  1. It's a bonus action so you can do it whenever you'd spend your other APs. It doesn't let you ignore the Once per activation limit. But once per activation means exactly that. If Lady charges on her own activation, she can still charge on the rider's activation.
  2. Have you any frozen non-Contrast to compare? I believe acrylics in general really don't like being frozen.
  3. Most of the measures here are dual marked imperial & metric. Not an issue where I live.
  4. Still paintingBeen stuck on the wings for a while now. On the plus side I've already painted 19 minis this month. Quick 'n dirty boardgame minis, but still It's all glued together. In retrospect I should've done the rider separate. Would have made painting some areas a bit easier. If you're particularly hardcore I think you could even do the wings separate. Pretty clean model for subassembly painting I think.
  5. Marcus box is all new sculpts and Initiates are on special order.
  6. 'Hard Throw' is an action trigger. And rules pdf page 12 tells us this about action triggers: Accuracy modifier is a game effect, so yes it will potentially give the trigger a positive, negative, or straight flip.
  7. Do note that at least Deliver says "leader or master", so either would be a valid target.
  8. Dead Outlaw has a Tactical Action "Covetous Cravings". It discards a scheme marker to give Fast to a friendly model.
  9. @Ogid 1) I strongly consider mutation allocation pre-game. I can set up 4 models (including 1 Jackalope) with mutations t1, that puts a cap on how many beasts I can reasonably hire. And when hiring them I try to have a spread of them to have enough "optimal" mutations for everyone. [edit: I can do more, but 2ap for 4 mutations is my comfort zone in this regard] 2) I don't necessarily have all my mutations attached ever, but most for sure. Standard operating procedure is: 4 mutations via Chimeramancy, 1 via Marcus, 1-2 via Myranda (and Order Initiate). T2 I add another 2 mutations. Assuming single Myranda/Initiate, that's 8 mutations down. T3 I might add another mutation or two but often I can't spare the AP. Depends on the game state. T3 mutations go on Jackalope and if I absolutely need something on someone else. 3) Cerberus gets Camouflage/Wings/Serrated, usually one of the first two. Really depends on what my opponent has. Blessed of December gets Camouflage, Wings or Horns. Slate Ridge Mauler gets Armour t1 and Horns t2. 4) Jackalope gets Serrated and then any left overs. Often Horns or armour. Actual mutation effects are secondary. 5) Marcus tends to obey charges and try to set up adversary (not necessarily with his own attacks), then companion into a beater beast. Often he plays in bit of an offensive bubble with Jackalope and Bear or some other beast. But he's flexible, double walking 14" and Interacting is certainly a thing I've done. I don't use a whole lot of chimeramancy in t3+, apart from on Jackalope. Admittedly I've been a bit lazy with Adaptive Evolution, so that might well change in the future.
  10. Its an ability on Minako Rei, therefore she is the one doing the killing.
  11. for the LoS question: Rules pdf page 32 under "Summoning" says: So the summoned models do indeed need to be in LoS to Anna. None of the relevant actions or abilities state that she gets to ignore the LoS requirement.
  12. My Sonnia core has been Pale Rider, Guild Steward and an upgrade for Sonnia. Anything else comes after. Judge makes the cut if I need cards. Mainly for Corrupted Idols. Winning 4 or 5 initiatives and deciding where Idols drop really helps.
  13. I've only played 8 games with Sonnia. OOK I've used: Pathfinder (Frontier) - Offers movement and ranged damage. Other options for these exist. Watcher (Augmented) - Reasonably cheap. Good movement. Handy for some tables but I guess I can live with it banned. Judge (Marshal) - Card draw. No proper substitutes that I'm aware of. Marshal ban could definitely hurt. I like having a decent hand. Especially in Corrupted Idols. Jury and Papa Loco also seem good to have for some games. Jury doesn't really have alternatives I think, but regarding Papa Loco at least there's other Blow it to Hell and Shockwave models in the faction.
  14. Yea, models from banned keyword can be hired if they're versatile or share a keyword with leader (ie. Lucius can hire elite/journalist dual models even if journos get banned).
  15. In GG season 0, you can still hire the Pale Rider even if Horsemen get banned.
  16. Got most of the mount done. Just tail & wings to go (which let's be honest is like 50% of the mount..). This mini is dense. But so far so fun. So far fairly happy with it. Exhausting as all get out though. Dreading the wings.
  17. Trick with thinning paint, and @Antinea might already know this, is to touch the brush (already loaded with paint) on a paper towel or something similar before painting the mini. This wicks off excess moisture/paint off the brush. That gives a way better control over the paint. It's not enough to have thinned paint, there needs to be little enough of it in the brush as well. And yea overworking the paint is bad. No cure to that other than patience. Dastardly thing, that. Thankfully water thinned, thinly applied paint dries in seconds (Your Climate May Vary). I use a lot of Vallejo Model Colour but can't really help with ratios. I thin as much as I need to, and that varies. But it's on both sides of the 1:1. As for eyes, I usually do them these days, but it's mostly just me wanting to be able to. I don't think they particularly add to the finished mini though. Too basic for fancy online photos, and well, they're eyes so not really relevant for gaming purposes. But as that 90's song went... "I can".
  18. Doesn't that sound familiar I'd say the time investment certainly shows. Lovely looking goatboy. And that ginger👌
  19. @Monkeyfist Little known fact: napping baby butts make surprisingly adorable pedestals for minis:
  20. Yellow ink is my personal secret weapon for yellow. I get opacity I want from yellow ochre, I get easy highlights by mixing in white to it, and I turn it all a nice yellow by going over the whole thing with ink. Works with paint too I'd imagine, but inks vibrancy and natural transparency really helps in this regard. I don't go for it very often but for really quick 'n dirty approach I'd look into GW's Casandora Yellow. It's sort of an orange-y wash. Putting it over beige (="bone") colour gets a decent tabletop yellow IMO. Not something I utilise often, but it's been helpful in the past.
  21. If you just want to do something like an outcast base rim I'd go for a basecoat of yellow ochre (I use VGC Heavy Goldbrown, but alternatives exist). Ochres tend to be a lot more opaque than "pure" yellows but yellow ochres still look pretty yellow. Bit dull in colouration but that's perfect for a base rim. It's also a decent base for building up more nuanced yellows on actual models.
  22. Pledge is more of a minimum thing. I did 2019 on Minion level (1ss per month) despite painting at least Enforcer level ss values (6ss/month I believe). I merely shortchanged myself there. Perfectly fine to do it that way if it suits you. My admittedly modest pledge level drove me to paint more Wyrd than I otherwise would've, and even just paint more than I would've otherwise. tldr: perfection is bad. ___ How new are you to painting? How many minis have you finished? Part of your post just sounds like you're never finishing stuff, which means you don't really gain any experience. I can't stress enough the importance of having a library of finished minis. It does so much to teach you and give you a better perspective on things. If you can, maybe next time consider taking a photo and showing where it went bad. Usually things aren't rubbish. Usually things are wip (work in progress). "It's gonna look bad before it looks good" is a thing I've heard many accomplished painter say, and it's certainly something that often applies to my own work as well. Thing is, I've seen enough minis to the end that I know I'm just visiting in ugly town, so to speak Without a photo I can't really offer more concrete tips. And while I'd love to grab a drink and discuss "philosophy" of painting, as I'm rather into being a carefree happy painter myself, it's not something that translates well to text. Certainly not at this hour of the night where I live But please, if you hit a roadblock do reach out. This isn't just a "yay look what I did" thing.
  23. @Cats Laughing Heh, I too like to avoid "official" colours. Sometimes all I know is "I want something here to be red" and everything else goes from there. It's why I often like to sketch colours straight onto a model. I'll get a better idea of what I like when I actually see some colours on the model. Helps me make up my mind before committing too much. And luckily there's enough local stores with well stocked paint racks that I'm not left wanting in that regard. Best of luck with the serpent. And if it's any help, I did mine in purple. Fits it quite well I think.
  24. Please do Shame about Wyrd declining in your area, but it sounds like you've got other things to tide you over. Hobby on 💪 I've really enjoyed your contributions to the challenge.
