  1. While I understand the reasons for public feedback, there is always that uprising of semi helpfull "fear of change" and "everything is perfectly good as it is..." I cannot count the times I've gotten answers like "but malifaux is the best balanced game already... look at X,Y,Z those are all worse games..." and "It didnt win a tournament, therefore its balanced" in a tactical or balancing discussion with other players. And logical public debates tend to get drowned in yelling. From my experience in most of the metas, there are just some players that are tactical geniuses and stand out of the meta by a margin and they do win those tournaments because of that margin and not because there faction is on the top end of the powercurve. For a balancing discussion that tournament argument seems kind of pointless to me in a game that is so playerskill dependend. I always get the answer: "well then its all good if player skill is the most important thing" but regardless there is still need to balance the game for the non geniuses. Also often times when I present a theory about a new way of playing a master or a crew, it rapidly gets shut down by people that fear change and I'd bet money on getting answers like "this master shouldnt be played like this" or "better take johan....". And then, when I just block those answers from my mind and play it, it often times works really well. I've learned not to trust the internet in public discussions because the most of the time they are not logical. So that means the best way of trying to impact the game with constuctive and positive feedback would be to write a detailed, public, logical, non-biased report on my perspective of the game and back it up with battle reports and arguments? And then I should ask you if you would like to play a game of malifaux versus me and if the answer would be yes, I'd have to beg someone for a transatlantic plain ticket. =D While I like the thematic point of being a Gremlin Crier, and I think there is a lot of value in that compliment, I still wish there was a paragraph in gg18 that would allow my local henchman to give me VP for "promoting my desires for the faction" in the tournaments he is running. =(
  2. I would like to ask you a few questions and I hope you do not take them as another yelling sad gremlin's questions: Would you consider changing or readjusting that perspective based on detailed and "as objective as possible" player citicism via email and if so, how do you value personal play experience and detailed player feedback compared to each other? Tournament play or friendly games or something else; what is the focal point of the malifaux designer perspective? What is the main strengh of gremlins and how is that represented in a unique aspect that other factions cannot achieve or cannot achieve with the same efficiency? In your perspective, do you consider bayou gremlins to be problematic models because of them being a cheap significant activation (like a major part of the non gremlin player community does) and do you think that the bayou gremlins ability to suffer half their wounds once per game to get 1 bonus ap is strong compared to being disguised or having 5 wounds, armor 1 and, most of the time, df6? Is there a chance of an errata that includes changes to the balance of the emissaries compared to each other?
  3. The emissary got buffed significantly by gg18. In ply and public executions I take it with every master. And it gets even better when you play Zoraida and there you're able to multiply the effectiveness of that vp deying machine. And once your opponent takes Asami and you have the mysterious emissary you just have a great time.
  4. Be careful tho: if you give shed blood to a sorrow that hasn’t activated yet, make sure it will be in LoS to an enemy at the end of its next activation or the condition will be removed. This is super easy to forget. This also enables scoring public execution in isolated places. You can kill something out of activation with misery while being out of los and then when that sorrow activates, walk or place via misery loves company to get into los at the end of the activation.
  5. Oh boy, that schemepool... it screams pandora lure bubble in the middle and kill everything with sorrows and then drop search the ruins and entourage or take show of force.
  6. Yesterday on my traindride to work I looked through the window and I saw Zipp flying right next to the train.... ...... ........ suddenly a Nicodem appeared, overtaking Zip while riding a Kentauroi... The End
  7. So it depends if you want to play box pandora, paralyze pandora, or summoning pandora. Box and paralyze pandora tend to have very open crew choices and summoning pandora builds on misery synergies. I'm mostly playing summoing pandora at the moment because I love how misery gives the enemy bad choices and ignores most defences. My crew looks like this: Pandora - Woe is me - depression Lilithu Doppelganger Mysterious Emissary Lust/Barbaros/Thorn Aeslin/Sorrows/Iggy In some pools Aeslin works really well (setup, dig their graves) and I've learned how much value a claw attack attacking willpower provides in a pandora crew with a lot of misery. Also his anti lure aura is really good in schemepools without the requirement to move forward. Charging someone for 3 atks vs wp with a few sorrows around really really hurts. Also opposed wp duells are pretty one sided in woe is me crews, since once the first enemy has fallen you can have the priority targets at (-) to wp pretty easily with the poltergeist. I've used barbaros less and less because my opponents tend to remove him really quickly because they know how much of a problem his challenge aura can be. Lust can be brutal if the game favors larger fights (Supply wagons, Ply, ...) and sometimes additional sorrows speed up the whole misery engine. Iggy is a more defensive Option and I bring him when I feel like there will be a lot of pressure on pandora and she needs his matyr aura and the emissary can always copy it to protect her aswell. Upgrade wise I'd consider aether connection, if I decide to bring the cheaper variants of the models I listed, because I want a bigger cache with it. In ply for information I like to bring Fugue State and sometimes, when I feel like its going to be one big fight bubble (cause of terrain or supply wagons) I like to bring Cry for me, because it can really devastate bunched up enemies.
  8. I've played a lynch game last week and reached a 19 card hand when lynch activated at the end of turn 1. =)
  9. To be honest: Pandora has such a high skillcap and many ways of being played effectivly that if you invest enought time she can handle almost anything. I've had games vs Sandeep and 3 mages (Who all ignore Misery before their activation due to arcane shield) and a lot of incorporeal ignoring stuff and still won. Pandora has a lot of things that are really really good in this game: - Activation controll - Passive dmg - Armor ignore - lots of 1 dmg pings vs soulstone users - powerfull controll options (Paralyze, (-) to wp duells against terrifying etc.) - anti charge defense - good defensive stats - pretty versatile crew options
  10. I feel like this is a truely thematic and nice way to aproach games in 2018, since the removal of claim jump allows schemepools that dont punish this gameplay as hard anymore.
  11. which is wonderfull for public executions
  12. I played three of them in an ironsides crew and they did fine.
  13. "When this model is killed or sacrificed" indicates when the ability is triggered. There is not really a difference if you burry first or remove the conditions first. They happen at the same time. Changing the order of the abilities doesnt make you skip one. Also wordings with the word "then" would be pointless if every wording would resolve this way.
  14. Except that the summon actions says sacrifice all other friendly totems in play and doesnt say "Then sacrifice" and effects which happen at the same time can be resolved in an order chosen by the active player. Therefore you chose to sacrifice the old banasuva and then summon a new one.
  15. I thaught about the new sandeep upgrade to summon banasuva in melee on a tome. Then he can copy the ability to push someone when killed from the errataed windgamin. When you resummon banasuva it sacrifices the old and you can push sandeep or any other team member. You could potentially summon banasuva with a sandeep charge, then activate banasuva, use the 0 to get the push on death ability, hit once with melee expert, use youre 1 ap (slow) to copy sandeeps arcane storm and trigger student of all on sandeep to make a melee action, resummoning banasuva, sacrificing the old one, pushing sandeep 5" and then activate banasuve again, for another melee atk or 2.
  16. I was thinking of using both the healing and the offensive potential of cheating bastard with ranged models in a kind of tanky and slow lynch crew. This is what I got: Ps: Once you have the ace of rams, each tt brother draws you a card for free?!?! Is that correct? Also: they don’t have a rare limit and are ml5 for lust!!
  17. Is there a similar way of deckfeeling with neverborn lynch?
  18. I've played against Cheating Bastard a few times. And it has been absurdly strong in defensive situations (for lynch) and for his and huggys own activations. But that was due to the crew beein mostly melee centric and therefore his minions not always beein inside the auras. I cant stand the thaught, that ranged options might excell with cheating bastard, cause they almost always benefit from the aura. A recalled training Lazarus that always cheats second and discards an ace for auto fire seems pretty strong to me. Also Ten Thunders Archers might be worth a shot with blot the sky and their rapid fire without randomization. In my experience cheating bastard is one of the strongest effects in malifaux and building the whole crew around utilizing this effect is worth every penny and I dont understand why anyone would take another limited on lynch, like ever...
  19. The emissary has always been 150% effective for me. It summons every game, the conflux of fate upgrade is amazing. The 0 has tons of tricks (including giving the doll 2 high cards on a minus flip against stubborn targets like yasunori and knowing your fate when gambling your life) and the condition it hands out when damaging the vodoo doll is one of the most effective things in whole malifaux.
  20. Emissary, 2 whips and Iggy every single game. Upgrades: powerful control is the only upgrade I take on her. Her limiteds are to expensive for what they do and hex bag is counter intuitive because when I’m hemming enemies the doll is further away from Zoraida and that (0) is useless and when I’m hemming my own models I don’t need the effect from that (0). The rest of the crew is scheme and strat dependent. But some honorable mentions: hooded rider is a good backup beater. Lelu and Lilithu are great Allrounders (you can hem them both at once and push them around the board simultaneously and they both get nursed if you need it) stitched together (it’s not gambling if your emissary knows your fate 😇) The thing is that with the core list of emissary Iggy and whisps you don’t need the rest of your crew to do every job in the game. Just use the enemy crew and play with their toys. In my last few Zoraida games by biggest beaters have been yasunori, Howard Langston and the lone swordsman. BTW always say thank you if your opponent uses recalled training before you obey his dude. 😇
  21. Don’t forget her Resser side. Lots of fun things she can do there.
  22. Guys what are you talking about? 4-Rider Levi??? I play 5-Rider Levi: 50 SS Outcasts Crew Leveticus + 2 Pool - Pariah of Bone (1) Hollow Waif (0) Hollow Waif (0) Hodgepodge Emissary (10) - Aetheral Conflux (0) Dead Rider (10) Pale Rider (10) Hooded Rider (10) Kentauroi (8) (exported from CrewFaux) 😂
  23. So that means you don’t take upgrades with lynch and you’re ok with 1ss cache for lynch and huggy? 🤔
  24. So other then Burt, where is all the cross faction hiring from gremlins? And how does crossfaction hiring have anything to do with kentauroi being a slap in the face to gremlins? In my experience poor arguments are those one to two sentence comments that just say something like: „your argument is invalid...“ or „ „
