  1. I wasn't active there, but could be people misremembering from the beta. Has happened with a few people with some abilities/models.
  2. Colour me excited. You've put out lovely stuff in the past.
  3. Its moustache can be a bit fragile but other than that, an enjoyable figure to paint. Very simple sculpting, which I prefer. Good rules for Plant Explosives as well. Are you going for the box art colour scheme or something a bit more personal? ___ Anyone else took a headstart into 2020? Yasunori's mount got the skin bits, hooves & hoof flames done (what else was I going to do on new year's) Overall it's still very dark, that will change. I've just blocked in areas to make sure I like the colour composition. Far as I'm concerned the wings or Yasunori himself aren't "painted" per se, as I've only indicated (roughly) what colour to put where. Working my way up the mount before tackling mr Blender himself. Next session will be the neck scales. Going to re-watch a feather tutorial or two before tackling those wings. Intimidating!
  4. Wyrd wise, Crossroads 7 is all built sans Wrath. Still contemplating whether to do the whole band in a single month/month & half period, or trickling them out along the year. TT, I have a half painted Samurai since forever that I want done. I have one painted already but it's from many years ago, would like a better painted one plus a chance to hire two if need be. I've got a Charm Warder I really should get done for counter tech purposes. There's a few Monk and Last Blossom things I want eventually. And finally I'm quite excited for Yan Lo and Misaki Core Boxes so I can paint the new sculpts. Arc, I have Altered Beasts and Steam Arachnids to do. There's a bit more than that, Wyrd and otherwise, but those are things I'll realistically want to have painted by the end of 2020.
  5. Good lot you got there. I counted 42. More Wyrd than I did all year Any longterm plans for 2020? New masters/keywords coming in or just filling out the current ones?
  6. Life happens so it's good to have plan B just in case Ooo. I've got two painted and two more primed in the pile. My four arcanist masters Marcus makes for a great mini.
  7. I try not to jump between too many models. Usually I have three or so models stuck to my mini-holders, which limits how many I can work on at once. Helps with finishing models. My motivation tends to die off if I take a break from a model for too long. For most of my minis there's few days to few weeks of time between starting and finishing the paintjob. Any longer and I just don't finish. In my experience committing to a few specific minis at a time helps get stuff finished. At most few hours a week can certainly be an issue. That's enough to finish a model, provided your skillset and desired end result match. But it's a challenge, certainly. I know it's not for everyone, I have a feeling you'll not warm up to it, but committing to playing fully painted can help. Of course only after you've got a sensible 50ss all comers' done to rely on. It was a natural conclusion for me after a few years in the hobby, but I've always enjoyed the more visual side of this hobby. Unpainted model is simply not a consideration for me. And in 2019 it did drive me to paint certain models I really wanted to field on the table, often under a looming deadline.
  8. So. Numbers. 108 minis painted. Quite happy. Last year was around 60 or so (no exact number). And I dare say quality increased. By make: 41 Knight Models/Batman Miniatures Game 31 Malifaux 15 GW (mostly easy build sets) 6 Reaper (mostly Bones) 5 Russian Alternative (ah those metal barbarians) And some more at 1 or 2 minis painted. 12 companies/games in total. Amusingly out of those 41 Batman minis, only 14 were for myself. Which brings me to: 69 minis painted for myself 39 painted for others (30 commissions/9 "gifts") That's 36% of my painted stuff going to someone else. No wonder my display feels empty relative to hobby hours. Quite a change from last year. Quite tellingly 90% of my commissions were for Batman. Few guys in that group took a liking to my paintjobs. I took a liking to little extra hobby fundsWe sometimes joke that it's possible that half of the crews in any local BMG event could be painted by me(they never are, but it's close). Interestingly only a single Malifaux figure counted as a commission. Rest I did basically for free, for various reasons. In fact I think all 9 "gifts" were either Wyrd minis or Malifaux proxies. We got a pretty cool local community. Fun year. Ups & downs as ever but overall rather positive. Lots of cool paintjobs. Happy I finally gave NMM an honest go. It's fun to just slap some paint on and enjoy the highlights. Interestingly I don't feel like I got better this year, comparing my early -19 and late -19 paintjobs. I won't say I plateau'd, I can definitely see a way up. Right now I just don't really care to make the effort. Pretty happy with my speed/quality ratio for the moment. Although I toy with the idea of making an actual effort at Ropecon painting contest next year (late summer). To be fair I toyed with that same thought this year and nothing happened on that front We'll see. I'm a fickle thing. As for next year. Well, I already pledged Yasunori for 2020 January challenge. Past that I've got Crossroads 7 and Altered Beasts sets mostly built, waiting for primer. Some other TT and Arc bits and bobs. Received 7 Hasslefree ladies in the mail recently, for use as proxies in Batman. I've got at least one too many unpainted boardgames which I really want to get done before too long (Battlelore 2, some GW boardgames). Plenty to do. "So many possibilities" indeed. I'll end with a groupshot 2019's painted: Such a small footprint. Minis indeed
  9. "Using the Cards" section, page 8 of the rules pdf says: When a Fate Card is revealed, it is shown to both players. For each Fate Modifier on a flip, one additional card is revealed ie. when you flip multiple cards, you show all of them to your opponent. So that's all public knowledge. Looking at page 10, "Duels", more specifically "Step B: Flip Fate Card": So everybody reveals everything, then the active player chooses first.
  10. YES👍 How much do you paint in a week? While there's many things that contribute, simply dedicating more time is a brute force way to get more stuff paintedThough I understand this isn't the #1 hobby for everyone.
  11. This guy has eluded me for a while now. Really been struggling with a colour scheme. But I think I've finally gotten an idea. At least something I can paint on it. If it doesn't work I'll just paint over it. No biggie. Might do something else as well, but this bad boy is getting done: Realistically something as big as this is likely to wear me out by the end. So no promises on quality. But right now I'm pretty pumped. We'll see. Will be quite a start for the new year.
  12. Interesting. I always allocate 2 cache just for stoning the masks if need be. I don't like 'wasting' Marcus AP on a single mutation. Sounds like a cool game.
  13. Ho ho indeed! All the best for my brothers and sisters of the brush for 2020👍
  14. Thanks @Boro (and @Caedrus), Much appreciated. ___ Doing the usual "wot I painted this month" in this post, and then a followup a bit later crunching some numbers and making casual observations about what/how/for whom I painted this year. Little personal retrospective if you will Quick Slipknot to start the year off. Another Batman Miniatures Game mini by Knight Models sculpted after Suicide Squad film. Simple black 'n white colour scheme for him. Not a very exciting mini, but I did enjoy the ease and simplicity I felt when painting. Random commission I was offered while at the LGS. Metal mini, unknown origin. Thoroughly unremarkable. Yes it's missing a hand. After seeing GW's Da Red Gobbo pop up everywhere, I felt the need to do one too. LGS 2nd hand shelf to the rescue2nd edition (?) 40k plastic goblin. Fun little paintjob. Barbaros Alternative as seen in the December Challenge thread. Took a while figuring out the colour scheme and then actually implementing it. Hence why I did a few easy figures in between various stages when working on this. Not perfect by any means, but am quite happy with it. Got a bit more comfortable with nmm. It's fun to dabble with. Definitely one my favourite paintjobs for the year, but well, that's for the retrospective. After the pink knight I wanted something a little different. Did those GW skeletons I've been mentioning. Muted colours, (over)weathered metallics, bit of a departure from my usual style. And a batch project too. Wanted to do something a bit out of the norm. It's a neat set. Still not a fan of batch painting. Papa Loco, metal. Another "as seen on the challenge thread" mini. Went to Sweden for a few casual LGS games on a whim, so decided to paint him up quick in case I face destructible spam. I didn't. Faced NB. Papa stayed in the case Arathanel, Reaper Bones. Final mini for the year. Another low end commission. New client. They were happy. ___ That's 13 minis for December. 108 for the year. Not a bad number to end up at I'll get the navel gazing post up within a few days and that's that for this thread I reckon. I've enjoyed this. Will probably do another one for 2020. Keeps it easy to reference.
  15. @Ogid Rulebook pdf page 12: By my reading Blood in the Air is a game effect affecting the action, ie. Rampage gives out Adversary.
  16. @Caedrus 9 (Barbaros) + 7 (Papa Loco) = 16ss. On a whim painted up metal Papa Loco. Realised he might be handy counter tech for some matches. Fun figure, as 1e metals tend to be.
  17. Yea, SS upgrade carrying Cerberus (to trigger Onslaught at will) is probably the single best model to buddy up with Crockett.
  18. Yea a Void Wretch. As for the keyword system, it varies. I play my Yan Lo mostly (often fully) keyword because they work so amazingly together and provide enough tools that I don't really need to go outside the keyword. When I play Marcus I hover between 1/3 and 2/3 in-keyword, because I'm actively punished for going 100% keyword and it has some deficiencies I need to patch with ook models anyway. And (with very little experience) when I play Sonnia I just don't see her keyword providing much for her, vs. many ook models to give me stuff I actually want (card draw, focus, movement). And of course, top models will be top models. And strong, (possibly) unintended synergies with a specific ook models will almost unavoidably be a thing.
  19. Not a bad idea to spare a hand card for it since it does give you at least two attacks. And if you managed to get Adversary (Beast) on the target, that second attack (or two) will be on +flip too.
  20. Corner Turf War Hold Up Power Ritual Outflank Deliver a Message Vendetta Nothing Beast, Hannah, Aionus, Scavenger, Scion, Wretch. Opponent was the "UK GT" Shenlong list. Ototo, Yasunori, Kitty Dumont, Minako Rei. Might've had something else in.
  21. What was the pool? That kind of positioning 'forced' upon you sounds like it'd make it very difficult for you to score anything. Starting to sound like a reallu funky game.
  22. Her 'Beast Shape' bonus action: "... without discarding ANY UPGRADES.". And her 'Bestial Form' upgrade: "... without discarding ANY UPGRADES.".
  23. @GlowingFruit Welcome aboard. Nice Emissary you got for your brother. Be sure to sound off in the proper sign-up thread as well:
