnage seems to tears everyone apart as usual (I assume with solo Nekima). And what is your R3? The Map and scenario seems good for Titania. I'll play against explorer.
  21. For me, it depend of the map, the opponent and the scheme pool (in that order of importance I think). In the scenario above. I would prioritize elevated surfaces (since most of his crew are incorporeal so no points of exploiting other terrain feature). Because it's Daw, I would spread the symbols (2 on each side) and keep them deep, bit I would also try to not put a symbol to close to the side since outflank is in the pool.
  22. Well she still has disguise and feed on fear... Actually I don't mind her being 6 wd... Def 5 hurts though.
  23. I think it's a fine list... But as I said with the scenario you have you're heavily favored... It's corner + Symbols with a non killy scheme pool... I don't even see the point of trying to Brawl with Jack. If you do want to brawl. Juju is an other fine option. He's WP 7 after all. For that scenario this is the list I would play : New Zoraida Crew (Neverborn) Size: 50 - Pool: 6 Leader: Zoraida Hires: The First Mate Spawn Mother Silurid Silurid 2 Gautraeux Bokor Widow Weaver Use you summon to keep him busy and protect your symbols. Kill isolated models if you can and just Scheme. Z will die eventually, but he'll have to funnel a lot of AP to do it. You should be able to out activate him.
  24. I agree with Alcathous for Fae and for Carver (especially in woe). In Fae the Howling should be in orange. In nightmare you really need the 3 minions boxes so they should all be green. In Swampfiend, I don't see neither Hinamatsu or the Rider as mandatory (they are fine versatile, so orange)... But the Bolor box and probably the Silurid box can be green. I hired the Emissary way more often than Hina or Rider. I would put him in yellow. Vasilia worth it mostly if you go for BBS as well, if you don't WW is definitely better (Ilin the spirit of you budget list, I think they can all be red, since you also need the Stitch box with them). Spawnmother and Gator are also useful hire in some context,I think they can be move to Orange as well. I understand why you put Teddy in green for Woe since he's a natural hire with Kade... But most of the time this is not the best way to invest 17ss... The Rider and Hinamatsu will make the cut way more ofter. than Carver (usually better than Teddy). I think all those options have their merit (so all yellow for me). Lyssa should be orange (they can be useful as a cheap scheme runner). Serena, Wrath and The Emissary are also all valid options and can be orange as well.
  25. Try to avoid his bubble. Activate Z late if you can to mitigate the discard. You should be able to outmaneuver him easily. The pool is great for you. All the sche.e exept death bed are favorable for your crew. I would bring for sure 2 silurid and The First Mate and maybe a summoner (either WW or Spawnmother) and a Bokor for the card draw. Try to slow him down with Z as much as you can while all your pieces are Scheming.
