  1. if you use ingenuity with reference the field guide or tools for the job, do you get the suit of the card you would discard or no suit since you never discarded a card?
  2. Praise Waldo for all sources of stunned
  3. Schtook seems like a brutal match-up for the Viks. Armor just ruins their day usually, and you have the speed to catch them. I would think they'd be more afraid of getting stuck in combat than you would be. I guess stones can tank all those min 2s a lot better than 3 or 4 (for crit strike models).
  4. I think homogenization would be the 2nd biggest problem after broken combos. If I can put armor on the Viks, they're a lot more like any standard beater than glass cannon edge of your seat
  5. The Lucky aura is also very good (as anyone who's faced Big Hat and Bayou 2 card knows). Combined with Pride's aura, could be even better.
  6. The effigy is an enforcer, so you can't just put magical training on it. You still need a minion (although a steam arachnid + magical training is still the cheapest way to get arcane reservoir).
  7. I think the main problem is df4 4 wds and absolutely no defensive tech. You have to be really careful with her like I was not moving past her Battle Tempos until turn 4. I could mainly do that because the Emissary and Brawler let me win (or at least draw) the attrition battle in the center, something I could maybe have done with Barbaros but I've yet to put him on the table. Nothing in keyword that can tank.
  8. Took me a long time to get around to the video but thanks @Diceman87 I was able to learn 1 good lesson from it, the first lodestone carrier should be Big Jake. Saves a stone and his bonus provides value over a ronin, and the movement needed for the first one is covered by Battle Tempo and 1 walk.
  9. The Catalan Brawler unlocks a lot for the Viks. I think he can even make them viable for Public Enemies. Making your squishy masters un-attackable and you have 3 models that can generate extra attacks (and with stats of 7 and 6 so you can get them off).
  10. There's 2 questions in my mind. 1) does a model stop being a leader when it dies? I think the answer to this is "no" giving how assassinate is worded and scored. 2) do all abilities on a card stop when a model dies? This one is muddier but I lean toward yes. Part of this is it's just more fun. There's counter play to a leader ability by killing said leader. The only real hint to this is Nexus Leader upgrade that passes to other models when Nexus dies. If that wasn't needed it could have just been a leader ability on the card (unless there's just so much text they couldn't fit it )
  11. Took this list into Corner Leylines with Sabotage, Catch and Release, Leave Your Mark, Breakthrough, and Assassinate. Brawler Test 1 (Outcasts) Size: 50 - Pool: 5 Leader: Viktoria Chambers Totem(s): Viktoria Chambers 2 Hires: Big Jake Hodgepodge Emissary Ronin Ronin 2 Prospector Student of Conflict Catalan Brawler Opponent played Brewmaster. I won 7-5 (4 leylines, 2 lym, 1 breakthrough vs 3 leylines, 1 assassinate, 1 catch and release). Got the always gratifying 3 point turn 5. First I just have to say it was physically painful to leave Vanessa off a Viks list , but I wanted the Emissary for Weary Road and couldn't justify 2 healers. The crew worked beautifully though. I'm going to repeat from another thread that the 3 model game of Emissary/Brawler/Student is very good at least specifically for holding the middle. The prospector was another wrinkle that helped that. He spent the first 4 turns just mining, dowsing stick and appraising. A couple severe appraisals gave me the additional markers I needed to score LYM and still get fast out. Turn 5 he walked up and Malifaux Mining Law'd a marker to help with LYM (in the end I had 5 markers out just making sure my opponent couldn't stop me by picking them up). Big Jake played a subtle but key role too. I think he's an autotake in Leylines for Mercenary, and maybe should be considered OOK. Claiming the first marker, you're just walking and focusing with most models, but his bonus lets you filter your deck too. Then 2nd turn, On the Move -> walk -> throw to any model within 1 walk of a bordering marker while again filtering your deck. The main competition here would be a Prospector who can dowsing stick if you can efficiently get a scheme marker down in the direction you want to go. The student was all star for me this game, handed out fast the first 3 turns, then turned into a scheme runner and got me my 4th leylines point on turn 5.
  12. Gave him a try today. Didn't even bring a good option for Hold Down (the times I used it, I was just taking shots with the Emissary for 2/3/4), and he did exactly what I wanted. Kept a Vik on 1 health alive for an entire turn. A nice 3 model combo is the Emissary, Brawler and Student of Conflict. You Weary Road the Brawler into position and take advantage of Condor Security and once your opponents beaters have gone, the Student uses the marker to give out fast. Worked beautifully in this game.
  13. I don't know how I ended up here but I like having 4 masters per faction. I'm certainly not a great player, so I couldn't manage to be good with all 8 anyway. 4 gives me the options I need while keeping it limited to few enough that I have an handle on how each of them play. I do like having all the versatile though. Currently have the Viks, Von Schill, Leveticus, and Parker in Outcasts; McCabe, Misaki, Mei Feng and Asami in 10 Thunders, planning on getting Maxine and Anya in ES + a 4th I haven't decided yet.
  14. Everyone is so excited about him in Outcasts, no one is talking about how he fits in with Syndicate. Presumably a model named rifleman will have a solid gun, and Yannic Waller is shown holding a gun, so his trigger will probably have good synergy with them, but no currently existing Syndicate models have a very scary gun. Surveyors are probably the best, if you want to move something (which could be brutal combined with the stagger). Of course there are OOK models too, but ES as a whole only has okay guns among henchmen, enforcers and minions (best ones are probably Spelleaters or Rough Riders). If your meta allows 2nd masters or not will determine how brutal he is with Basse, McCabe and of course Lord Cooper all having good guns. You can actually get 2 extra Cooper shots off per turn using the Brawler and Mr Ngaatoro to obey the brawler (and 2nd charge by the Brawler if needed so that could be across several targets).
  15. fwiw the Catalan Brawler can double Toss in the Mud a friendly using Price of Progress for the reposition trigger. edit: as a turn 1 movement trick, if you want it
  16. Only the friendly has to be within 2". You can be on the opposite side from an enemy and drop a marker. Alternatively, the Hodgepodge Emissary could give him don't mind me, or use A Weary Road. Prospectors could also help get a marker in place, or Wokou Raiders. He fits in really well with Outcasts.
  17. I got my wish it's more of a tar pit than a beater, so I'm very happy. Hoping to proxy it this weekend.
  18. I think this is intentional because they don't want these models having a 2" engagement
  19. d'oh! You're right of course. Well Vanessa will still be stat 8 but no surge.
  20. Mad Dog, Alyce, Hans, Freikorpsmenn and Engineers can all get min 3 shots or Vanessa with stat 8 and surge built in. 😈
  21. just off the top of my head, he seems good with the Viks, Von Schill, Parker and Levi if Alyce is around. I'm excited
  22. Do you have Arik in any crews in the web version? He causes lots of problems
  23. I don't think it's consensus, but the more I think about it, the more I like it. It would also have great synergy with VS using Pull! Like Adran said either Hannah or Arik are also good options. Even an Engineer could take out Sovereign in 1 activation without much trouble (if the Emissary isn't around).
  24. Worth bringing Mad Dog ook to deal with Sovereign? Is that too much? I don't know much about Anya. Looks like a keyword that's impossible to pin down, and probably worth putting health pressure on them.
  25. I was going to guess it was to keep it consistent with other summoning actions but Tara's has no range.
