  1. Thanks for those links, @trikk So, is your argument about the tournament dominance of Gremlins based on the information in the "Factions" tab? The table with Position - Faction - Average - Score? That's the only place I can see that Gremlins as a faction have some higher percentage than the other factions.
  2. Exactly. It seems to be a really common fault in Theory-faux, to not think 4-dimensionally, or even in 3D. And you hear it all the time even on Schemes & Stones - talking about the Slop Hauler just magically being in the right place all the time to heal everyone for the entire length of the game? Nope. They're slow as hell. And in one doubles game, my partner had 2 of them - our opponents had 2 Freikorp Trappers and head-shotted both Haulers Turn 1. On Corner Deployment. That's how you do it People also talk about Lenny's buffing auras, as if he's somehow magically keeping up with the rest of the crew and everyone's within 3" of him. He's Walk 4"! Which is great if you're all bunched up in the middle (Brewmaster sometimes, or Ulix). The Drunk & Reckless Bayou Gremlins can't be running off scoring Schemes with their 3 AP and have Lenny/Slop Hauler/Lightning Bug right next to them to prevent/heal that damage. Not unless you also invest in infrastructure like Old Major/Gracie + Saddle (10-11ss).
  3. Well, no - I am right, because all I was saying was there've been many errata since M2e, and Reckless hasn't been changed on any more than one model. Which is true. Wyrd have obviously looked in that direction, and decided to do nothing much about it. Whatever's happened to Hamelin is a separate issue. If he was boosted in Crossroads, then perhaps it went too far. But Reckless itself hasn't been touched. The tournament point average anecdote is nice, but it's a far leap of logic to correlate that directly to Reckless. How many different rankings are there, btw? I'm just looking at the LogFaux results - Gremlins are top there, by 0.31%, over a combined total of 6700 games. What's interesting is that Zipp is the "most winning" Master in Gremlins. And the second most played. I hear a lot of good things about Zipp, but i don't play him. Might that not also be a reason for the unbreakable Gremlin dominance seen in your tournaments? Really good players, knowing how to use the new-shiny Master?
  4. The Brewmaster a replacement for that oft-unused "The Good Stuff" upgrade (1/2/4 damage attack). How about "Settle in for the Night"? (1) Target a model within 3" that has the Poison condition. This model may place a Scheme marker in base contact with the target. If it does so, lower the target's Poison condition by 1. Useful in Schemes, and with Performers, McTavish, etc.
  5. The more of the responses that i read, the more i think this is just going to be "one of those things" that won't be successfully reasoned to a conclusion. If you haven't played with Gremlins, you're unlikely to feel the compromises that Reckless places on you. If you don't think 4-dimensionally, you'll talk about all the healing that Gremlins have as if it's available to every model, all the time - without realising that means they'll all have to be crazy bunched up in the backfield, and looking to get blasted. And if you're a dedicated Gremlin - like me - you probably underestimate how naff it can look to an opponent when you declare 2-3 times a turn that you're just going to put Fast on the model, and go do some legit Stuff. But I reckon that the bottom line is this: if Reckless was a major issue, Wyrd would've done something about it by now. The Rooster Rider cuddle supports that idea. Sure, it might all get changed in M3e, but up till now Wyrd have had ample opportunity to roll it back through successive Errata, and yet it hasn't been. Reckless fits the nature of Gremlins, and i suspect that nature gets up the noses of some of the more "serious" players. I saw it a bit with the related Goblin armies in WHFB - the rolling of eyes when a Ball & Chain Fanatic came flying out of an otherwise useless unit - but that's what the factions are meant to be: volatile, high-risk high-reward fun. If Wyrd finds a way to keep that central to the faction while ditching Reckless and replacing it with something else, then i don't mind. But it should still be something risky with the potential for great rewards. And it should be something silly - something the serious players won't approve of
  6. It's on A Wyrd Place, and it's a poll set up to ask what people think about "comping" Malifaux tournaments. It's now been officially closed to contents "due to excessive trolling". Imagine that...
  7. Any ideas? I always see lots of these gals going super cheap, and it seems a shame to not be able to think of something creative to do with them (I already have more than enough to use in my crews!)
  8. It feels like most Gremlin players (who admittedly may be biased), know how fragile their crews are, getting a lot of AP to begin with, but often having few models left near the end of the game. And non-Gremlin players might overlook that inherent fragility, and just get the Reckless-hate stuck in their craw. Just about any model in Malifaux has the potential to make you roll your eyes in resignation due to some crazy ability or other. With regards to the healing/Reckless combo, you just learn to kill the healing. E.g. you're going against Arcanists, bring Armour penetration. Going against Rezzers, bring Taelor. If you're going against Gremlins, bring a sniper to whack that Slop Hauler/Lightning Bug. Better yet, Blasts, to hit all the suckers bunched up around the Hauler/Bug as well. Right?
  9. There's some corner-case use with Sparks (theoretically) in Brewmaster's Drinking Contest, to stop condition removal/push/pull models by getting within 8 of them. Buuuut...risky, as he'd have to get a long way upfield. Also, maybe Anna Lovelace does that job better?
  10. He's key in my "Ludicrously expensive, one-shot first turn hate-look machine" setup, with Rami, Old Cranky, a Slop Hauler and Wong. Guarantees Rami his Dumb Luck, and mitigates 1 Damage Otherwise, he's good with summoning Som'er, and for feeding the Pigapult, but I regard him as too slow for much else. And costly.
  11. So I waded half-cocked into a FB thread in which a few people were stating that Gremlin "Reckless" is crazy OP, and that the entire Gremlin faction needs to be reworked. Thoughts? I'm not an experienced player, and I only play Gremlins, so on second thought I'm not really qualified to hold a respectable opinion on this. I had though, for the record, thought that it's not like all other Factions have no tricks of their own, and if it was really such a problem for the game as a whole, Wyrd would've done something about it by now.
  12. BISHOP - I've not played enough with Wong yet to settle on favourite Glowy targets, but Bishop is definitely high on the list of contenders. Although he already has a trigger that does all the same things as "Magical", that kinda frees you up if all goes well to stack one of his other triggers onto his attacks, making the enemy Slow, pushing them, or increasing the Damage by +1. If he's "Ooo Glowy", you might be able to get 3 attacks per turn at 4/5/6, ignoring Armour, Incorp and HtK, dictating that the enemy use their lesser defensive stat. And he'll have Regen. But I saw another use for him on a blog somewhere - in a Brewmaster crew. If Brewie is doing his Poison/Wp debuff aura, Bishop can choose to target that low Wp stat and have a good time without requiring that the target be Swilled. Might not be enough of a bonus to go paying that amount of stones for him, but I like trying to find killers that're going to capitalise on Brewie's Wp-debuffing. STRONGARM SUIT - also for Wong. Tough, capable in MI and SH, can leap/charge out of engagement, and his MI damage track could easily be 4/6/8, with a on .
  13. Going to try my best to get up to Wolf Cry if it comes off. Looks like there's enough interest already, tho.
  14. Stuffed have their place, but there's so many other interesting and fun models to play in Gremlins that i don't ever find myself taking them. Bayous are my go-to cheap model, just because they have so much utility. All that doesn't matter, of course, because whatever i do in MY games doesn't have any bearing on those who do relentlessly run 6 of the blighters every game. I'd just imagine that would get boring pretty quickly. And +1 from me for having them mandatorily explode when killed (not sacrificed). It's just... So much more FLUFFY!!! I'd get 10x more enjoyment out of those things if there was the risk of them cinematically blowing up in my back lines due to a lucky sniper shot from down range
  15. I desperately, desperately want Bayou Gators to be Ht1 (and, preferably, immune to paralyse). I think that would fix (read:"break") them perfectly. Because there's nothing that i want so much for the Gremlin faction than to be able to launch bayou alligators in graceful parabolic arcs from a Pigapult in the backfield, right onto Toni Ironsides' smug Arcanist face. "Were they looking at you, Toni? Why YES! Yes, they were! Because they want to EAT you!" MWAAAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!
  16. Nice write-up, @Flinroz! I'm just embarking on the Grem-raiden Odyssey myself, having just picked up her old metal box (+Doll). Two games so far, and i took basically the same crew both times. The Nurse was great in one game, didn't get to do much in the other. The Rooster was hilarious... Got Obeyed into position by Zoraida, then charged into Lilith, bounced off into Lilitu, got wounded down to Rampage level by all the Black Blood, then hit Lelu on the second (1)AP charge. Did ~14 wounds before it died to Black Blood. Samurai - i don't think he's worth it. Looks brutal on his card, but the fact is after all those positive fluid he gets on attack, you usually still end up on a for damage, and that's if you haven't already Black Jokered. It's nice that he can avoid damaging by being Obeyed to ask by Zoraida (thereby allowing his AP to go toward Walk, Focus & Defensive), but i can see from everyone's thoughts here they there's better things for Zoraida to be doing. Especially if you already have McTavish for ranged damage. Hell - I don't know why I'm telling you guys all of this - i guess I'm just enjoying learning Zoraida, and reading about people's tricks with her :-)
  17. trade with @winterblade27 - excellent communications, very generous, and an all-around nice fulla. Thanks!
  18. Oh nice! Well, i promise to put Wong on the table against you (if we end up facing off), so you can see what he gets up to. The way *I* play him. Which may not be the sensible orthodox way... :-) But i feel like I've hijacked the thread now, so I'll quit it. Sorry @EpicWaffle!!!
  19. So... It sounds like Wong and a magical/Glowy Gracie could be a good start?
  20. ^^THIS^^ is said player! ;-) Though who knows - i might end up facing a newly-enabled Lucius instead :-)
  21. Haven't played against any of them yet (well - one game against annoying Zipp, who spent the entire game blocking LoS and lifting and dropping my henchmen, while an Iron Skeeter transported Francois and gave him Fast, allowing him to death-rocket into my poor Whiskey Golem (1st outing!)), but there's a tourny coming up in which I expect to face Titania (and Zipp again). I'll leave a tale of woe up here once it's all done and dusted! But, might it be a good idea for me to take "Scheme marker eaters" if I know I;m facing Titania? Ie, Wild Boars, McTavish, The Sow, Wong...even Piglets, if I also take Gracie/Old Major and chuck Corn Husks on her/him?
  22. Thanks for posting this. I'm a fan of Wong myself, but I'm still trying to get my head around how to best use him. One question: did the Outcasts somehow have 8 Soulstones? You say during Wong's first attacks on them they they used 2ss for damage prevention, then another 3 (total 5) for prevention on the next attack, leaving them with 3ss (total 8). You said at the top of the game that they had a cache of 4ss, so I'm obviously missing something here!
  23. Just signed up and starting entering some recent matches. Really nice interface - good work, and thanks!
  24. Also coming up to Auckland this Thursday to match Molly at Hobbymaster.
